  • your technique is great...thaks for his video, I'll surely have a try!

  • Could you please teach us to increases, I don't know how to increase and this is the way I knit. Thank you.

  • How do I continental knit the 2nd row??? Is it exactly the same as the first because I am just starting to knit and I hve only done the first row. If you can post up a video doing the 2nd row that would be fantastic :)))))))

  • check out my purl variation for the next row if you want stocking stitch (the sample shown here is stocking stitch) - or try another purl technique

    cheers

sorry about the delay in replying.

  • @keepbleedingluv101

check out the video on here for continental knitting by craftsanity. they show you how to purl the next row

  • This is exactly how I knit, but I havent learned to purl continental yet and I have no idea how to quickly go back and forth between knitting and purling,

  • wow that great ...that my frist time ..havent see that b4 ... great KNIT... :)

  • I've been trying to become as comfortable with Continental as I've been all these years with English knitting. This is the first method I've seen that MAKES SENSE to my English-knitting fingers. Thanks!!

  • i just found out about 'speed knitting', but couldn't quite catch the grip from Miriam Tegels. This video helped SO much! i'll be knitting faster from now on! Thank you!

  • l♥ve the yearn i wish i knew how to cast on continental style. :(

  • Whoa, i'm trying to learn haw to knit and this video inspired Me SOooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

    Much.

  • This is the exact way I knit, too! I had to retrain myself after learning the English "throwing" method, which was so slow for me. Now I zip along, and purl and ribs are extra fast, too.

  • beautiful yarn!

A question though. How do you "scoot" the fabric up on the left needle without stopping? I knit continental too but I have to stop and scoot, and it's slowing me down quite a bit..

  • The secret is her left hand is holding her knitting *not* her needle. When the stitches get too far from her left needle tip she lifts her right index finger to accept the new stitch as normal *but* before putting her right finger back on her new stitches she taps the tip of her left needle sliding it down through her old stitches and fabric.

With that in mind rewatch the video. Thankfully stell66 knits slowly enough in the teaching video so we can catch it. :-)

  • Yes, I do hold on to the fabric, and not the needle. I tap on the left needle every now and then, but I find my fabric hard to move.. I think it's just hand coordination though ;) I'm a loose knitter. In fact, I have a small hard skin patch on my right index finger from knitting too much hehe.

  • Exactly the way I've been knitting for 30 years. It works better than the other versions of cont knit shown on Utube.

  • This is exactly how I was taught to knit in Girl Scouts in 1959. I rarely see anyone knit like me, so it was great to see this video!

  • This is fabulous. So much faster. I wish I learned this way first.

  • me too...why don't they teach people this???

  • me three I'm gonna try this!

  • How I do it too, But I had to work really hard not to go back to my typically way, throwing, until this felt comfortable. So much faster and so much more comfortable this way than I ever was throwing..

  • Same for the purl video - Thanks so much :-)

  • YESSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!! I've tried for so long to knit Continental, as it always looked so much quicker, but I could never get the hang of it. Your way is EXCELLENT and the slow video shows it so well!! Thanks so much :-)

  • so quick i've been knitting for 41 years the traditional way and have to learn this

  • this is the first time I can actually get what is happening and pick it up really niiiiiiiiiicccccceee!!!

  • I knit the other way, and I have been wanting to learn it this way. This is clear enough, I think I will be able to copy it. Thanks.

  • Yah! This is how I do it too! :)

  • i am going to try this right now. i'm so glad there are a bunch of videos showing small variations like this. thanks for sharing yours! it looks much easier.

  • omg that looks sooooo much faster....the one problem i have with knitting is that i feel it take for ever!!!! like it cheers

  • God that is so cool

  • nnnnnnnnnniiiiiiiiiiiicccccccccccccceeeeeeee

  • wow, ur pretty fast
