  • this can happen... it's just the same note

    it's inspiration perhaps

  • They sound nothing alike... U foos r fuckin stupid!!!

  • Bono is crap

  • I like two bands, but this is no a riff off,

The Killers song is most STRONGER in this riff ... but is not the same chord even...

go get laid with a woman ... suck ball!

  • Sound similar it's one thing. Rip off it's another.

  • Similar yes. Rip off NO!!!!

  • they sound like shit together

  • wasted my F*cking time!

  • i hate u2 and the killlers!!! what the fuck am i doing here!!!??

  • Yeah, when you played them together, man I couldn't believe how clear as day it made it!!!!! NOT

  • did the killers rip of u2? I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF SUCH SHIT NO THEY DID NOT

  • i really love both bands!

  • If you "retired" every chord progression that had already been used the airways would have fallen silent years ago! the odd bit of imitation helps innovation anyway! you pluck a string on a guitar, hit a piano key bang a drum, you've invariably copied someone somewhere!!

  • I admit they do sound kinda the same but every band uses bands they love to help and influence their music. And who cares? U2 and The Killers are two amazing bands.

  • r.i.p the seconds of your life you wasted too make this pointless video.

  • @jamescpowell haha amen brother!!! that was a good one

  • @jamescpowell haha amen brother!!! that was a good one lol

  • NO THEY DIDN'T... THEY ARENT EVEN THE SAME NOTES..

LONG LIVE U2 BEST BAND IN THE WORLD

LONG LIVE THE KILLERS SECOND BEST BAND IN THE WORLD!!

    MEXICO <3

  • not even close

  • Hmmm, pretty close.

  • At the very most both guitars are on the same octave and string, that is all.

  • they only take 3 or 4 notes from U2 but its not a steal

  • shit huge ripoff, both bands use guitar

  • eh they have similar sound but not completely the same yea but fuck the killers

  • @FOBguitar Fuck The Killers? Fuck you. :')

  • @FOBguitar

fuck the killers...lol a fall out boy is trying to debate about music...

probably this is why...Brandon Flowers on Fall Out Boy: "Emo is dangerous. There’s a creature inside me that wants to beat all those bands to death." (NME, 2006).

i wish the fucking bassist had suicide.

  • god both songs are magical

    LONG LIVE BOTH

  • ever heard of inspiration?

  • did they? helll no they didnt

  • brandon looks like larry

  • the two songs are in two different keys so absolutely not, it just osunds similar

  • um dude the only similarity is that it sounds like they may have used the same brand guitar. lol

  • . Dude, If this was from a U2 song, 1.) Brandon Flowers MAIN influence was/ is U2 so he wouldnt do that just to do it. & 2.) Even if he did, he would have had to have COPYRIGHT for that part of the song! So wither way its a win win for both of the bands.

  • No but Miley Cyrus ripped off the Killers

  • @UltimteLifeForm which song did she ripp from The Killers? I noticed Miley Cyrus' "Party In The USA" is a TOTAL rip-off of Shaggy's "Wasn't Me."

  • @pressplay44 watch?v=GvgOLAfiVGc&feature=related put that after youtube dot com in your URL bar

  • The Killers are very influenced by U2.

Brandon Flowers once said that his line:"I've got soul, but I'm not a soldier" was inspired by U2's lyrics.

I am huge U2 and Killers fan and they are a lot of similarities there, but surely not ripp offs! :)

  • nope. The Killers certainly did not

  • @PsychoBoxx influence by them, definately, riped of nope

  • Jonjoel deleted my comment pro-U2 I see... If you actually believe in your crappy argument why would you need to hide the evidence against it?

  • No.

  • yeh even if they did U2 suck

  • Yeah, of course they suck. That's why, y'know, the Vertigo tour is the 3rd highest grossing tour of ALL TIME and the 360 tour is the 6th. In the top 20 tours, U2 appears FOUR TIMES. And the Killers (who I love by the way, my 2nd favourite after U2) have actually stated that U2 are their biggest inspiration. Their sound is incredibly like U2's, not that it's a bad thing! Coldplay have ALSO sampled U2's sound...

But yeah U2 clearly must suck, I mean one eejit on YouTube says it so it must be true

  • Well I don't even know why I'm getting into this haha. But saying a band is the Biggest Selling band, doesn't make them good. I'm not saying U2 suck..i'm just saying your argument isn't valid.. It's just opinions

  • no, because they touch different notes

  • Answer: No

  • @rssnov91 Telling people to die is a very sad thing. I hope one day you can grow up and better realize what is appropriate.

  • I don't actually want you to die, that's just silly. It sounded a lot less serious in my head. Sorry if i u took it to heart. Still think you are way off, but again, I wish u no literal harm.

    My bad

  • i can see your point but i've never picked this out before i'd say it's just slight coincidence if you listen to the whole thing you can hear they are both unique songs

  • exactly. I whoever made this video is just trying to find a rip off.

  • not even fucking close

and i love both of these bands by the way <3

  • the killers wouldnt sound half as good as they do now without the influence of U2..... i love both bands too aswell btw :)

  • @roxorgirl13 crawl back into the whole you came out of and die. U2 are rock gods and the killers aren't fit to wipe their asses. Fuck the killers and the rest of the new generation of "Rock" which is less Rock&Roll than than fucking 50's pop.

  • your fucked up

  • The styles are similar but the chords and the feel of the two songs are not the same. U2 is an influence of The Killers so it's not surprising that they sound similar at times. The Killers have enough talent on their own without having to rip off other bands.

  • @caligirl2191 exactly. I think an homage would be more a more appropriate deduction.

  • Yes, they sound very similar. Both phenomenal bands.... Who cares??

  • U2 is the best band in the world. The Killers are the best band of the noughties. Both of these songs are absolutely incredible. Why do you guys have to pit the two greatest bands of our time against eachother?

  • its all down to opinion

  • You gotta remember that both of the bands guitar players have the same kind of guitar, so you might hear certain similarities

  • um.. no.. they both went to their own melody.. similar sound yeah, but all of sam's town has a U2 feel :P it just shows their influences translate through their music.. as does a LOT of music, not just the killers.

  • i love u2, killers are alright.

  • U2 is an inspiration for the killers and theyve even performed together!!!! it does sound similar

  • Well I Gusse The Killers Figured U2 Realy Suck At That Song And Thay Knew Thay Could Make It Soo Much Better!!!

    THE KILLERS ARE AWESOME!!!

  • It sounds similar

  • of course Killers fans will never attest to their favorite MTV 14 year old girl pop band ripped off an historic rock band

  • no definitely not... U2 is one of the killers' biggest inspirations. thats why they sounds like them sometimes. pretty much happens with every band out there... somehow they sound similar to their inspirations in some way... hmm wonder why?

  • they are my 2 favorite bands, but i dont really think they "ripped it off"

  • Sounds nothing like the U2 song.....ffs

  • Brandon Flowers (lead singer of the killers) loves U2, they are his inspiration...

  • also the smiths

  • @pinkzeppline and jhacky04... most modern bands suck

  • ROCK LOBSTAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH

  • BOTH OF THESE RIP OF ROCK LOBSTER.

  • At most 2 chords are played in the same sequance, no big deal, both great bands.

  • No, I don't think the Killers stole this from U2 - and I am a big U2 fan, so I would certainly call it if I thought it were so! Nonetheless, they sounded really good played together like that, so thank you.

  • Comment removed

  • The killers are influnced by U2 for sure. . .They've said it...so no big deal!!!

    I Love them both. . .but...a Day without U2 won't be a Beautiful day. . .So many Albums,so many beautiful songs. ..

Edge Created an unique style...as i say 3 guys sing in U2 : Bono The Edge and his Guitar!!My Life wouldn't be the same without them . .

  • neva. the two bands are friends with eachother and i think we wouldve found out by now, you know?

  • Miracle drug came out first, but saying a riff is similar isn't the same as ripping off a song. The Edge and Dave just have similar guitar styles, it happens all the time. It's hard in this day and age to come up with something completely original.

  • What came out first they were both 2004 weren't they?

  • I love how The Killers' sounds like 1023984029834018409 x better :D <3

  • hells yes

  • 1. that song by the killers was released before miracle drug.

    2. The killers and U2 are both amazing. U2 has a little more skill and experience but i like them both equally.

  • they defenetly dint take anything from U2.

but U2 is better than the killers. have more hits crazy concerts and better songs plus style.

  • No they didnt. SO SHUT UP I LOVE LOVE LOVE THE KILLERS AND U2 SO GET A LIFEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!

  • Its not a rip-off honestly, they're similar in the way it builds up, but U2's has more change ups to it, plus, a bunch of songs have similar riffs, just used differently

  • Doesn't even sound similar

In the U2 song the edge keeps changing notes

  • i'm not gonna say they're nothing like each other because they definitely are... if not the same, but in the killers defense, it isn't a very original guitar solo.

  • they did not rip off U2

  • The Killers - best band in the world.

    Fucking quality live too.

  • you know there are only a certain amount of musical notes in the world which means that eventually every possible combination of them is going to have been done and people are going to have to repeat them!!

  • "stealing" a chordprogression or some music theory/core is totally ok, no one owns musical patterns, BUT, stealing an attitude/arrangement is TOTALLY GAY, should I slide up on the guitar like in nirvanas scentless apprentice? eh no, whatta damn rip off it would appear..... the killers are utterly gay in every single way anyhow...

  • similar yes: at most its influence: to far apart for plagiarism

  • The Killers sampled "Born to Run" in this song. That's fact. End of story.

  • I agree with myChocolateArmy.. it's hard to find a song these days which doesn't sound similar to someone elses song.

Also the killers are huge fans of U2, so if anything they were inspired by them, not ripping them off.

  • well said missbrightside0305 :D

  • well I can hear the simiar chords but like someone says alot of songs are similar that's how groups influence other artists.....Killers are better...hee hee

  • actually both songs sounds alike

  • nuuuuuuuuuuu T.T

  • fail

  • i agree with eveyone else they are different, but i think its just that the guitar chords are similar at that point in time. Some songs actually do have a coincedence in chords somtimes

  • U..are wrong

  • No. Nothing like each other. It just sort of goes nicely together when you play them at the same time.

  • COLEGA VOCÊ DEFECOU NO MEU OUVIDO !

  • Okay they sound a tiny bit similar, like, so minuscule, gonna agree, epic fail.

  • hey its hard to come up with a song that isnt at all similar to something else. so they used the same notes in one little bit of the song, its not enough to be a rip off

  • Epic fail, doesn't sound like it.

  • its ok if the melody is the same. the lyrics cant be the same or someone can sue

  • The two songs are similar, but not enough to be a rip off.

  • lol, they're totally the same! But I like it that The Killers are so influnaced by U2. (:

  • OMG! They're both picking high notes! U2 should sue!

Seriously, there is no similarity. Different chords, different melody, different everything. I wouldn't even call it a coincidence, as that implies they actually have something substancial in common.

  • HELLO???!!! Have you not heard the killers say that they are INFLUENCED by U2? Besides WYWY is WAY BETTER than....whatever that other song was.

  • First part...YES they are influenced. Your song choice is debatable. Both great songs.

  • Probably a coincidencem but still...

  • LOL the killers dont rip off anyone.

  • nope nothing like it.... fail

  • whatever. the killers and u2 sound a lot alike

  • totally not a rip off!

  • killers is the best

  • Doesn't even sound similar

But The Killers were greatly influenced by U2

  • Every artist is a cannibal, every poet is a thief. Art inspires art - always has done, always will. Nothing wrong will it.

  • i like the "the fly" reference

  • i gotta say that's a pretty big rip

  • in my opinion so many bands today rips of u2 and joy division

  • Similar but not ripped, the notes are different. And you can't copyright a rhythm. If you are really looking for a U2 rip look at Shadow of the Day and With or Without You

  • how about you go take a long walk off a short pier.....go STFU

  • similar but the killers completly changed it to their style and seems more like the killers where inspired by u2s style rather than ripping them off and stealing their work

  • prbly an inspiration but not neccesarily a RIP. most of their music has SOME motivation from earlier music

  • so true

  • mmm...I think the killers found inspiration in the U2 track thus modelling their song!

  • I never noticed that before but that's a nice catch!

  • Brandon Flowers has performed with U2...even if it is a deliberate rip off...i doubt anyone really cares...both songs are great and dont sound like the same thing if you dont really look for it so it doesn't really matter i guess...

  • sounds similar but I honestly don't think they ripped it off

search for "Winnie the Pooh conspiracy" on yt - imo way better :)

  • i have thougt of that too..

  • that chorus of that killers song sounds like 'heaven' by bryan adams

  • The Killers were INSPIRED by U2. . . they are fans of them, Dave is a massive fan of The Edge. . .

  • No it doesnt...when over layed it sounds like noise...theres no distinction

  • well they are similar but you can find a lot of bands like this with songs that sound similar. oh and the killers are amazing----->

  • i don't think they ripped off..

U2 and the killers are mates anyway aren't they??

  • haha I mean U2 :D

  • Im a fan of The Killers but God damn did they rip off youtube.

  • U2 not youtube.lol

  • haha yeah its funny. Are you a fan of either band

  • killers are alright i have there first cd it was good,i think they went a little "soft" since then, but the're still good.U2 is a good band they deserve to be in the rock and roll hall of fame but i honestly think they are one of the most overrated bands of alltime or top 20 atleast.

  • No, they didn't do that, they wouldn't. Just a coincedience (i know i spelt that way wrong, lol). Good ears though :)

  • No, they didn't.

  • BUT CLOSE

  • PROBABLY NOT INTENTIONAL

  • F# D A E are the chords for some reason that i play on bass alot. Like everything my guitarist writes..it seems all that fits.

  • With all due respect for U2, The Killers are far better. Who cares what someone does; every modern song was taken from Pachelbel's Kanon.

  • the killers are not better than u2, im sorry but thats rediculas

  • Oh yes they are. Furthermore, your writing is ridiculous.

  • haha ur quick and i cant spell, ill give u that! im not trying to start an argument fella

but u2 are great, not so much these days but Joshua Tree is one of the best albums ever! i just dont think the killers have written anything GREAT (album wise)

    cheers for reply tho

  • Then it's just an opinion. I'm saying U2 are a great and respected band, but I just prefer The Killers; I like their songs best. Peace out.

  • Yeah you said "The Killers are far better"

not, "the killers are far better IN MY OPINION".

  • Just because somebody doesn't put "in my opinion" or "IMO" in every comment that make doesn't make it any less of an opinion.

  • Hahaha don't agree about Killer's being far better but we all respect each others opinion, but you could not be more correct about everyone stealing from Pachelbel's haha kudos!!

  • i don't think it's fair to say who's better..

    it depends on personal opinion..

but i do LOVE the killers!

  • You know, in reality about 80% of pop/rock songs use the same chord progression: either Am F C G for minor or C G Am F for major, or some slight variations.

Beautiful Day and When You Were Young actually have exactly the same chords: When You Were Young is:

    E F# G#m B

    B.Day, transposed, is:

    F# G#m B E

Try it, you'll see what I mean... the point is, nearly all rock songs follow one of 4 or 5 models, and there's no shame in using these techniques - they're used simply because they sound good!

  • If it would be...the two best bands in world, they can do it.
