  • 8:55-9:25 - This is what happens when you show Nick Jr. to Goldilocks...

  • classic television is so old and gray! and i miss some of it, but i barely know half of these shows!

  • does anyone know what show that is at 0:51 in to this video ??

  • @CaptainJellico1701d The Adventures of the Little Prince.

  • Who did v/o work for Patty Duke, Mr. Wizard, Special Delivery, and Mister Ed?

  • Sooo, Inspector Gadget and Heathcliff were both pre-Nicktoons?

  • wow back before faggots controlled Nickelodeon!

  • I remember Eureka's Castle, I haven't thought about that show in a long time.

  • Lyrics for promo at 0:35 Nick Jr is a Noozle, Nick Jr is a gnome, Nick Jr is a dragon who calls a castle home! With silly songs to sing along, And daffy dances too, There's cats, and hats, and clumsy bats, An elephant at the zoo! So now you know where you can go and bring a friend or two, The place where you get what you want, Nick Jr's just for you! Nick Jr's just for you! Nick Jr's just for you!
  • With all the money Viacom makes, they should add a Classic Nick at Nite channel with B&W shows they used to have like The Patty Duke Show, Dennis the Menace, Donna Reed show, etc.

  • @scottbaino They did. It was called TVland. However it has since been ruined

What they do is they create great niche channels that gains public interest, which inturn creates demand, which then gets cable companies to add them. Once they penetrate a large enough size in the public, the company then changes the format to a more general programming so anyone will watch it

People don't demand channels that air the same stuff other channels already do, but they will watch it when channel surfing

  • @adamv2 your right they do have a cable station called RTV (Retro TV)

  • That's the Nickelodeon/ Nick at Nite I remember!!! Very nostalgic.

  • That would be a GREAT Nick at Nite idea! Since there are several channels that air semi-classics like TBS, certain secondary networks like "My" and the "WB" and even a few others, reliving classic. To me 1986-1993 was Nick's best era of programming. Some of the '70s/'80s semi-classics at the time aired in syndication on other channels; if you can find some old TV guides from that era you'll se.

  • OMG I miss the old nickelodeon, they shoudl create a Nick 90's and nick 80's channel. and air all the old shows commericals and bumpers on it.

  • @Eric9233 Actually nick's own library is full enough, that nick at nite could just air old nick shows, instead of paying for rights for old sitcoms. It would have a great crossover audience as regular nick viewers might stick around watching, instead of turning off the TV right away. Disney used to do something like this, except they aired really old programs and movies.

Also, a few years ago talk was turning Nick Gas into retro nick, but instead they changed it to the N/Teennick

  • @Eric9233 that would be great if we get enough people to petetion it it could be a reality.

  • Any way to get some mo9re of these promofeeds?

I downloaded the source from the website, but it seems to be the only one on the internet.

  • Bring back Heathcliff!!

  • i miss those toy run events they use to have, some lucky kid got like 60 seconds to get all the toys they wanted and get back to the line (or register) I forgot what its called now but it was good :(

  • *Was* is the key word. I used to get excited too, but now I realise how pointless it all was.

You know all that shit is in some landfill now...

  • It was called Nicks Super toy run! It happend in Toys R Us!

  • @puccaperson I completely forgot about that! I wanted to be in that more than anything in the world. I'm 22, and to this day if I could do the toy run in a Toys 'R US I would jump on the opportunity.

  • what was the show at 0:51 I remember it but forgot the title :(

You can't do that on tv was awesome live show vs the crap thats on now :(

  • That show was 'The Adventures of the Little Prince'. And you're right. There's an unacceptable glut of crap on TV nowadays. I was born in 1983 and look back fondly on late '80s and early '90s Nick - my heart melts just a little every time. IMHO Nick was at a peak right about here in 1990.

  • Yep, I I remember The Little Prince. Based on the French book.

I was born in '80. I remember during the summer of 1990, staying up late (well, until 11:00 or so) watching Green Acres, Dobie Gillis, Mr. Ed and The Munsters.

  • i loved special delivery, but none of my friends and family remember it.

  • I wish born in 1986 so i was only 4 when this happened. I can't remebre anything way back then.

  • Noone will show the older NickJr. shows like Eureeka's Castle.

  • i was born in 1980 it is awesome 2 see how many people in my age group still remmeber classic nick it has pretty much 100 percent went 2 the dark side but us speople born in late 70s early 80s will always have memories thanks 2 you tube

  • Youtube's great. I was able to find what Kotic the seal was from and then find the video on Youtube. I also found the episode where Gadget goes gaga for a Brontosaurus babe. That wasn't even true at all! It wasn't even a girl! Silly lying Nickelodeon!

  • Eureeka's Castle... damn. Nostalgia can be a bitch. I haven't even thought about that show since I was 10.

  • why don't they show color tv shows on nickelodeon in the 90s

  • They did, outside 2 or 3 shows. Nick at nite however was 90% black & white back then as it targeted the parents with shows they grew up with.

  • o.-

  • 0:44

I thought that guy was Tom Green lol.

  • *Sigh* I miss the good Nickelodeon shows like these

  • WoW! This is when i was in my nick hay day!!!! im 29, and when this was on all we did was watch tv!!! i mean every show, lol from eureka's castle to my three sons! lassie, dennis the menace the hero of all kidssss!!! donna reed, and the PATTY DUKE song!! me and my brother would sing it together!......i think that's why i like the older tv shows to this day..... didn't see flipper :-) i think it came on nick too.

  • I'm also 29. I watched Nick all day and all night. I miss old Nick because they would put on lassie and I watched it like it just came out. I also watched other odd ball crap like the tomorrow people and you can't do that on television.

  • thanks for this. awesome memories. :D

  • The best cable channel ever! And, it doesn't even really exist anymore!

I mean, if Nick at Nite is gonna go so far as to change all that it stood for, why doesn't it just change it's name too, huh!

  • I remembered that nick used to toy store sweep (ala supermarket sweep) minus the you have to pay

  • If the film Demolition Man were a reality, then everyone would be singing these promos and not stupid 'Valley of the Jolly Green Giant'.

  • This is a cool block of promos! Mr. Wizard's World was an awesome show, Don Herbert was a great guy who taught us a lot more than anything Nick could today. They could consider putting his show back on the air as a tribute.

  • now they got DUMB show on Nick It not even call Nick or nick night

  • nick is polluted with teen drama now. it also seems like everybody on nick wants to be a rock star too. same with disney.

  • It's disgusting.

all these kids want to grow up so fast.

kids don't even know what being a kid is anymore.

  • We got Nick at Night back here in Nick Philippines, airing mostly old shows from the 90's. But yeah, the programming used to be mixed back in the day.

  • OMG i was 7 in 1990 and i remember all this like it was yesturday. 1987- 1997 was Nickeloden's prime!!! back then nick was for KIDS i mean all KIDS not tweens and it had real shows, game shows, cartoons, and just everything awesome!!!!!!!

  • the guy singing on my three sons sounds like Tom Servo (Kevin Murphy) from MST3K

  • lol, it does. It sounds like the kind of song they would make up for the show as well.

  • Shocking to know how much has changed in just 19 years. I'm only in my mid 20s but this just brings a tear to my eye knowing that Nicklodeon will never be this way again.

Wish classic television was still around.

  • I loved YCDTOT and Mr. Wizard but I really loved Nick-At-Nite back then when they were almost all black and white which is what real CLASSIC television is. I am 37 but loved watching these old shows every night on N@N. What a shame there is not a channel on now that shows any of them any more. You would think we could have a single channel out of the over 200 on my cable service that could do that. I watched the entire feed on your link and loved it. Thanks so much for sharing.

  • Remember Garfield? lol

  • Anyway yeah this DEFINETELY brings back the old memories..

This feed is about 2 years too old to include a few of the VERY best show, though..

    These include:

    'Clarissa Explains it All'

    'Hey Dude'

'The Adventures of Pete and Pete'

    'Salute Your Shorts'

    ..and all the original Nicktoons.

    Awesome though.

  • Not necessarily - the full 30-minute version linked from the video notes has two "Hey Dude" promos.

  • Harry Potter at :35. haha

  • Is it just me or did the Patty Duke guy sound alot like Space Ghost

  • 1:57 Is that Riff Raff?

  • taking a TRIP down memory lane made me realize that i was 21 and that made reality hit me with a BANG!

  • i miss those years

  • On "Special Delivery" They would show the edited TV movie version of the "Heidi" anime! And I'm LOL at the slo mo "Eureeka's castle!

  • GOD BLESS MR WIZARD!!! His reruns were still on at like 5am on nickelodeon up til 1995-ish. That's the last I saw it. Great show....still

And I remember the original Nick At Nite....When it use to be good like everything else

  • Nickelodeon is not as good as it used to be....but it's not completely horrible....now Disney THAT went down!!!

  • Slutty 101 comes to mind

  • Was that Wheels from Degrassi in the Special Delivery promo?

  • These promo feeds drove me crazy as a kid! But thanks for posting!

  • The very first segment looks rather Tim Burtonesque (in the Pee-Wee's Big Adventure era). And could they market Patty Duke or what?

  • that part from 0:51 to 0:53 looks so familiar, i just wish i could remember which cartoon it was from.

  • hey sly, i think that is The Little Prince

  • Not only does Nickelodeon suck now, but nick at night also sucks.

  • i knw why cant they have a nick 90s or even a nick 80s

  • You ain't just whistling Dixie, Nick at Nite's latest show? Scrubs. It's not even canceled yet but they are showing it. Sell outs, same with TV Land.

  • Wow nick at nite is HOOOOOORRRRRRIIIIIBBBBBLLLLEEEE NOW!!!

  • I miss You Can't Do That On Television. I got acouple episodes of the origional cast I recorded on tape. I remember every commercial played on this video. Still looking for shows from Nick (Jr) like Pinwheel & Today's Special. Oh yeah, & shows like Nickelodeon's Kids Court, Out Of Control & Finders Keepers. Yal gotta remember them if yal remember Double Dare. Ol' Skool Nick Kicks Ass!!!

  • Do you have any ads from the mysterious cities of gold?

  • This is back when Nickelodeon was COOL! I mean, these shows back in the 80s, while I was just a hyperactive young man, were awesome! Nothing like the shit that is manufactured nowadays. (Well, except for Spongebob)

  • I can't believe Nick's orange logo is 25 years old, it still looks pretty fresh. Shame Nick isn't the same channel it used to be.

  • holy shit mr.ed , that was my shit

  • What show is that at :54?

  • Fred Penner's Place

  • Kids 24 hrs a day?

  • Haha, good times! =)

  • Looks great. To bad Nick-At-Nite sucks wind now like every other channel. I won't bother naming them because I can think of over a dozen channels that were great but now are useless. The only thing I watch on TV now is sports. Thanks for taking me back to when TV was good.

  • that Joseph kid lived nere me!

  • Holy crap 1990 when i was like 5 years old! I LOVED NICK IN THE 1980S-1999 and now it sucks! BIG TIME I SUCKS!

  • WOW! I loved Nick Jr back then David the Gnome, The Elephant Show, The Noozles, Eureka's Castle, Flipper, Dennis the Menance Lassie, it was all good, lol! That's so cool Joseph got to be on "You Can't Do That on Television!"

  • What was the very beginning for? ( the color bars, and some nickelodeon promo feed )

  • The color bars is what is known as a test pattern. It is what you see when the transmitter is active but no program is being sent. A good comparison would be a dvd player when its on, but doesn't have a DVD in the player. Nick was off the air before this promo started.

The promo feed is just info for the cable companies. It tells them for which time period the promos should be used for. Mentions previous promo feeds are outdated, and lets them know when they will be airing their next promo feed

  • Thanks for posting this (1989-1990)

Nick at Nite promo! I use to have all of these

on VHS, but sadly I was forced to throw it in the garbage with several other videotapes.

    It was great see again!

  • 0:52 looked so familiar but i just can't remember what show it's from.

  • These videos make me feel like I just entered a Time Machine.

  • This is a neat gem you found here :) Thanks for uploading it :) I sure do miss old Nickelodeon.

  • Nickelodeon was at its peak in variety at this time. It was right before nicktoons, or any of what would later be called teenick. As a result, nothing was aired more then twice a day. Compared to now, where just about everything is inhouse, and they can air a show as many times as they want, which as a result equals a nick that airs shows like spongebob about 8 times a day.

  • As for nick at nite, I agree. The classic programs were suppose to go over to tvland, when that network started, but now they're turning to crap too. Also, can't they have more then 3 shows? Better yet, why pay for syndication rights? Nick has been on long enough now that they can just air classic nick shows during the overnight. I would much rather see shows like salute your shorts, then home improvement, and i'm sure it would have plenty of todays Nickelodeon viewers watching too.

  • its everywhere on tv though...the corporations have derived tv stations like nick and MTV..which doesnt even show music, thats like the nba channel just showing bowling or something ..PBS also is sooo different i remember good shows like square one tv and 321 contact..where in the world is carmen sandiego..etc..to me the only channel thats still holds up independently is adult swim ..(much thanks to seth green)and reminds me a lot of early nickelodeon

  • Nick at Nite USED to be a great network, but now they show crappy recent programs. I mean, that's OK to do, but still show some of the classics that made Nick At Nite the amazing channel it was.

I swear cable networks all suck anymore.

  • @BruTube: Can't say I blame ya, TBH. I remember Nick going back to the mid '90s, Rugrats in particular(but shows like Doug and Hey Arnold! too.)

  • Only 3 shows on a regular basis, Home Improvement, George Lopez and Fresh Prince.

  • man the donna reed show promo made me almost gag a bit

  • Television perfection... I grew up with this, and was addicted to Nick/Nick at Nite when I was 13 and 14, back in 1990/91. :-) What a great time to be a kid.

  • Me too! My parents worked nights and I stayed up watching TV and got hooked on all those great old shows. Too bad Nick/Nick at Nite shows total crap now. They were better back in the day.

What a great video...brought back loads of memories!

  • nick sucks now because its not really nick now...like everything else nick sold out and is now a corporation called viacom thats why it sucks

  • Could you imagine nickelodeon showing B&W programing today? Hell, even nick at nite doesn't touch those types of shows anymore.

  • tv land still shows leave it to beaver, addams family, and the munsters in black & white....but look at the time span when they were showing B&W shows on nick and not a channel specifically made for old shows i mean thats almost 60 years ago (lassie, dennis the menace, mr.ed, etc...)
