80's wrestling was more entertaining because everything seemed real. The trash talk was realistic. Racist to a degree and personal. That's how you got proper heat. You insult people, a culture or whatever it takes to get people to hate you. In today's day and age the only person I see getting "heat" is Vicki Guerrero because of her annoying ass voice and screaming. Piper, Hammer and Heenan showed what it truly takes to be a heel. Culture is different today I get it, but this IS wrestling!
3:24 ghostbusters promo for wwf more to come it was great for 1984 hit movies beverly hills cop & Ghostbusters to play their copyright theme in 1985 at the time with all the 80's classic music that could do wwf programming like phil collins for saturday night's main event too bad beverly hills cop & a bunch of 80's that air on wwe on demand are dubbed as we know if they show this on demand theyll dub ray parker's theme as well
i was 8 years old when this was taped and watching wwf all the time. in my opinion, todays wwe product lacks the excitement that the 80's delivered. i think saturation has a role, but i think the characters today are less appealing.
If they would have given the Hammer a better gimmick and Heenan instead of Hart he would have been a great world champion because as far as matches go he's never had a dud that I've seen.
Truly, truly the Golden Ages of professional wrestling; notice one thing about the promos with Mean Gene: he usually ends up getting insulted with some quick comments by the other guys!
And gool ol' Mean Gene just plays along as part of the acts!!!...
Yes, I do agree with you on that, brother...the managers were usually the meanest ones!!!
Orton's voice is so cool... That's something you don't hear in wrestling anymore; those big, distinctive, intimidating voices. Gee, I miss these days. Anyone else feel that the absence of managers is affecting the quality of today's wrestling. it just seems to be one of the missing elements that made it work: A guy has no personality, so what, stick him with a witty , cocky, loud mouth & all he has to do is get it done in the ring. I think some careers in WWE could have been salvaged this way..?
I can only imagine how much a pain in the ass (albeit necessary) doing these promos were for both mean gene and the wrestlers. I mean doing the promos for the same matches ALLLL over the country and specifing the arena they would perform. wow
This was the best wrestling, outstanding interviews that we will never see in wrestling again. I sure wish I could turn back the clock and relive the great times at those matches we used to go to every month.
Going to a house show in the 80's for the WWF was awesome. I usually went there wound up with a few friends or my cousin. 3 hrs of a great friggen time. And in Chicago they were in the suburbs and on a Saturday usually. Oh the babe fest there to OW!!!! Girls with barley much on lol
heenan is the most hilarious guy in wrestling of all time . . . HOWEVER, he looks a like a times square pimp reject in that get up he's wearing. that HAD to be done as an inside joke or he is maybe covering up something. idk.
Some great wrestling legacy up there with Piper, Pat Patterson and Ray Stevens... plus, no one did the juice like Mark & Jose...Greg Valentine has a lot of charisma when he'd doing the bigot gimmick... the more I watch these promos, the more it reminds me rassllin will NEVER be as good as this again :(
IF SOME ONE CAN SHOW ME FUNNIER PROMO'S THAN BOBBY HEENAN ....I LIKE TO SEE IT ....GOLD ...PURE GOLD

Do we need more proof that Rowdy Roddy and Cowboy Bob were wrestling's first openly gay couple?

Yeah, the heels back in those days weren't afraid to get a little politically incorrect to get heat.
