Far west? The cloud hit Adelaide... after the wind changed. The test was rushed. I guess they couldn't be stuffed checking the weather before setting off the bomb. As for the aborigines: the english troops were told if they told of the aborigines that the english fried, they would be hanged or given 30 years jail.

what is there to say? It's truly horrendous! Given the attitude white Australia had towards the Aboriginal people at the time of the tests, it's not difficult to believe that the top brass saw the Aboriginal people in the Maralinga area as "collateral damage" or "good test subjects".
