  • EXCELLENT!

  • A huge 'whip-back' to my teenage years. I loved this then and I love it now!

  • That Lynsey sure was a babe back then, and as articulate as they come musically, and lyrically!

  • I think george best has this bird in the sack.

  • John Alderton saw him in a Joe Orton Play in Harrogate excellent actor I remember him from ,"Please Sir".But I love LDP! ;) Is she still Stardust or has she moved on ! :)

  • What's Nancy Sinatra doing here?

  • @doubleotwentyone I thought I was the only one who spotted that! At 0:36, right?!

Not that I don't like Nancy... I quite like Nancy, actually. :-)

  • @GarryHarriman thats just what i was gonna say

  • 0:32 isn't LdP.I think it's Nancy Sinatra.

  • @GarryHarriman Yeah... you and me both, mate! Remember her at the piano with Storm In A Teacup? Bloody good sort, isn't she?

  • is LDP still living in that estate of gothic inglenooky houses in Hampstead/Parliament field?? She did this thoughtful wordy song on the David Nixon Show called 'round and round' I recall, wish I could find it.

  • Oh honestly CD!

  • Wish Amazon.co.uk got this song so I can buy it to download it onto my itunes. I love this song so much. I have an vinyl and it is no good to me.

  • They showed the TV-series on danish TV too. Like all british TV it was top entertainment.

  • just dug out the original on 7" vinyl..sad or what??>>but great track, fab voice..

  • This is the actual single that made the UK charts but the version that Lynsey sang for the John Alderton/Pauline Collins series was a different version.

  • Here in Canada, we only got a bit of this great song, used as the signature tune of the mid-70's sitcom/Britcom shown on the CBC, of th same title. I stumbled upon a copy on eBay and then her on the always well-informed youtube. Thanks for posting this great one!

  • yeah why cant i find this on itunes??

  • Lovely cameos of a very, very pretty girl at 0:37, 0:58 and 1:28!

  • it would be great if everyone got this on i-tunes and returned it to the charts 35 years after its first trip to the top ten - we can use all the cheering up we can get these days!

  • It is interesting to note that the BBC's interest in Lynsey waned quite considerably for many years after she scored this hit for an ITV comedy. So much so, they didnt even want her to win Eurovision in 1977.

  • one of those ultimate cheers you up pop hits from the 70's - anyone got Lynsey performing this from her many TV appearances back then???

  • I watched the sitcom in Boston when It was the only British sitcom on American TV at all(save Monty Python, which wasn't a sitcom). That was in 1976, and the Brit comedy invasion that I was waiting for("Who the hell needs HAPPY DAYS-why can't we have Selwyn Froggit!-Americans are so stupid!")didn't happen until the 90s.

  • Why is there a photo of Nancy Sinatra at 0:27?

  • The kind of singer you want to sing along with.

  • I remember watching this UK domestic sit-com that starred real-life husband & wife John Alderton & Pauline Collins. Sure would be nice to see some clips from that show.

  • Another touch of Spector-ish magic on this Top 10 classic from 1974. Lynsey wrote and produced the tune, and won an Ivor Novello award for it too.

  • Spector=ish Ha , ha. ha, Bad pop at it's best.

  • So so many memorys of the seventees come flooding back with this, wish I was back there now...Happy days!!!

  • Nancy is in there presumably because she covered Lynsey's first hit "Sugar Me".

  • Very good looking woman.

  • This was the theme to an ITV sitcom that was very popular. Lynsey was on form as usual, but somehow I prefer Won't Somebody Dance With Me as it sounded classier. However, even if she sung the London phone book, I'd still think it was good as she was so beautiful.

  • I remember it.

  • This woman is NOT a good singer. In fact is IS TERRIBLE.

  • Love this tune, Thanks 4 sharing :-)

  • Reminds of my great childhood. How I wish I could have that back

  • Oh yes you are right, there is a photo of Nancy Sinatra in the gallery. (Can't understand why) the rest are Lydsey de Paul. Beautiful girl and a beautiful song.

  • My wife & I loved the "No Honestly" TV series. Living in the USA, we did not know the theme was a successful record release in the UK. Nothing over here in the USA, as usual! Thanks for posting this! It's great!!!

  • I love this song,thanks for posting.

  • i wow the wall of sound/Phil Spector-y vibe!

  • Remember the tune well.

But why is there a photograph of Nancy Sinatra in the gallery?

  • i was just wondering that myself exactly when i saw your comment.

  • great song - i have a video somewhere...Will try and post it.

  • Haven't heard this for years! Nice one!

  • very good!!
