Lyrics for promo at 0:35 Nick Jr is a Noozle, Nick Jr is a gnome, Nick Jr is a dragon who calls a castle home! With silly songs to sing along, And daffy dances too, There's cats, and hats, and clumsy bats, An elephant at the zoo! So now you know where you can go and bring a friend or two, The place where you get what you want, Nick Jr's just for you! Nick Jr's just for you! Nick Jr's just for you!
With all the money Viacom makes, they should add a Classic Nick at Nite channel with B&W shows they used to have like The Patty Duke Show, Dennis the Menace, Donna Reed show, etc.
@scottbaino They did. It was called TVland. However it has since been ruined
What they do is they create great niche channels that gains public interest, which inturn creates demand, which then gets cable companies to add them. Once they penetrate a large enough size in the public, the company then changes the format to a more general programming so anyone will watch it
People don't demand channels that air the same stuff other channels already do, but they will watch it when channel surfing
That would be a GREAT Nick at Nite idea! Since there are several channels that air semi-classics like TBS, certain secondary networks like "My" and the "WB" and even a few others, reliving classic. To me 1986-1993 was Nick's best era of programming. Some of the '70s/'80s semi-classics at the time aired in syndication on other channels; if you can find some old TV guides from that era you'll se.
@Eric9233 Actually nick's own library is full enough, that nick at nite could just air old nick shows, instead of paying for rights for old sitcoms. It would have a great crossover audience as regular nick viewers might stick around watching, instead of turning off the TV right away. Disney used to do something like this, except they aired really old programs and movies.
Also, a few years ago talk was turning Nick Gas into retro nick, but instead they changed it to the N/Teennick
i miss those toy run events they use to have, some lucky kid got like 60 seconds to get all the toys they wanted and get back to the line (or register) I forgot what its called now but it was good :(
@puccaperson I completely forgot about that! I wanted to be in that more than anything in the world. I'm 22, and to this day if I could do the toy run in a Toys 'R US I would jump on the opportunity.
That show was 'The Adventures of the Little Prince'. And you're right. There's an unacceptable glut of crap on TV nowadays. I was born in 1983 and look back fondly on late '80s and early '90s Nick - my heart melts just a little every time. IMHO Nick was at a peak right about here in 1990.
Yep, I I remember The Little Prince. Based on the French book.
I was born in '80. I remember during the summer of 1990, staying up late (well, until 11:00 or so) watching Green Acres, Dobie Gillis, Mr. Ed and The Munsters.
i was born in 1980 it is awesome 2 see how many people in my age group still remmeber classic nick it has pretty much 100 percent went 2 the dark side but us speople born in late 70s early 80s will always have memories thanks 2 you tube
Youtube's great. I was able to find what Kotic the seal was from and then find the video on Youtube. I also found the episode where Gadget goes gaga for a Brontosaurus babe. That wasn't even true at all! It wasn't even a girl! Silly lying Nickelodeon!
WoW! This is when i was in my nick hay day!!!! im 29, and when this was on all we did was watch tv!!! i mean every show, lol from eureka's castle to my three sons! lassie, dennis the menace the hero of all kidssss!!! donna reed, and the PATTY DUKE song!! me and my brother would sing it together!......i think that's why i like the older tv shows to this day..... didn't see flipper :-) i think it came on nick too.
I'm also 29. I watched Nick all day and all night. I miss old Nick because they would put on lassie and I watched it like it just came out. I also watched other odd ball crap like the tomorrow people and you can't do that on television.
This is a cool block of promos! Mr. Wizard's World was an awesome show, Don Herbert was a great guy who taught us a lot more than anything Nick could today. They could consider putting his show back on the air as a tribute.
We got Nick at Night back here in Nick Philippines, airing mostly old shows from the 90's. But yeah, the programming used to be mixed back in the day.
OMG i was 7 in 1990 and i remember all this like it was yesturday. 1987- 1997 was Nickeloden's prime!!! back then nick was for KIDS i mean all KIDS not tweens and it had real shows, game shows, cartoons, and just everything awesome!!!!!!!
Shocking to know how much has changed in just 19 years. I'm only in my mid 20s but this just brings a tear to my eye knowing that Nicklodeon will never be this way again.
I loved YCDTOT and Mr. Wizard but I really loved Nick-At-Nite back then when they were almost all black and white which is what real CLASSIC television is. I am 37 but loved watching these old shows every night on N@N. What a shame there is not a channel on now that shows any of them any more. You would think we could have a single channel out of the over 200 on my cable service that could do that. I watched the entire feed on your link and loved it. Thanks so much for sharing.
I miss You Can't Do That On Television. I got acouple episodes of the origional cast I recorded on tape. I remember every commercial played on this video. Still looking for shows from Nick (Jr) like Pinwheel & Today's Special. Oh yeah, & shows like Nickelodeon's Kids Court, Out Of Control & Finders Keepers. Yal gotta remember them if yal remember Double Dare. Ol' Skool Nick Kicks Ass!!!
This is back when Nickelodeon was COOL! I mean, these shows back in the 80s, while I was just a hyperactive young man, were awesome! Nothing like the shit that is manufactured nowadays. (Well, except for Spongebob)
Looks great. To bad Nick-At-Nite sucks wind now like every other channel. I won't bother naming them because I can think of over a dozen channels that were great but now are useless. The only thing I watch on TV now is sports. Thanks for taking me back to when TV was good.
WOW! I loved Nick Jr back then David the Gnome, The Elephant Show, The Noozles, Eureka's Castle, Flipper, Dennis the Menance Lassie, it was all good, lol! That's so cool Joseph got to be on "You Can't Do That on Television!"
The color bars is what is known as a test pattern. It is what you see when the transmitter is active but no program is being sent. A good comparison would be a dvd player when its on, but doesn't have a DVD in the player. Nick was off the air before this promo started.
The promo feed is just info for the cable companies. It tells them for which time period the promos should be used for. Mentions previous promo feeds are outdated, and lets them know when they will be airing their next promo feed
Nickelodeon was at its peak in variety at this time. It was right before nicktoons, or any of what would later be called teenick. As a result, nothing was aired more then twice a day. Compared to now, where just about everything is inhouse, and they can air a show as many times as they want, which as a result equals a nick that airs shows like spongebob about 8 times a day.
As for nick at nite, I agree. The classic programs were suppose to go over to tvland, when that network started, but now they're turning to crap too. Also, can't they have more then 3 shows? Better yet, why pay for syndication rights? Nick has been on long enough now that they can just air classic nick shows during the overnight. I would much rather see shows like salute your shorts, then home improvement, and i'm sure it would have plenty of todays Nickelodeon viewers watching too.
its everywhere on tv though...the corporations have derived tv stations like nick and MTV..which doesnt even show music, thats like the nba channel just showing bowling or something ..PBS also is sooo different i remember good shows like square one tv and 321 contact..where in the world is carmen sandiego..etc..to me the only channel thats still holds up independently is adult swim ..(much thanks to seth green)and reminds me a lot of early nickelodeon
Nick at Nite USED to be a great network, but now they show crappy recent programs. I mean, that's OK to do, but still show some of the classics that made Nick At Nite the amazing channel it was.
