Nice guide. Missed a few details touh. Many motherboards have a Pci-e x1 over the 16x, use that instead if you can, to prevent the airflow/heat problems with the graphic card. Your Gpu is always happy with more air;)
Dont forget to install the cable to the front panel headphone and mic. It should look like a 10pin header (5x2 (only 9 are used touh, 1 is blocked)).
And no. Form most soundcards, no external power is needed. There are a few touh.
hey,im in need of help.i have an evesham pc,i know nothing about pc's but i want to put a sound card into it.i dont know what sort of sound card i need or which slot it should go in.it has 6 white slots and a smaller black slot at the bottom.theres also a sticker that says 654E max in between the white slots.the pc is probably outdated by now but i just want it to play my aircraft sim game on.
@MoOseeOH Look at your board. Do you have a PCIe slot free(if it is x1 x4 x16 doesn´t matter at all) which is NOT under the SLI Bridge, it works. Also the most Audio cards are way smaller than graphics card so they won´t be high enough to even touch the bridge ;) Like the Asus Xonar DX
HI. MY PC DOESN'T HAVE PCIE X1. I HAVE A GigaByte GA-X58A MOTHERBOARD AND IM TRYING TO INSTALL A X-FI Titanium PCI Express Sound Card. IS IT GOING TO FIT. PLEASE HELP. THANK YOU.
(at) woahjustintime Discrete sound cards normally do not have a separate power cable, the computer motherboard normally powers that item. Consider some discrete video cards require an additional power cable.
(at) MrONe2Watch - Consider that it depends if the on-board audio will meet you specific needs or not. In most cases it is adequate, however, some people do want a discrete sound card.
how to connect front jack's...?

Will this work if the onboard soundcard broke?
gray2332 6 months ago
@gray2332 THis is like a second soundcard. If the onboard is broken this can be used though. SO ofcourse it can :)

Is that it? You don't have to connect a power cable or anything?

use onboard audio. its better and you use less drivers, power, heat.
creative labs dont support their hardware that is just a few years old.and the onboard is already there,so that saves money !
