@DoomByLurker thats your problem.youu need a source game to run garrys mod 9.Half life 2,teamfortress 2 portal or counterstike source is needed to play.(you dont have to have all of them)and yes steamapps is the right folder

Garry's mod is a modification for a game called Hal-Life 2. If you own a Source game, it is available on Steam for only 6 pounds! If you would like to buy it bundled with a Source game, it is usually 15 pounds. You do not have to be a pro at all! If you don't want to build, you can always spawn a couple of zombies and shoot the with a rocket launcher, or if you don't like aggressive stuff, you can build!
