Personally I can't understand why people would want to learn like this. 70% of DJing is learning to put your own touches on things, learning in a group like this just seems to take all that away.
@Adz1184 hey man, well i f@cking tottaly agree with you...and i get really angree when after lessons like that or because daddy bought someone a pair of decks and a mixer everyone is calling himself a dj now....NO there is a lot more so ou can call yourself a dj...i'm embarrased to say that i'm a dj nowdays....it is not something personal...i love ellaskins and his internet lessons....but i thing that this thingis a bit overrated....
@Adz1184 To be fair these guys are just learning the basics :p Nothing wrong with learning them from people who knows how to do stuff. Creativity comes afterwards. :)
Anyone else notice that he's cueing up a record that isn't playing on the mixer?
At around 0:20, he's pressing the cue buttons on the mixer (in a seemingly random fashion), but the LEDs aren't showing any activity, which means there's no sound playing through the channel he's cueing . He's also messing with the EQ even though there's no sound.
Oh and the track at 04:00 is Dash Berlin - Man on the run (Original Vocal Mix)
@YTUBEOSHI3NYC33 fuck noooo this guy is no where good enough to place his hands on them and obviously nor are u if u dont know what the 2000 are u shouldnt be a dj
someone should be helping these guys out in the meantime cuz some of them clearly have no idea what they are doing... i donno about the rest of you guys but in my experience its rather hard to beatmatch without ever touching the pitch :P
hey i got abit of a question about connecting a mixer to my macbook just got traktor and ive got no idea how i can connect a mixer to my macbook :D which cables etc?
top djs play other djs tracks but what makes them different is the mixin style, u can convert a really lame track in an awesome one by mixin it with another, skills and creativity but yeah if you want to become famous make your own beats and maybe.
na ja, are this beginners? real bloody lousy beginners. guess they have alot alot alot to practice and hopefully enjoy. where are all the talented guys?
it seems expensive, nobody showing them what to do, just letting them get on with it?? at one point, the guy was bringing in a track with all the Eqs past 12 o'clock :S
Yea... I noticed the eq mess too... i dont know if he was doing this on purpose, so i might be wrong to call it a mess.. clarity would be nice here J! The gear they are using seems expensive and live dj tutoring would im sure be quite expensive, sort of an apprenticeship
Wow im very glad i didnt go here, i was about to go 4 months ago, but i met a friend at Uni who uses turn tables and in 3 weeks ive become really good!
i mean schools of DJ's goes against what I think it's about. It's about getting your first pair of shitty belt driver turntables but getting so excited buying all the vinyl. It's about crate digging and discovering rare beats. Not about paying to play in an empty club...
@watson2078 i agree, those days are over though unfortunately, it's so easy to just listen to mp3 previews on websites than flicking through vinyl and playing them on decks in a record store
all the gear no idea ha ha. they will get there one day , i have been doing it over 12 years and still learning new stuff everyday. started off as a hobby and now getting paid. love it

well if your mixer as a midi output you just need to get an external soundcard so u can use your mixer as a midi controller :)
djog10 2 years ago
would i need to map my cdj's/mixer for traktor?
mickle95 2 years ago
not when you usw timecodes ;) mapping is only needed for midi control

Start producing your own trax or you'll never have a real chance.
Not many gives a rat ass anyway if you spin live or mixtapes (pre programmed sets)
Good try though, but i rather keep my money, buy used or cheaper gear and lots of music.
and work my way up.
Sure you can let a bunch or rich kids go at it in a club, but the real guys no matter what gear or media, well they earn it the old fashion way
So start climbing that ladder and produce music as well.
Cheers

yes but that in a way is just as good. I'm talking about the commercialization of Djing. It shouldn't be taught like guitar or drums!!!
