Wild felines such as servals have not undergone hundreds of generations of domestication like cats and dogs. If you want to be a responsible pet owner, I would recommend a house cat or a domestic dog =)

On average a serval is less, but you're still looking at a good $2000+ if you're lucky. Another thing to watch out for is the law. Many states in the U.S. have banned non-domesticated cats. Search "States which allow exotic animals", one of the first links gives you a list of states and their laws on exotic animal ownership.

servals can be really destructive and they will eat anything not firmly affixed. Which can be harmful to the cat. So you really need to set up a proper area if you wanna have one. they will chew anything..... walls, doors, furniture, sometimes your hair.

in certain states you can have them... you need to check local a state laws. They are considered exotic or wild animals. They are very high maintenance animals. You get them from a breeder preferably one not living in a house with wheels which is usually what you get for under 2000. expect to pay 2000-4000. sometimes you can get adult servals cheaper as rescue cats. They aren't really full grown until 2 years and a lot of people get more than they counted on.

A savannah cat is part serval and part domestic cat...so a serval would be better as it is all serval:) You need a special permit and they are better than a dog and can be leash trained.
