I casually walked a S5 couple days ago in my SG 335i Coupe...granted, I had a $279 JB+ Piggy set at only 50% helping me out with 60hp and 70tq.
The S5 is gorgeous though...more of a E-class coupe/ 6-series GT competitor though.
The new Audi S4 is more of a 335i rival...it's great as well...Audi really matched/beat the 335i by a hair. Audi did have 3 years after the 335i was made and they copied the 6-cy FI..but with 4wd :( and LSD :)
Unfortunately Audi's are priced terribly here in the US.

Yeah, Car and Driver put the 335i closer to 325-330 hp...BMW didn't want to cannibalize M3 sales by making it's sibling, the 335i, seem too powerful. That is why a simple tune and supplementary cooling / gasoline and you are in the 400WHP range.

The audi has 4.2 two liters nd only 50 horsepower more than in inline six thats alot heavier and you guys think that the 335i shouldnt even be in its class yet your saying its nice. @TheEryk03 audi may be more stylish and all that crap but not a lot of cars compete with bmw engines ... let`s face it ... that is an S5, the prestigious S Line from Audi and the BMW is just an ordinary 3 series with a 3 litre twin turbo engine ... from the rims I think it doesnt even have the M packet and still it`s faster than the audi who has 50 more BHP. By the way the M3 2001 had a 3.2 litre engine and the audi S4 2002 had a 4.2 litre V8 and still the difference was only 1 HP.

@TheEryk03 335i is a tuners car. 250$ into the engine and it can reach 380hp to the wheels easily. for an audi naturally aspirated engine to reach those number you gota drop atleast 5000$ to the engine. i'd choose the 335i anyday.
BMW's interiors are spartan because unlike the girly Audi interiors, YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO FOCUS AND ENJOY DRIVING THE CAR. BMW always mention this philosophy! I own a 335i and every function, luxury and kit is in the driver's instant reach. Plus the torque is amazing!!!! S4 is nice too, I'll admit that, but 4WD and all that weight is terrible. Audi had 3 years to respond to the 335i and they barely even beat it WITH LSD help.

BMW engines are about as sophisticated as it gets, they were producing 321 hp out of a naturally aspirated 3.2l straight six back in '96. Sure, I love Audi's and find them to be all around classier than BMW. But BMW's are definitely sportier.

Audi s5 is a luxury sport coupe, and is more the size of the BMW 650. Which the Audi is faster, still by a half sec. As well as the 335i, and the 550. In the street Audi wins with s5 and it's a luxury coupe, Only .06 sec. Dif in this race. Compare it wth 335xi.

they're both very good cars, mostly from the rivalry between the brands
audi fans/drivers will hate bmw/fans drivers, but both brands have their strong points.
audi seems to have exhaust down pat, while bmw seems to get handling pretty good
and yes the bimmer didn't destroy the audi in the lap, but a win is a win, a straight line drage race would prove nothing, a track race can prove so much more about a car

The audi has 4.2 two liters nd only 50 horsepower more than in inline six thats alot heavier and you guys think that the 335i shouldnt even be in its class yet your saying its nice. Twin turbos get you accelerating alot quicker than a v8 and the audi is suppose to be a daily car not only a track car. Luxury in the s5 is way better

@dopicitu crapp hmm? what does the 335i seem to have that a s5 dosent? I own both of the cars. the s5 seemed to get alot of heads turned. The 335i is a really good car. Its just about your opinion. you seem to like the 335i. I seem to like the s5. just a matter of opinion. you like tight steering and a hard acceleration. Yea thats nice but only when you want it too.

BMW is a pretty big Company its like GM and Toyota and other major Companies Audi is a Private more exclusive company part of VW just like Lamborghini and so forth... BMW is bad but not better then Audi. Also I dont work for Audi but I've driven enough and met people who have driven enough Sport. Luxury cars to make a Logical Statement. @xxxk213 jajajaja I drive 2 vehicles a 2010 CTS-V that destroys the M3 and M5 and a 2006 Maserati Grandsport which im currently modifying. by the way sorry that the CTS-V cost way more then the M3 and the Insurance and maintenance fees on the maserati make the M series look like a toyota so don't hate that I can afford a shitty M series but refuse to sink down to mediocrity, I can't wait till I purchase the R8 Spyder for my 22nd Birthday on October

@TheEryk03 audi may be more stylish and all that crap but not a lot of cars compete with bmw engines ... let`s face it ... that is an S5, the prestigious S Line from Audi and the BMW is just an ordinary 3 series with a 3 litre twin turbo engine ... from the rims I think it doesnt even have the M packet and still it`s faster than the audi who has 50 more BHP. By the way the M3 2001 had a 3.2 litre engine and the audi S4 2002 had a 4.2 litre V8 and still the difference was only 1 HP.

@TheEryk03 335i is a tuners car. 250$ into the engine and it can reach 380hp to the wheels easily. for an audi naturally aspirated engine to reach those number you gota drop atleast 5000$ to the engine. i'd choose the 335i anyday.

BMW's interiors are spartan because unlike the girly Audi interiors, YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO FOCUS AND ENJOY DRIVING THE CAR. BMW always mention this philosophy! I own a 335i and every function, luxury and kit is in the driver's instant reach. Plus the torque is amazing!!!! S4 is nice too, I'll admit that, but 4WD and all that weight is terrible. Audi had 3 years to respond to the 335i and they barely even beat it WITH LSD help.

@myjanuary151987 ..... I love youtube ignorance. First, it's an inline 6, not a V6. Accompanied by twin turbos tuned to ~8.8 psi. BMW engines are about as sophisticated as it gets, they were producing 321 hp out of a naturally aspirated 3.2l straight six back in '96. Sure, I love Audi's and find them to be all around classier than BMW. But BMW's are definitely sportier.

@TheKatoom They are, but if I could have two cars I would likely get both an Audi and BMW. I would choose the Audi looking for a more luxurious ride ( A/S6, A/S8). And get a BMW with sportiness in mind. Possibly an E92 M3, modded 335i, or even a properly modded E36 M3

@myjanuary151987 It depends on what you want. Not everyone wants 4 wheel and not everyone wants 2 rear wheel. It's like that with any car. It depends on what the person wants. I would prefer a 6 cylinder with the twin turbo like the BMW because its more fuel efficient and combine that with power going to 2 wheels instead of 4 also increases fuel efficiency......but thats just me

Audi s5 is a luxury sport coupe, and is more the size of the BMW 650. Which the Audi is faster, still by a half sec. As well as the 335i, and the 550. In the street Audi wins with s5 and it's a luxury coupe, Only .06 sec. Dif in this race. Compare it wth 335xi.
