  • wow he's obviously a mason hmmm.

  • I MADE A VERSION OF THIS SONG THATS PRETTY GOOD CHECK IT OUT ON THE ATTACHED VIDEOS :)

  • At 3:13 I can't help but think of the scene from Close Encounters Of The Third Kind where they are communicating with the aliens through music notes. It sounds just like it.

  • 壮絶テクで有名なスティーブヴァイだが、曲がいいことをもっと言うべきだ!

  • @yusakuhamajima

  • Not only is the song intense but that album cover is sick too

  • I wonder how awesomly horrible his dream must have been to inspire this song

  • Im not sure about gilbert but I know Steve Vai is well versed in jazz.. Alot of guitarists must downplay their ability to catch ears. So what your hearing isnt actually his best by any means

  • This album is nothing short of genius. A true peer of what would be a modern day Mozart. A tour de force and a real piece de resistance if you will. Like a fine wine this album gets better with age and some days I find myself sipping on this 1990 vintage when the aquifers are just right. The bar was raised my friends. A gauntlet was toss to the ground and ripped asunder by the hand of a god! hahahaha

  • just wow so much soul and passion i love steve vai

  • vai is god

  • @TheDimebag94 god prays to vai

  • That opening riff punches you in the face, like the time I punched a stupid fucking cat in the head.

  • Вещь!!!!!!!!!

  • Вещь!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

  • People is having orgasms in their ears, lolz

  • What I love about Vai's music is that without a single word you can totaly get the feeling and the idea of the song. You can, guided by the title, picture someone in the middle of an erotic dream that doesn't go that well. And the struggle to understand what's going on and to try to wake up, but at the same time no willing to do so.

  • that man is a genious! give him a guitar, and he rocks your socks of B-)

    great!

  • most killer opening riff ever prize go's to........

  • search this song on youtube: Elita 5 - Si Marilyn Monroe and you will hear a really nice remake of this song from another band with vocal!

  • The theme song "H.T" to the show Trigun reminds me of this tune. It really sounds just so happy 80s (even though it was 90s.)

  • WCW Vs NWO Revenge!

  • @Jdub14000 I donno if it is the same song but i remember it was really similar!

  • @bfg9000 i dont know but wikipedia said it was

  • @chocolateMAN200 lol yeah wikipedia also said wikipedia itself was a legit website

  • @Jdub14000 wtf?

  • @13scott71 It a legendary wrestling video game for the N64. The melody on the riff are the same in the menu music.

  • he makes the guitar talk

  • @noquedaunbuennombre

he said he learn notation before letters :)

So he probably prefer that way of expressing emotion.

  • best part of the song 2:18 to 2:48

it just feels good to listen to and sounds sooo like vai

  • @TheMegadeth502 that part reminds me of just going to space all alone and relaxing lol. Bdw Megadeth rule!

  • kick ass!

  • What is the deal with discussions always turning to who is better? Better in what way? What IS better exactly?

It should always be about the music, because without music who cares.

    Just listen, enjoy and rockout.

  • @IncaRoad01 spot on - why cant we all say 'fuck yeah' and get along

When you are this damn good there is no best, just different

  • i'd get high to this.

  • fuck...hear this madness with a good head-phone, and go crazy man...I´ve always believed that something strange happened sometime in Vai´s mind for he could make this..."there-are-no-words-to-describe-music"...is like a cosmos-speed-travel

  • wcw vs nwo REVENGE! Hahahahahah! I wonder what Steive thought about the lousy n64 ripoff title music XD

  • OMG I was wondering where I heard this before!

  • I think the Monday Nitro theme was based off this and that title music was based off of the main theme. I did like the Monday Nitro theme though.

  • ♫ Erotic Nightmares ♫

  • I think steve vai is better than hendrix, in my opinion, hendrix is a bit overrated.Hendrix isnt that great, and i dont know why all say hes the best guitarist of all time.I dont have anything agenst hes music or guitar playing skills,im just saying there is much better guitarists, like Stevie ray vaughan and Eddie Van Halen

  • I totally agree with you on that there's much better guitarists now.

But back in the day, Hendrix was way, way ahead of his time.

Half of the things he did were so weird that they still have people scratching their heads a little today.

He deserves the acclaim in the sense that he laid alot of the groundwork of what would become rock and metal.

  • And Dimebag

  • fuckin ever best s

  • wow! great tune! :)

  • when did this song come out?

  • early 90's

  • i hate it when people say that some guitar players dont play with emotion. Its a pretty big insult. Just because you cant play it ( that's the real reason people say shit like that) doesn't mean you have to insult other guitar players

  • @blackmetal54 well not all of his songs are passionate or emotional, but if you take a look at whispering a prayer, there's a lot of feeling in that for sure!

  • @blackmetal54 hey man whoever that thinks that steve vai doesn't play with emotion doesn't have any idea of playing or listening to a guitar. vai and many other brutal legends of guitar are genius nobody cant think as fast to play like them, thats because they dont think what riff i'm going to play next?no they just feel it so thats emotion for me. To all that assholes that says what you coment before: buy a guitar, go to a good accademy and play inestead of talking with no idea!! vai rocks!!!!

  • @blackmetal54 thats a bat shit ton of emtion

  • @blackmetal54 i like my music with emotion but some people like rusty cooley and yngwie malmsteen do not play with emotion. However i still love them as emotion is not everything in guitar for there is inventivness, originality and technique all to take into account aswell

  • @rummy987 I disagree. As Al di Meola once said "Technique is not only important but most important of all because without great technique, you cant execute what you hear in you head. So whoever says that technique is not apart of emotion in guitar playing, are full of it." I not sure if i thats word for word but i did read it quite awhile ago.

I mean no disrespect of course. Its interesting for people to give me different perspectives.

  • So who was playing Ralph Macheo part in the Crossroads duel?

  • steve vai played the final part of it, but someone else did the slide recording... I can't remember who

  • ry cooder

  • my favorite by steve vai

  • 2.19 is so beutiful! It sounds like your all alone in space lol.

  • epic intro

  • 2:19 Is perfect!!!!

  • He does everything live as well as in the studio lick for lick and that is uncommon when you get to a certain skill level like this I guess the people that don't like his music just don't get it and thats kinda sad but for them theyre's always "michael jackson, huey lewis and cyndi lauper".yeh!

  • this is the best fucking song of vai!

  • He's Steve Via that's fuckin why!!!

  • 2:15 epic whammy dive

  • Steve Vai isn't just a name. It's a word for shredding

  • Great Riff, 0:00 to 0:50 FTW . Harmonics at 0:18 and 1:10 - 1:18 that's why i like Steve Vai.

  • kill yourself

  • dull? hes one of the most skilled guitarists of all time. it doesnt get much better than steve vai.

  • yo what about jimi hendrix, jimmy page, and eddie van halen, you saying steve vai is better than these guys?

  • Well I really like Steve's music but I met him to a couple of years ago but the statement that he is better than Jimi Hendrix is stupid.

Ill bet that even Steve agrees with me there

  • I think that they're diffrent and can't be judged in general like that, Every Gutiarist can do something the others can't, hendrix revolutionized that type of music, but the same can be said for Vai...vai plays fasater, but theres more emotion in hendrix...Im a bigger hendrix fan, but they cannot be judged geneerally liek that if you ask me (which you didnt, lol)

  • I've listened to Hendrix and Vai, and that emotion bit is a little ridiculous in my opinion. Vai excels in his passionate playing, which he places at a much higher priority than playing fast. Just look at his face! And the kind of stuff that comes out when he improves, it's just amazing.

  • jimi hendrix made allot of cool jams steve is more of a solo artist but ill have to say guitar playing wise ill have to go with steve via though

  • hell no, but hes up there

  • @0kill13 - I will ^_^ What people know about the instrument now is far superior to what they knew in the 60's and 70's.

  • this is the theme song of a badass wrestling game way back n64

  • It's the theme for badassery and awesomeness

  • What a fucking animal

  • I love the weird ass part that starts around 2:54 with that weird ass little solo that escalades into a beautiful riff... I don't know, it's hard to describe haha

Point being, I love this song.

  • its really erie sounding, but its cool. haha

  • There was a Radio Station in Chicago that used this jam for the background music for the Traffic Report (The Blaze) kicked ass back in the day

  • Steve Vai is the messiah

  • 2:14 is god

  • Comment removed

  • god! i love his music so much! steve vai forever!

  • thats awsome

  • 3:14 - 3:35 i almost had an orgasm

  • hell, people are turned on by the most weird things nowadays

  • Steve vai for ever!

  • steve vai is a beast!!!!!!!!!!!

  • this is ibanze guitar and pick up

  • No shit

  • steve vai for life

  • AHHH! 2:19 is AWESOME so much epic melody in that bit man. s'well good.

  • I've been playing guit. now for almost 40yrs. & the best thing I can say is just be yourself, don't try to imitate anyone, there's lot's of people out there who can play "just like-[fill in the blank"] if you do that you'll end up just another hack in a bar band, take a piece here, a piece there, & make it your own, ROCK ON!!

  • you're so right mate (Y)

  • I can't tell you how much i respect you for that comment.

  • Hell yeah! It's good to have some inspiration but true musicians make their own styles and do their own thing! Heavy respect for you man!

  • Lets be unique, just like Steve Vai!

    Rofl.

  • lol I guess you're right. Lets not compare and just enjoy teh music? lol

  • man every guitarist have his own style so dont compare anyone o them...they re all great! thats the truth this is youtube comment bullshit

  • you can't compare Vai with Gilbert... they are difrent styles... but both of them are just motherfuckers with a guitars in hands

  • not really they both play rock.

  • They play prog rock, but they are totally different...

For me, Vai is more inspiring, but Gilbert a fuckin' awesome shredder too.

  • I guess.

  • Yes, but you can clearly hear the difference in their music.

  • Yeah lololol. Either way, they are both gods.

  • Steve Vai is god. I don't know who to choose who is better... Paul Gilbert or Vai....

Though I love paul because of his ability to string skip... but I also love the emotion in Vai's songs...

    FAWK!! lol

  • Vai= totally heart-touching songs that are made from the bottom of himself

Gilbert= ultramaniac expert on guitar that makes you trip with only shredding

  • o i c

  • now if you had asked Jonas brothers or steve vai i would have put my hand through cyberspace and punched you in the face

  • o i c

  • 2:15 Ftw. :P

  • 1:48 is my favorite part!

  • This song is on the soundtrack to my life :D

  • last time i checked there is no H and dont say i dont know what im talking about because im classically trained on many instruments and synth is a laguage not notes

  • I guess during all that time you spent practicing, you never had the chance to learn what a joke is.

  • Your a dumbass dude from high to low would be (tuned to standard) for a 6 string guitar e B G D A E 7 string guitar e B G D A E B 8 string guitar e B G D A E B F# or a e B G D A E B the musical alphabet goes from A to G#
  • Man what the fuck are you talking about XD

  • Totally awesome instrumental masterpiece!

  • y would u do that? just stay standard unless ur metal lol

  • how many times would i tune my guitar down to get A E A D G B

  • Get a 7-string guitar. :D

  • are you saying just drop d everything

  • No, a 8-String guitar's tuning is mostly standard.

    Standard is B-E-A-D-G-B-E

A lower octave B string that's thicker than the low E-string.

  • 7-string sorry. Lol, no such thing as an 8 string I don't think, not unless its

    G-B-E-A-D-G-B-E

Anyone seen a drop C 7 string guitar?

  • Ibanez makes an 8 string

  • I am.

  • Vai is one of those guitarists who surpassed the master and stuck it to the man. Don't get me wrong man I love Satriani, but Vai's music is so beautiful and emotional. Just look at the facial expressions and body language he shows. He ain't a robot that's for sure man. Vai needs to come to Texas. We love him down here!

  • Nothing against Vai, I actually like his music more than Satch's because he's crazier, but facial expressions and body language are some of the worst indicators of how emotional a piece is. It's about the music, not how much you ham it up while playing it. Vai hams it up a lot, but he has legitimately emotional and interesting melodies so he can pull it off.

  • HAHAHA! Yeah dude i totally know what you mean. I can't stand it when dudes start like being constiptated on stage whilst playing 3 notes.

  • he does that man cuz hes hardcore into hte music

  • Ihave a honest question. and i want and honest answer. wich is harder to play, the guitar or the bass. i think the guitar is but thats just my opinion

  • I think, only a professional guitar AND bass guitar player could give you a correct answer...

  • Well I found Bass alot easier...

    My opinion.

    I love both though.

  • my opinion is that you cant compare them like that... its like saying whats harder, Blues or Metal.. depends on the player and where they wanna go with there music...

but bass i probably easier to start out with... but again i dont think you can compare them like that.

  • true so true

  • Depends on the player, both bass and guitar is as hard as you make it.

  • well on this song guitars harder lol

  • Of course, it's Vai, but the bass isn't easy at all on this song either. Bass is also a physically harder instrument to play.

  • sure maybe bass is hard but honestly if you think about it guitar is becouse of all these guitarists who play fast and good theres a standerd that we have to meet before were even considered good and you cant really hear when bass messes up but if guitar messis up every one and there mother knows. we have to play a good solo or the crowd gets dulled. so the bass is physical stress and the guitar is mentle stress so there both even in there own way!

  • You can't hear when a bassist messes up?

Bass is just as hard as guitar, and even a more physically challenging instrument.

The mental stress is just an imaginary standard most guitarists think they have to live up too, which is kind of dumb on the count of that they just think of the guitar solo instead of what benefits the music they're making.

  • Dude try shuting up i was trying to peaceful but your probebly a bass player whos probebly a stage hog and is saying base is harder because you play bass. the best string instrument players are guitar players and no bass player can match up too the top 100 guitarists of today so blow me. im srry for posting such a bad thing on one of vai's videos so please forgive me ConcreteTheSecond

  • I am acctually peaceful, and I'm also a guitarplayer, I don't play much bass at all.

And, there is no doubt that the best string instrument players are gutiar players, BUT, that doesn't mean bass isn't equally difficult. But i do believe there are bassists that can match up to the top 100 guitarists, it just has to be a person that has has taken it to that level, there aren't many of them, but they do exist. And even if there are few of them, it doesn't make the instrument any easier.

  • Okay, that was enough...

(tried a bass, i think it's not a big deal and it's much easier then electric guitar, but because i'm not a bass-guitarist, my opinion worth NOTHING...)

    No more flame, please.

  • That's just because you didn't take it as far, if you play easy bass, it's the same as playing easy guitar.

Nothing will be hard, unless you try something hard.

  • I've played blues, bebop, metal;

tried fast soloing, two hand tapping, etc.

    Everything was easier...

  • so, set aside the fact that the string dimensions are larger, the frets are wider, and the strings in general are harder to move, and you played as you usually would on guitar, and you still found bass easier?

It's basically the same instrument, just an octave lower, take away and give a few things on the techniques of picking (if you use a pick), the way of holding your hand on the fretboard, general feel of the instrument and such.

  • bass just isnt nearly as complex...it can be - but in most music it isn't

  • Then it isn't about the instrument, but about the player.

Bass and guitar are equally complex instruments, and bass has larger dimensions in strings, fretboard and so on.

It is equal instruments, just that most bass players choose to make it easy. Playing Blink 182 and Jonas Brothers on guitar isn't hard, but that doesn't mean that guitar isn't hard.

  • Have you ever heard of Flea? Victor Wooten? Les Claypool? I could go on, there is tons of complicated bass music.

  • you forgot Billy Sheehan.

  • phew ok lets just settle on it just depends on who you are and what you learn

  • That's right, but you can't deny that guitar and bass is equally hard, just because the players make it easy, it doesn't make the instrument easy.

  • woops... such***

  • :DD

  • suck a sick opening riff A+++++++++

  • that goes to my favs =D

  • hey im only fifteen and i love this song yet i listen to death metal and thrash but steve is still my insperation
