I love 3rd strike but I grew up playing SNK and Capcom fighter's so I do understand both side of the game, 3rd strike is not to bad but I prefer M,O,T,W better it's more balanced but not by much.

Tiers do matter to a certain extent. For instance, YSB deserves a LOT of credit for competing at such a high level with a low tier character.

But at the same time, skill is obviously the most important aspect of the game.

Alex/Ibuki arnt low tier. The last tier list I saw had Yun/Chun&Ken as top, Sean/12&Hugo as low with everyone else being mid.

The people playing Alex and Ibuki are also good players with their characters.

The 1st paragraph in the description is based on loads of YSB vids I've seen.

The title of the vid is my opinion of YSB's performance to at least reach the final of the Gamers vision RB. If you feel the title is misleading then fair enough because you are also entitled to your opinion

what i'm getting at is 12 is statistically just awful. it's objective than compared to other characters (other than sean although i find sean to be slightly better) he has massive disadvantages, it's entirely undeniable if you compare all their qualities. it doesn't mean if yamazaki the great 12 player beats a chun player that chun isn't the best or second best char in the game, it just means yamazaki played MUCH better to overcome the disadvantages. but they exist whether he does or not.

Most tier lists are flawed. If a player can use a so-called "low/bottom-tier" character and win against top tiers consistently, which has been demonstrated by players such as YSB with Hugo, KSK with Alex, Kuroda with Q, and Seanawesome with Sean, than the lists can't be as accurate as they would have you believe.

You're probably thinking of 'tier lists' a la Smash Bros. in which some characters are flat-out statistically better than others. The tiers being discussed here as with many hardcore fighting games are simply the winning record of certain characters in high-end play. A character being 'low tier' in a game like this by no means suggests that character being 'bad'.

no you misunderstand what is meant by tier list. winning with a lower tier character doesn't mean that character isn't worse. when it comes down to it ability can potentially overcome anything if you have enough. if you can predict everything the enemy will ever do and your char can die in one hit and only do 1 pixel damage, you can still win by parrying everything and jabbing them to death. the important thing is that you have a massive disadvantage. it's not as extreme in reality obviously

however consider 12. he has very few combos (almost exclusively require supers and are still weak). most of his specials have slow startups and has no instant startups. sis supers are very simple to parry and don't require more than one usually. 12 takes massive damage and doesn't deliver especially good damage. his moves are often vulnerable if they are blocked even at range to fast attacks and he'#s massively dependant on his quick air game-but some chars easily can anti air like urien and oro

The only characters YSB beats in this video, Urien aside, are other low tier characters, and then finally loses to ken.

No doubt YSB's Hugo is awesome, but the header is misleading to say the least.

Some tier charts propose 5 slots (top, high, mid, low and bottom), in which case "low tier" would not denote the lowest tier ranking, bottom tier would. Also, the only way to accurately and objectively gauge any sort of tier ranking for 3s would be to base it off the characters frequency of use in high level tournament play. At the last tougeki (and also the one prior to it), There was only 1 Alex player (Zangoefu). Which would probably place Alex in the bottom/low tier slot.

you probably know that the tier rankings are based upon many factors and use of play doesn't come in as one. the reason it doesn't is because if it did it would totally skewed the results and like you said alex would be at the bottom. low tier doesn't mean they suck, it just means they aren't as good of made characters at the uppers.
