When I was four, my father let me play with some confederate money and all during my early childhood I was under the impression that "confederate"e meant "fake" because he told me "that's confederate money, it's fake money." now I know better and realize it means phony, as well as willfully ignorant and bigoted,
Roger Ailes co-produced some of the ads and worked alongside Lee Atwater. Roger Ailes, who went before the FEC on ethics violations along with the Republican National Committee but was let go when the commission was deadlocked in deciding whether or not to throw him in jail - is now the president of Fox "News" - now Fox "News" get led like a herd of ignorant cattle. And they wonder why they're told they're too lazy to think for themselves. I take that back; actually they don't.
Has anyone noticed how much the Republican party cries nowadays? Now that this type of scumbag politics has become the norm for the Republicans, it is taking on a transformation to a level of self-absorbed peurile behavior that one usually finds in three-year olds who blame their soiled diapers on anyone cleaning up after them.
Too bad a lot of people don't vote during the mid-terms & teanuts learned where their voting districts are. Now we have a clown show for 2 years.
I own this DVD. My father, my mother and I watched this movie this week. I am 44, my mom and dad are 70 and 73. They nodded their heads along with me while we watched this. It does not matter what political ideals you hold dear, what matters is the matter and manner in which you present your ideals for either approval or dismissal. Always deal from the top of the deck, and you'll always have a clean conscience. Deal from the bottom, and you'll never know if you really would have won or not
"And subconsciously maybe that is part of it. I'm not saying that. But I'm saying that if it is getting that abstract, and that coded, that we are doing away with the racial problem one way or the other. You follow me - because obviously sitting around saying, 'We want to cut this,' is much more abstract than even the busing thing, and a hell of a lot more abstract than 'Nigger, nigger.' "
Lee Atwater explains the GOP's Southern Strategy before his death in 1991:
"You start out in 1954 by saying, 'Nigger, nigger, nigger.' By 1968 you can't say 'nigger' - that hurts you. Backfires. So you say stuff like forced busing, states' rights and all that stuff. You're getting so abstract now you're talking about cutting taxes, and all these things you're talking about are totally economic things and a byproduct of them is blacks get hurt worse than whites.
@rick9565 Agreed on his ruthlessness he was an arrogant mean man and the reason I will NEVER vote for a Republican--they don't see people as humans but only "how can I make another buck off this sucker" all the while claiming to be Christians. Fascism is still alive and well.
@BRIDLEBALLET Oh stop bedwetting you weirdo. Atwater did nothing wrong, he was a great man and an effective adviser. Try thinking for yourself once in awhile.
@greeniem No, I'm not Chinese, and I don't put it in peoples' Coke. Not sure where you got that idea. Now, go worship obama while he lets the oil flow into the chocolate city!
You right-wing nutjobs have always got "worship" rattling around in your brain - no wonder you can be manipulated so easily by someone like Roger Ailes, who is actually employing a simple strategy. A simple strategy for a simplistic audience. Goebbel's propaganda mixed in with right-wing xenophobia, sensationalism, thrown out to ignorant dupes who would rather "worship" a leader than think for themselves or critically analyze any turdblossom they've been fed on a fake "news" sta.
"Try thnking for yourself" - FL! If your comments had hair, they'd be sporting a mullet. If they had reach, they'd show arms longer than your legs - apredominant physical defect of needle-dicked (yes, that's the other) knuckle-dragging inbred rednecks in the SE who go to teabagger rallies and sit drooling tobacco juice, mouths agape, watching Glenn Beck.. And if Beck were in th same room w/you,you'd probably wet yourself. "...try thinking for yourself" - HILARIOUS.
@jbugko Hahaha you certainly hit on all the talking points you were told to believe, huh? You repeat what other people say after being told to think for yourself - and without a hint of irony. I can tell you're another Jared Loughner lefty and that is a scary thing. He was a lib too you know, before becoming apolitical - according to everyone who knows him! But don't let the truth get in the way of your incoherent screed!
"Jared Loughner Lefty"? So, all the "lefties" are now obsessed with the Federal Reserve and currency. Surrrrrrre.
Loughner was constantly raving about money & advocating the return of the gold standard. If Loughner is as much a "lefty" as Glenn Beck - along with every other ignorant right-wing teanut conspiracy theorist out there who watches Beck.
All you've succeeded in proving is that "scumbag politics" are the right's new "gold" standard.
He was a "scumbag politics" officianado. And so is Roger Ailes, president of Fox "News" who leads his audience around by their noses like a herd of ignorant cattle.

On top of being an immoral, ruthless, hatchetman he cheated on his wife constantly. Typical holier than thou hypocritical republican.
Of course he wasn't a modern republican, a closeted self loathing homosexual..

Such a shame not every American (especially young) will see this movie...It really sums up everything about American politics.
The most incredible documentary I've ever seen.
