@ieetmelon My Little Dashie was a really sweet fanfic. I liked it. I also like The Rainbow Factory.. A bit gorey, but it's been one of the only fanfics to stir me up emotionally.

In my opinion, the author of Past Sins spent some much time adding detail to the scene that the story started to get a bit lost. I also don't really like the premise of the story, so I'm pretty biased.

However, the only problem I have with this is the title.

You call it "extended", and increase it by another tantalising 30 seconds or so. While awesome, it ends far too soon and leaves me begging for more. :(

@Genereaver You cant compare a fanfiction with a book, people read the first ones to see a "what if" scenario and have a little fun with it, while the last ones are an art form (I for one love all Agatha Christie works) . So basically you hate the fanfictions themselves, and not that particular one, so your opinion is very subjective.

About /co/, I've seen some of those threats, and they are pure hate without any backup, pure trolling basically.

@EAMR262 Personally, I don't hate fanfictions. And I'm not trying to get people riled up with this post, but Past Sins just isn't good at all. Yet there are a lot of people who are absolutely fanatic about it. Brings to mind the Twilight books, which wouldn't seem nearly so awful if they weren't so popular. It's just annoying when things that aren't very good are deified and put on a pedestal.

@EAMR262 Too long to cover in a youtube comment, really. Certain errors of usage and poor style (using "offer" as a replacement for "said" all the time for instance). Using characters as devices to move the plot forward. Characters acting unrealistically (not just "out of character" but "inconsistent with the way a person would think or act"). And more. All boils down to poor execution. Nyx is an intriguing idea; people like the idea of Nyx, including myself. I just wish it were executed better.

@EAMR262 Fanfiction is the written word for the sake of bringing enjoyment to others or exploring scenarios in a distributed medium. I see no reason not to hold it to the exact same standards I hold any book. If it is written badly, I'll say so, and as for 'without any backup', there's tons of backup. One image in particular is a collage of posts demonstrating beyond any doubt exactly why it's badly written and a bad story overall.

You can enjoy bad things, but don't pretend they're amazing.

I personaly believe Twilight is more than just an average unicorn.

Seeing howmuch power other unicorns have in comparision makes her realls stand out of the mass by far.

I think its part of her plan to get her risen by other ponies so she becomes social and wont end up as a spoiled little brad with a lust for power. If you want a recommendation for the end of the song I think you should finish off the chord with a long (about 3 beat) note after a shorter (about 2 beat) pause. As it is now it ends in dissonance and leaves a feeling of unresolved tension. Sorry if any of this is nonsense I don't know much about music theory.
