@SirEpicality i have skyrim and my character in it is very powerful. with that said, I'd have to agree with you. it is pretty dull. i played it for 2 weeks, maxed my level, raised the difficulty to master and STILL couldnt find an enemy that challanged me. its really slow gameplay, 1 dagger is as fast as 2 and you cant switch between melee, magic, and acrhery like this game.
I wish people would stop comparing it to other action games though... Comparing it to DMC just makes you look bad because everyone who actually went deep into DMC's engine instantly knows the height of your experimentation was 'high time then shoot them lots'.
I heard these same lines with Dragon Age 2 and that turned into a giant button mashing snorefest. Show me someone playing it, perhaps an in depth look at the controls and I'll be your biggest fan. Don't sit tell me you want to "bring me into the action." I'm really interested in the game, but if the combat consists of me pressing a over and over, I'm going to be pissed.
@chenzi1234 Skyrim is a pretty good game. The quests are unique. Some of the locations get a bit linear though. The combat isnt really much to brag about either, just pressing the same button. This game seems to have funner combat, dont really know how to quests will be though. Me personally? i'd probably get this because i prefer fantasy type games over realisticly styled games any day.
it seems like there has been put a lot of collaboration among the devs of this game.I really believe that its going to be really awesome game, now I just wait for the review.
from 7:02 on lookd like a darn fighting game. and this is supposed to be a RPG.....
lol thats awesome i hope the story is good as well but its been a long time since i had good combat in a rpg that i liked. never really like fable and dark stalkers was to boringto me. ths seems like dmc with a rog story i think i may like it.

Totally lovin the flame blast that blast your target and propels you backwards away from them. Brilliant Mage ability! It'll make a good Rogue ability too. Like a blast of flying daggers that also has you flying back away from the target.
@AlaCarcuss There's no such thing as a hardcore gamer. Very few MMOs have any action elements in them. Judging by the video, combat is a bit deliberate not twitchy. Turn based gameplay lends itself better to TRPGs than CRPGs and if you want that type of gameplay, then play a TRPG or a CRPG from Japan. This game is not either of those things and as such you have no reason to complain. Lastly, this is a combat video, obviously they aren't going to talk about the RP aspects of the game.
@ThePhilosogamer - Yes there is, I play naked - i.e. hardcore :-)
On a more serious note, I'm 50 years old and have been playing video games since the late 70's. If by TRPG you mean Tactical RPG, then there was a time when all CRPG's were TRPG's. Also, no such thing as a CRPG from Japan - they're JRPG's (which a not RPG's at all).
Some examples of great Turn based RPG's: Fallout 1 & 2, Arcarnum, ToEE, Wizardy (1-8), All SSI Gold Box games. You following??
@AlaCarcuss I was hoping to avoid explaining all of my reasoning, but I guess I have no choice. First, regarding hardcore gamers: There is no such thing as a hardcore gamer, because it is not defined by specific or objective parameters. In other words, what one person calls hardcore another calls average, or a profession. Granted, some people play games more than others and with different arbitrary restrictions, but at the end of the day they are all gamers. Next: RPG classification.
@AlaCarcuss I'm assuming that you are insinuating that all JRPGs are CRPGs which is blatantly false. The Kings Field series, Demon's Souls, Tales Of series, Star Ocean series, and Ys series are JRPGs, but aren't CRPGs. The classification JRPG tells you nothing about the game other than where it was made and, as such, isn't worth using. So, yes there is such a thing as a CRPG from Japan (Dragon Quest). Next: Why this is relevant.
@ThePhilosogamer - No, you've missunderstood me completely. Although originally the term JRPG meant "Japaneese Role Playing Game", that is no longer the case. A JRPG is a genre unto itself and completely distinct from Western cRPG's. Examples of JRPG's: Final Fantasy, Chrono Trigger, Persona series... etc.
@AlaCarcuss Kings Field, Demons/Dark Souls etc. are actually Western style RPG's (or ARPG's) that just happens to be made in Japan. Conversely, a game like Septerra Core is a JRPG made in the US.
@ThePhilosogame - As such, you've got it completly the wrong way round - the term JRPG tells you NOTHING about where the game is made, only the type of game it is (genre) as there are quite a few JRPG's NOT made in Japan and plenty of CRPG's that are made in Japan (Wizadry: Tale of the Forsaken Land on PS2 - another example of a western CRPG made in Japan - though definately NOT a JRPG)
@AlaCarcuss No, I understood. I'm saying that you are wrong. What you've stated is derived from the logic that the labels JRPG and classic RPG, and the perceptions associated with them, existed before their traits that defined them which makes no sense and is highly ethnocentric. No one calls Demon's Souls a WRPG in the same way that no one calls Dragon Age: Origins a JRPG despite their cultural gameplay similarities, so obviously the terms have retained their meaning.
@AlaCarcuss The terms JRPG and WRPG are in the same situation as the word "race" in that it has a definition specific to the culture. If we took the word race at its actual definition, then there would be only one; human, but that isn't the case because we, as a culture, foolishly say so. Similarly, JRPG actually means Japanese role playing game, but has other implications in the West (turn-based combat, unchangeable plot, etc.).
@AlaCarcuss Incidentally, there's a link to my blog in the about me section of my channel in which I elaborate on the classifications of RPGs. It's in MAP#2 - Action RPGs.
@AlaCarcuss Also, to correct two of your earlier mistatements; a tactical RPG has movement defined by a parameter. Just because an RPG is turn-based doesn't make it a tactical RPG. And Western style RPGs are not action RPGs. The style just refers to the art direction and the way the gameplay is generally conducted (i.e. no visible ATB gauges). Bioware is one of the companies that has defined the Western RPG and has never once made an action RPG unless you count Mass Effect.
@DamienYok I agree. I cited Mass Effect since it's the only RPG they've made that has "actiony" gameplay, though ME2's pretty much a third-person shooter with some RPG elements tacked on. Either way, this game should hopefully join the Souls games in the small pantheon of great ARPGs.
@AlaCarcuss This discussion necessitates me to emphasize the importance of this game. This is the first game to truly meld the visually spectacular and gratifying combat of an action game with the scope and customization of an RPG, and could potentially mark an evolution of the genre standard. Even if the game doesn't do well, it needs to exist if this genre is going to germinate in the mainstream's consciousness.
animation looks cool..looks like I'm watching a movie...can't wait to test out the game..looks pretty realistic..I love the characters..I'm all about bad-ass games!!! lol I like the various options that you can have.
Finally some designers that get there's a difference between 'believable' and 'realistic'. Realistic games and realistic action movies would be painfully anti-climatic.
Oh,so they want to present the RPG gamers how fun is a hacky-slashy-button-mashy game can be.I guess I'll have to lower my expectations :(
All I want is good, varied twitch-happy combat,I'll forgive the dull voice acting for that any day.I like the aesthetic so far,the story,I'm kinda neutral,it's easy for a story to suck me in,doesn't have to be that good.
@JanPospisil42 Yes, because with the lead designer of Morrowind and Oblivion, Ken Rolston, overseeing its development, A story penned by R.A. Salvatore, and character designs by Todd McFarlane, it's just destined to be utter shit, right?
Please, crawl back to whatever bro-game you wandered away from and leave the rest of us to enjoy this.
@NyxBeta R.A. Salvatore writes the same shit over and over, none of his books are any good. McFarlane is about as relevant today as MC Hammer. Ken Rolston is a cool dude though, it still baffles me he's the main guy on this abomination.
in terms of combat this game really rocks..
