lol I still remember watching this live, esp. Sting failing at ripping the shirt. I was a huge Sting mark back then, but to fail so hard on national TV is hilarious.
this made no fucking sense. yeah, yeah, yeah, I had someone try to tell me that it makes sense because Sting didn't hate the nWo, he just really hated Hollywood. That's stupid. It doesn't make sense.
@iwanttoseemrshow it did make sense because with sting joining wolfpac it shifted the balance of power to the wolfpac. they were the new nwo and hollywood was in trouble. it was great booking and tv and wolfpac were most over thing I've ever seen as far as stables
@jjr1284 agreed, just look at the hogan heel turn where heenan spilled the beans before one of the biggest moments in wrestling history. i haven't watched wrestling since the early 00's but just saying.
He actually joined the Wolfpack in Evansville, IN. I was there and at the end of the show he was asked to join and the cameras cut off but after that he joined and everyone cheered.
Man these were the days when wrestling was GREAT! I miss these days. Wwe and whatever Jarrett's company is called now isn't even worth stoppin to watch while flippin thru the channels
WcW went downhill when they merged the wolfpack with the nwo black and white and when they hired vince russo and ed ferrera.....wolfpack was the best crew followed by dx and then bwo
I remember going INSANE when this happened. SUCH an epic moment. It didn't register to me the crow Sting, as he was, died forever that night. Sting is The Icon of WCW. He was supposed to be WCW's eternal champion. Sting wearing an nWo shirt just seems wrong. It made for some great moments and some great matches though. Still, once Sting "fell" he should've remained the "purveyor of good with the voice of silence and a mission of justice".
Probably the most controversial moment in WCW history right here. I remember being 12 years old at this time just jumping up and down all excited at what I just saw, with all the other kids talking about it at school the next day. But looking back on it, this was the start of the downfall of WCW. Sting was the head of the WCW, who were the good guys. once he joined Wolfpac, the WCW roster went to waste. The storyline got really corny when each NWO was recruiting too many members
@cluckner88 Yeah it kind of ran its course, they tried to make the nwo last forever and expand it which just didn't work. The Harris Brothers, Jeff J, Stevie Ray and Scott Norton were just not special additions to the nwo but much more suited as wresters outside the stable.
WCW found something great but it overstayed its welcome instead of building on it and coming out with new ideas and feuds. I think it lasted so long to keep Hogan, Nash and Hall happy and at the top for so long
WWE totally screwed the potential that was behind the Nexus idea...they had a chance at outdoing even the NWO stuff. But after that first invasion, they pretty much just dropped the idea.
I don't think The Nexus was a remake. I think it was innovative if you think about it. They started this NXT thing on SyFy. People got eliminated and everything. Then, when the season was over, they grouped together and invaded the WWE. That's different than NWO. It's sorta the same concept but they really could have gone places with it. They shouldn't have just limited it to attacking Cena. They should've attacked everyone without bias, and on both shows.
ya I feel you man its all bs ,If I wear a NWO wolfpac T-shirt thats old and lame get out of here, but if some kids wears a gay cena you cant see me shirt he's the shit and gets all the pussy..
As fun as it was to watch Sting join the nWo (and even if the storyline was ever so predictable in that you knew Sting would join the Wolfpac), the one thing that I can't get over is the fact that there's very few members in the Wolfpac, yet the nWo Black and White are backing down despite having the most members.
COME ON!!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME? This explains why at this time while Stone Cold Steve austin was surfacing as champion in the wwe, wcw was slopping in the ratings.....Here you have Sting who is supposed to be the leader of wcw, the phenom of wcw, join the wolfpack only to play second fiddle to Kevin Nash and The Macho Man??? AFTER LOSING THE TITLE TO MACHO MAN, BECAUSE OF KEVIN NASH A MONTH PREVIOUS?!.......WHAT A BAD STORY LINE!!!!!!!
Wolfpac was wack as fuck. This is the angle that started the downfall of the WCW. nWo vs nWo was a terrible idea that completely devalued the WCW brand.
Yep you saw it comming but you still cheered for it and you loved to see the Stinger in the red and black. Plus in the wolfpac i mean come on which to choose if i was you. The group out to get you if you get to big or the group with the guys who like to have fun? Duh fun guys. Plus the red and black looked way cooler than white and black. I'm just saying
nah tha man shoulda stayed WCW,, this put him a back burner to kevin nash, but if the company was smart , he would stayed wcw and formed his on shit and fought for the title, this coulda ben great amd still going if it wasnt for shitty management
And a year later Owen would die attempting the same entrance. If Owen had worked for WCW by that time with Bret... we all know he'd still be alive. Its sad to say that, but it's true considering Sting did the rafter-entrance multiple times.
he got injured and was out of the picture. he had knee surgery and a LOT of physical therapy for when he made a comeback in 99 and feuded with nash for the title...there's a spot on nitro (one of those monday nights) where NWO black and white has the advantage...and nash gets on the mic and says that they're trying to take out the wolfpac. they said "you got macho...but you're not gonna get us" or something like that.
That was a great moment but I wish the Wolfpac would have amounted to something afterwards. First instead of tweeners, they became good guys to quickly. And when you were a good guy in WCW you were gonna get beat up. And that's what happened.
It should have been all out war black & white vs black & red with the Wolfpac being tweener and getting some wins.
I was at this very show with great seats if anybody has the video when Raven's flock came and sat in the crowd on this same night I was in the seats behind them I would like to see that
It was quite obvious that Sting was going to join the Wolfpac- especially when Sting was already feuding with the nWo and Hogan frequently in years past. I think every fan knew in the back of their minds that Sting was eventually going to join- especially when Luger suggested that Sting do the same.
But, with that said, there's no denying that it was still cool to see it happen when it did. Predictable as it was, you still tune in to see things like this because it's entertaining and cool.
WCW tried to act like this was some sort of hard decision for Sting and that it was some big surprise if he joined the Wolfpac.
Let's see, according to the storyline, he hated Hogan. He feuded with the black and white for the previous two years. His best friend was already in wolfpac, and the Wolfpac was the babyface stable with Sting also being a huge babyface.
So to me, this was just one of those things you saw coming a mile away.
Only Nash and Macho were members of the black and white nWo for so long too. I don't really remember what brought on the split to begin with. I enjoyed the period in WCW. I was one of the last interesting things they did. A few months later everything fell apart for that company. Sting could have torn up the red and black shirt and revealed a WCW shirt lol. Would you have expected that?
@StuUngar well yea, but you gotta remember, sting was the franchise, he was the golden boy, wCw's go-to guy. going over to the wolfpac, even though the wolfpac were tweeners (usually good but underhanded) he was still joining the nWo, thereby betraying wCw. it was a big deal.
@StuUngar but still regardless of the lack of surprise, ya gotta admit, it was exciting to see happen after all that time of Sting being a loner really and him joining a faction such as Wolfpac
@stingerdrake2000 how long was sting in wolf pac for? it wasnt long at all i remember the week after this he came out with red and black face paint and that was pretty much it after that he wasnt seen with wolfpace anymore
@StuUngar I guess, but the execution was brilliant, with him having the red and black underneath the black and white. At least for all the kids at the time who were still a bit naive, this was very exciting. Sting joining the Wolfpac was all anyone could talk about at school the next day. Same when he came out with red and black paint the week after.
@StuUngar hence the "twist" that he would join the black and white it wasn't a good twist i mean had he come down wearing the red and black paint instead that would have been sweet i know you are talking about the buildup though i agree it was a weak forced story but stinger rocked the shit anyway
Look at this now, it's kinda stupid. But back then OMG! It was the biggest thing EVAR!!11 I remember being uber excited about it and even MORE excited when I found out that the Wolfpack was in the WCW/NWO Revenge game for N64 lol. Those were the days man.
kinda ironic that for all of wcw's fuck ups one thing they could get right was putting sting in a safe rig as oppose to the set up own hart was put in by wwf
I use to watch WCW just to see Sting, everything else was so lame to me. As soon as he showed on the show, my night was complete. LOL Good times.

i didnt get this....just 2 months prior to this, nash cost sting the wcw championship to randy savage at spring stampede
fearthewrath2000 2 years ago
if you think about it, yes its strange, but it was Sting's decision.

I honestly didn't care for this moment.
So to me, this was just one of those things you saw coming a mile away.

as a kid none of us saw this though...most people that are watching these old videos were little kids back in the day

@StuUngar but still regardless of the lack of surprise, ya gotta admit, it was exciting to see happen after all that time of Sting being a loner really and him joining a faction such as Wolfpac
stingerdrake2000 1 year ago 35
@stingerdrake2000 agreed and it wouldn't have been the first time sting and luger didn't join the same side.

@stingerdrake2000 how long was sting in wolf pac for? it wasnt long at all i remember the week after this he came out with red and black face paint and that was pretty much it after that he wasnt seen with wolfpace anymore

@StuUngar they tried to make you believe it was a huge switch and it wasn't, it was almost as said as the finger poke of doom.
bokprop420 1 year ago
@StuUngar I guess, but the execution was brilliant, with him having the red and black underneath the black and white. At least for all the kids at the time who were still a bit naive, this was very exciting. Sting joining the Wolfpac was all anyone could talk about at school the next day. Same when he came out with red and black paint the week after.

@StuUngar bro u gotta remember alot of us were little kids back then. our minds couldn't process the obvious lmao
bubbagiznits 11 months ago 2
@StuUngar hence the "twist" that he would join the black and white it wasn't a good twist i mean had he come down wearing the red and black paint instead that would have been sweet i know you are talking about the buildup though i agree it was a weak forced story but stinger rocked the shit anyway

Look at this now, it's kinda stupid. But back then OMG! It was the biggest thing EVAR!!11 I remember being uber excited about it and even MORE excited when I found out that the Wolfpack was in the WCW/NWO Revenge game for N64 lol. Those were the days man.
shiningwizard327 2 years ago 2
kinda ironic that for all of wcw's fuck ups one thing they could get right was putting sting in a safe rig as oppose to the set up own hart was put in by wwf
