necro is a rapper...not one worth looking into if you ask me. I just think he has a better taste for instrumentals than most rappers.

He has a good steady flow in his lyrics, its just the words he chooses for his songs just aren't always very good. Not to mention they're vulgar.

Make an experiment: time stretch the part from 1:07, loop it, make it REALLY slow and try to sing "Just The Two Of Us" by Grover Washington along to it - it works! =D I'd even claim this Polnareff track was the inspiration for Washington/Withers' hit song 10 years later, in 1981.

No, it's rather our times which are lagging and stammering and stuck in the past. Almost everything from that era that was successful seems now "way beyond its time". Compare the list of most successful records (or movies for that matter) now and 40 years ago. Actually this tune makes me think of Curtis Mayfield & Isaac Hayes movie scores released in early 1970's (Superfly, Shaft), with an Ennio Morricone vibe in 2nd part.
