  • Amiga. System ready to the... Where you have hidden CF? ;)

  • Amiga means - there's nothing more perfect

  • I miss the old wedge shape designs of those old computers. I wish they would come back.

  • @GhostAvenger620 -

i think there was a PC case like this

but now of course the current trend is computer-in-monitor, not computer-in-keyboard

  • Still have my a1200,with a 250mb hdd and external zappo cd-rom drive ...Bought an a500 in 1988 as well, but sold it to buy the a1200.

The best machine i have ever owned.Everything about it,the games, the demoscene and the utilities.

  • y have a question:the amiga work without a hard disc

  • too bad i was grown up with dos.. never touched an amiga but it looks so cool!!

  • omfg this can run crysis on maxium

  • Amiga > Microsoft

  • @cookie123456789012 Grow up.

  • @SpeedoJoe Math wise it means Amigas better than microsoft

  • @cookie123456789012 What math? You sound like you're from 1992.

  • @SpeedoJoe Meaning, Amigas could do all those things far before Microsoft. It had full preemptive multitasking (doesn't depend on apps to play nice) since 1985. The first fully preemptive multitasking version of Windows was Windows 2000.

Anyway, when it comes to which systems prevailed it was never about which ones where better. In the 1980ies, Windows sucked horribly, pretty much everything else was better and yet Windows eventually became the dominant system.

  • @elsaeraser Dude, I know what he meant. Six months ago my point was it's time to put the AMIGA IS THE BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEST MICROSHAFT SUCKS bollocks in the past. Get over it.

I know what the Greater Than symbol means, it's just news that's two decades old.

  • Cool computer. Does not look an 'out of date' platform at all (at least to me...)

  • @IrishCoffeeWC3 hehe yea.

  • Can anyone remember a game for the amiga where the character was a chicken. I t wasn't alfred chicken it was another one but i can't remember what it was called. I've been searching all over and stil havn't found it and i can't rest until i play that game again lol. I hope someone has the answer out there!!

  • @AndDontYouForgetIt Is it possible it was a Kiwi? In "New Zealand Story" you played as a Kiwi that looked suspiciously like a baby chicken.

  • @Trelawney50 Oh you've got it in one!! That's the one i've been trying to think of for ages. Thanks a lot you've just solved the mystery!!!!

  • The sound while booting is AWSOME!

  • I don't understand why Commodore went from a colorful 1.x to a colorfree 2.x OS. That was the wrong direction to go

    .

On my old Amiga 500 I never bothered to load Workbench. Instead the computer would drop direct to a CLI in about 2 seconds, and then I could load whatever program I desired to use (typically JRterm for online)

    .

  • please people i need help i have an 1200 with hard disk and 8 mega ram card, i have kick start 3.0 then i copy games to hardisk like they are becouse most haven't the install utility, but when i try to run it they do not work? why? is the kickstart is my way wrong is the memory is me i don't know what to do anymore. to a lot game from floppy it read like dos disk why?? Please help

  • Got a Amiga 1200 / 030 again recently (had a CD32 with SX1 module for years)

to boot quick install WB on a 4GB Compact Flash card instead of a hard disk

look it up, you need a 2.5" CF2IDE adapter, prep it on the Amiga or winuae

also there is a CF2PCMCIA adapter to transfer files quick from pc to Amiga

    its awesome Amiga4Ever

  • i used to love my 1200 when i was a kid...

  • wow is it the camera or is that screens refresh rate quite low? nice vid

  • that is awsome - fantastic boot - and your straight htere on the main screen to do tasks in no time. Amiga for life!

  • Can somebody help me please? I´ve got an Amiga 1200, and have a problem with video output. When I connect the Amiga via the composite video out jack ( labelled COMP ) to the video-in input of my TV ( it is a NTSC japanese TV but in my country we use PAL system ), the image is sharp and clean, but is all greenish, and does not show the other colors, what could be going on ? something has gone wrong with my Amiga video ? I would be very grateful for someone´s help!

  • Sure it's a fast boot but the Workbench is as vanilla and basic as it can be.. there are absolutely NO necessary enchancements which of course make the boot time a lot longer. Mine boots in about 7 seconds or so, but I have already all kinds of necessities installed. I could make a video of my boot some day of course..

But it's still amazing how fast the Amiga can boot when it wants to .. (-8

  • @Lutanamo

I don't even run magicWB or anything. I installed MUI but only the parts program needs to run... the tcp/ip software from the aos 3.9 cd, a few random libs to get wookie chat to run, and bugger all else. there are no "necessary" enhancements beyond those, software wise. The processor badly needs bumping up if you want a useful computer though.

  • Hay, a swedish amiga! Are you swedish?

    Hej...

  • had a 1200 years ago with a bunch of floppies, some Carmen Sandegio and others. quit working bummer.

  • is a great hardware

  • NICE machine!! Ive been on the lookout for an A1200 for a quite a while.

  • EEEEEEBAAAAYYYY : P

Or If you are going to start trading go to amibay ;)

  • Beautyfull!

    It's better than my machine!

  • when you push 0n on the power suply and green led became alive

i was shooted right in the brain with strong impact of what dopamine?

    i feeled like so.

good things are limited on this world

such a good computer killled by bad marketing...

My dream car is lotus esprit with huge Amiga label on the side and amiga installed inside with protracker on hhehehe.

  • lol, this is the fastest boot-up I've ever seen.

  • Hmm...

when I used to turn my Amiga on, it would play an 8 note melody before the Kickstart screen would come up.

Anyone have that in a video? I can't find it!

  • I had a 500 and could only dream of owning a 1200 back in those days! It was the daddy of Amigas and very expensive

  • @unlockthepower It was £300 back in the day, I bought my A600 from rumbelows and the silly cow told me the A1200 was for professionals who needed a large amount of colours etc, so i went for the A600 which was a great machine but regretted not getting the 1200 after.

  • dream machine!

  • Very fast boot-time

  • I am using a Transcend flash memory stick, 2 gigabyte, costs 28 euro, my Amiga 1200 boots in 2 or 3 seconds. Works very good and another benefit is no noise.

  • Amazing isn't it? The Amiga 1200 computer used a standard laptop IDE hard drive. I remember purchasing a standard 400meg Laptop HDD and installing it in my A1200 and it worked perfectly. Later you could use a PCMCIA expansion card (yes the A1200 had a PCMCIA expansion port like a laptop) to attach ATAPI IDE CD-ROM drives to play all the CD-Rom titles being released for the Amiga back then.

  • Wow - brings back memories. Anyone used to have problems with the eject on the disk drive? I had to send mine a way at the time I think.

Amiga 1200... I recall Amiga 600 owners being jealous at the time. Xmas '92. Time flies.

  • The workbench i had used an overlay line command structured for booting, it was built on tandy basic(modified so it could handle, it used ram accelerators, and command sequence locks, most of the data was stored in bins which were attached files within folders, personally i think drop downs and right click menu on open work bench were some of it's best features, the principle wrote programs for Mr. Gates as well as Atari before becoming programming director at Amiga

  • is it just me or is the 1200 the coolest looking computer? eye candy of its own.

  • Sexy looking indeed!

  • thats your opinion...mine 2 anyways^^ love that baby

  • Well,

It's shutdown is more interesting than boot-up!

Some times it takes minutes to shut down Win*o*s XP and worst Vis*a!

  • Makes you sick doesn't it, if Microsoft hadn't got its way we'd all be booting in 5 seconds.

  • you speak the truth!

  • Exactly! Well, with modern times - maybe not in FIVE seconds, but at least in 11 seconds or so. At least a hella lot faster than any windows boots. Well, maybe in the New Civilization after this one.. (-8

  • my amiga is still safe in box so when i get old i can play with it again. all my programs and stuff all as i left it. cant wait to play monkey island in 40 years!

  • Well Jobs is also in the business and his machines don't boot that fast either.

  • @mynamesforest

It just doesn't work like that. Soon enough the amiga would have to emmigrate to other hardware anyway. it's just a microcontroller...

  • Feel the love! hehe

  • Yeah, how is it possible to boot up so fast?

  • Well, that Workbench seems very basic - probably not many lines in the startup-sequence or user-startup - not lots of programs running in WBStartup. A fresh WB-install to a turbo'ed Amiga 1200 with relatively fast harddrive - yes, it can really boot amazingly fast. But after you add some stuff to make it more pretty and more usable, the boot slows down to at least 11 seconds or so.. :)

  • Amiga ownz. period. fuck linux and mac.

  • Hahahah, booted into Workbench in 5 seconds. Ownage !

  • @Perplexer1

    More like 8 seconds but were just spitting clock cycle hairs..........( ;

And even from a floppy it will load <1 minute....haha

  • Uhm, rather uninteresting, if atleast you had all the features which is in that .. uhm.. amikit? (stuff for uae), newicons, magicwb, some turbo card, ripped directly from the screen instead of filming it, and so on =P

Ohwell, atleast it's an amiga ;D

  • hey man, what workbench is that? 1.3?

  • It's workbench 3.1

  • oh my bad, I actually meant 3.1 but typed in wrong (late night and all, I swear I wasn't drinking). :) Yeah, 1.3 has a different color scheme, dark blue and orange right. Anyways, hope to see more of your amiga videos, keep amiga alive yeah!

  • @mouthmw On an Amiga 1200 is probably nearer Workbench 3.0

  • nice computer, AMIGA you was my best friend (mi mejor amiga)

  • 'Still is' your best friend.. :-D

  • Thats just me masturbating!

  • @ovsing hahaahha Work bench is so hottt

  • what´s that gay noise?
