its not called a r35 for two reasons

1. NOT A SKYLINE

2. DOES NOT HAVE AN RB26

Correction. It's not called a Skyline because it doesn't have a RB26. It is still called an R35 because its chassis code is CBA-R35. Hell, even the Japanese GT-R website has R35 as part of its URL.

On the other hand, Infiniti G35/G37 are considered Skylines in Japan and they also don't have RB motors so that may not be the actual reason why the GT-R is not a Skyline.

well i uh hate to burst yor bubble but the nissan skyline has been in america!!! the infiniti g35 and g37 are the real nissan skyline this is the nissan gtr th names actually split but thats a common mistake people make calling this gtr a skyline because its not. the g35/g37 is known as the skyline gt350 and skyline gt370 so yeah dude this is NOT a skyline.

well the R34 is my favorite of all time, but its still a continuation of the car so cant say they suck. personally nissans my fav import of all time (except their trucks they suck!) but the GTR to me isnt worth 100grand if anything 55G tops, other wise im gettin a G37 w/twin turbo. still the GTR is a good modified car.

I wouldnt spend 70Gs on the 35. Instead i would import the 34 (even though its illegal) then just keep it as a track car, (I think its okay as long as it doesnt see the streets)

you can technically get the R34 here legally but its gotta be without a motor, i know mesa CA does it if you pay the price and its not too expensive either. id take it that way and drop in an LS6 with twin turbo for the track. or just LS6 and call it a day :-)

Nah, I would never do something like that to an import. Putting in a domestic engine into an import is like getting a slap in the face. There are people that like to do that (I guess you do too) but me, I dont.

well id keep the stock engine if i were allowed, but since thats what makes is so illegal, i figured amoething else. i know a guy with a supra who has an LS1 and it turned out great for him, im not sayin the skylines weak or anything but the LS6 would put down some serious HP. however fro your point of view i know what you mean its like putting a civic engine in place if my srt8 hemi. so i understand that.

Sorry to burst your bubble but the GT-R Spec V hasn't been putting out numbers better than the ZR1. In fact, on the Suzuka circuit in Japan the GT-R Spec V is actually SLOWER than the normal GT-R. And no, the ZR1 is not a tuned up Z06. It is an evolution of the base C6 such as the Z06 is an evolution of the base C6.

Nice review. I'm sure I'll get lots of the 'thumbs downs' for this, but I'd almost rather have a base-model Porsche 911 if only for the howl of that flat-six and the ability to have a normal manual transmission. Yeah, the GT-R murder it in almost every performance category, but it seems like it'd be more involving.

they say its 480 hp but all the engines r hand made so they r all out putting different hp....one i seen was 580 hp...and you don't get to use all of the power that the car has...untill you get to a race track....the gps knows when your at a race track and puts the car into race mode...

All is right, except this car isn't known as the Skyline in Japan. That would be the G35/G37 we have here in the States. The Skyline name and the GTR nameplate have separated, similar to when the Toyota Celica and the Toyota Supra became two different models.
