Actually DDT killed the mosquitos and parasites that spread avian diseases which is why the eagle population rose 25% during the DDT years. In fact some bird species rose 200-300% in population.

DDT killed the bugs that carried avian diseases so during the DDT years bird populations soared, including the eagle population.
