You, sir, have now found yourself in the musician circle on Facebook as the current guy for us to make fun of. You should be proud. Heck, go use that as a pickup line, since it's more truthful than "I'm a jazz musician."
Eh... Improvisation has been around since the very beginning of music, not because Louis Armstrong "dropped his music" All this Expert-Village crap is nothing but, well, crap.
thats total bull there are faaaar more than 3 types of improv and improv has been around for as long as there has been music, not since armstrong. as great as armstrong was, no one can 'invent' improv.
that story is not true. that is when louis armstrong started scatting like Heebie Jeebiesnot improvising. improvising was happening way before that . get ur facts straight retard!
You guys are terrible even though he may not be able to improve this lessons are free theirs no reason to be so mean and i play clairnet and thats a master of all the saxs after all saxophones come from the clairnet And eddie daniels owns yall sax players execpt for paul desmond cause he was awesome and dont forget phill woods also plays clarinet
ok first, saxes came from brass. the origanal sax was an instrument that you buzz into. then the other woodwinds came along. Second, i agree with you on the other people being too mean.
saxes were invented by a belgium clarinetist named adolphe sax in 1846, he also invented other instruments that were never as popular like the saxhorn (brass)
This guy should be Banned from Education for so many reasons, A. he cant play saxophone. B. He doesn't know what he's talking about, And C he is a complete tool
what i have learned over the years as a jazz musician is modal jazz focused on melody, not scales. look at miles' "so what". 2 chords, if all you did was played scales it would sound bad. They mostly focused on creating lyrical melodies instead of just playing changes.
to all those who say he sucks, wheres your teaching video? I would love to see you guys do better then him but you wont because your all a bunch of hating numbnuts who dont post videos
The "paper drop" incident was about armstrong discovering Scat-singing (not a fact, more of a "legend" :) ), not improvisation on his instrument, and there are actually 5 different types of improvisation; Formulatic, Paraphrase, Motivic, Collectiv and Modal improvisation. Otherwise, nice video...
lol Louis was not the first, jazz improv dates back to 1900. however Louis was the first GREAT improviser you could say and was the best at the time but improv had been going all long before him.
wow bro could i borrow your light saver?.... oh never mind, that's a dislike bar....

I'm pretty sure that improvisation was really popular a lot earlier than ARMSTRONG, think J.S. Bach, etc.
