ahmad is, and has always been, the very best--he is inventive, shows great spirit and imagination and makes a lot of music when he plays--always in motion with emotion, feeling and great flow.
Lovely to see them here on Utube! Thank you. Last week James Cammack did a jam-session with me and some friends of mine in Bern (switzerland). He's an awesome bass player!
Well, I'm a student at the Swiss Jazz School. Ahmad Jamal, James and Idris gave a concert while the jazzfestival here in Bern. After the gig, I talked to them and James spontaneously followed me to a Jam-Session. That was last Tuesday. He did some great solos over Giant Steps, Footprints, Spain, Swingin' At The Haven and other well known tunes. It was a special experience for as all. And he also had his fun I guess... :-) I'm still in touch with him: He loves YouTube too!
yea, James Cammack is a very down to earth guy. i had a chat with him in between sets when they played st. louis in '97. he said Jamal discovered him when he was playing in some military band. and he was talking about how it's challenging to play with Jamal because it's always something new with him.
I saw them in Istanbul Jazz Festival, that was amazing. However Idris had a serious health problem and i just hope that he is fine. That club where they are playing ''Bimhuis'' is one of the best i 've ever seen. The whole background of the stage is glass and you can see the city. Of course sound is perfect too. You guys check out my Blue Note Artist from Turkey '' ayse tutuncu'' and i will appreciate if you can write your ideas about her too.
Muhammad, Carmack, and Jamal it doesn't get any better.

@gtrman335 Nope not kidding and look at his right hand tumb. It is sometimes on top of the strings. Don't get me wrong i really like him!
He is great, he is swinging. I think he probably never had lessons and learned it himself?

He did a jam session with you? How did you arrange that? Are you a professional musician or what?

A bit too tiney. I think it may be the quality of the vid, though.

Definitely the quality of the vid. Idris has killin' cymbals.

It's not the Bimhuis, either.. It's got to be one of the best places in the world for jazz.
