  • The carillon is in the same tower in the chamber below the ringing room. If you look at external pictures of the tower, the carillon is in the lower louvered section, above which you see the small narrow windows of the ringing room. The top louvered section of the tower is where the change-ringing bells are housed.

  • I did that back in the day under Richard Dirksen. It was so much fun!! I graduated back in '99.

  • Touch?

The 3rd ran out instead of making seconds.?.?.?.?.?.?...

  • yes indeed, of the 3 leads we got, it was bob plain single as far as I can tell anyway.

  • The first installation of Changing Bells west of Texas in the US is being installed now...

Search google for: "Gerberding Hall changing bells

  • yes that's right, very much looking forward to going there sometime

  • @murphicus You must have forgotten the ring in Honolulu. Maybe you mean west of Texas in the continental USA. ;-)

  • a great ringing chamber, loads of space and light. So different from so many dusty dark places in UK towers.

  • The treble sounds a bit flat

  • there nice sounding bells, i ring in norwich engand i tell you dont no how lucky you are to have such a nice rining area

  • i'd love to ring there sometime!

  • good striking like your ringing control, the bells sound really nice, thumbs up from me! by the way; were is the tower?

  • This is from the National Cathedral in Washington DC

  • A friend just alerted me to this. I'm the guy ringing the 6 and conducting (jpeg16, I have the name of some good optometrists; I think you need help). Too bad YouTube messes with the sound/video sync so much, making it difficult to follow the method. But I wish all our striking could be that clean!

  • Ah cool thanks for the clarification of the tower layout.

  • Both bell sets are in the same tower. Lowest is the carillon, which is played from a booth in the carillon frame, above that is the change ringer's room with the peal bells topmost.

  • Yes, the carrillon is in a separate tower.

  • Comment removed

  • is the carillon played from the ringing room too? I noticed on a photo of the belfry once that the carillon bells are not with the change ringing ones are they in another room further up?

  • No, the carillon is NOT in a separate tower. The Gloria In Excelsis Tower has three levels. From the top, they are the peal bell chamber, the change ringing room and the Kibbey Carillon chamber. The Kibbey Carillon is played from an enclosed booth actually within the steel frame structure supporting the carilon bells.

  • The "Gloria In Excelsis" (Central) Tower of The Cathedral of St. Peter and St. Paul! The Cathedral is also home to the Kibbey Carillon of 53 Bells.

  • These Bells are lovely, I love to ring them, mmm maybe once i have my operation i may be able to

  • So the guy in the shorts is way hot.

  • Change ringing...probably my favorite pastime. Thanks for posting this, I love it so much.

  • Oh lovely. I didn't get to ring there last year, I went on a tourof some towers in the South with M.Shulte instead :)

  • Purple sallies are awesome! What tower is it at?

  • It's the tower at the national Cathedral in Washington DC

  • Thanks! Great video.
