I put a short comment a while ago that has stirred some rabid nationalistic sentiments, as if our region has not been hurt enough by sectarian politics. Cultures all around the world cross-fertilize each other. This goes both ways. And there is nothing wrong with that. And there is nothing wrong with Iranians taking a little pride in seeing Azeris singing Hafez. You can take pride in knowing that some people in Iran love Rashid Behbudov and someone you never met enjoys Koroghlu. Peace!

yashsin bizim Koroglu, bizim Azerbaijan va bizim Iran. I had the full set of the cassettes of this opera back in 1997, before revolution. Left Iran then, however, I believe I still have them back home. And this brought back all the memories of home, my youth and my family. Hope I could go back once more to Azerbaijan and Iran. Miss a lot.

It's really appreciated. It's too sad that seeing an Azeri performing something in Farsi is so uncomfortable for some people here. Come on guys, there is a nice element of an opera being in a language other than the mother language, like Latin instead of English.

Well when Turkey claims that Rumi and Hafez were turks they shouldn't have any shame in singing their poems in the original language which is Farsi! if people knew more they would realize that even the dance in this performance is mainly Irani Ghajar dance! today's turkish dance is a mixture of traditional turkish belly dancing and elements of Persian ghajar dance especially the upper body and hands movements. We better stick to our similarities rather than differences!

As I said beforem Great Uzeyir made a great operas, Arias, and melodies for us. We should appreciate whay he has done. He was one of the intelligent Azerbaijanis who established independet Azerbaijan 1918-1920.
I understand the feeling of some of our friends who are not so happy whith this peice od music. I respect everyone's opinion and thougths. So, let's learn how to creat great music, try to be independent, and establish peace for our geographical area( middle east).Bye.

Peace for our area comes through becoming united not through independence from one another. did you know as an Iranian Azeri we share way more cultural elements and even genetics with Persians than turks? and still why should it matter?! I always prefer to be part of a bigger more diverse thing than reducing myself to my very own small neighborhood! I wish all countries of the area were still the same one vast united country!

When Great Uzeyir Hacibekon wrote "Koroglu operasin", he was so aware of persian and what they have done to us.
Great Uzeyir knew that our "ULU BABALAR" were so intersted in Farsi singers and dancers( WHY? I can't say). So, he put just on small part in Koroglu.
