Wow! A great lesson. It abounds in the philosophies Woody has discussed in all his films: god, love, death, sanity and craziness, honesty, cruelty, tyranny, humanity. The characters are all individuals, all facets of Woody's immense understanding of the common man. The irony here is that much of the fascism that overtook Europe came because too many good people did nothing. Woody made the film as during the time depicted but its just as significant today.

I like the Murnau style look but the dialogue and humor seemed lame; especially for a Woody Allen film.
