  • one of the most dangerous machines ever made but proabaly one of the best built an toughest my g pa had one i got when he died it had the brush hog front on it an damn that thing would cut through anything u asked it to just dont fall down while ur backin up lol

  • @TheRebelman95 The older L models like this one were equipped with Gravely's own make engine. It is a T-head engine. One valve on each side of the piston. I think they started putting the Kohlers on them around '67 or so. If you look for the repair and start up video before this one on my channel, you can see this tractors engine with the head off.

  • @ROCKNTV1 Thanks. That it will!

  • lol, good vid bud,, i think 8 hrs behind that thing would make a man out of anyone.

  • @UPGardenr Thanks, I will! The should be a few more with it in them.

  • Great vid, Keep up the good work. More vid on this machine.

  • @5410driver Yeah sure is nice! No other engine can match it. I've also heard it called the "Thunder of a Gravely".

  • @5Tractorguy what motor do they have? sounds very close to my kohler k241 10hp

  • God i love that gravely hum when they run . sound all of their own

  • @Stammon Thanks! I thought about putting the pto lever on this maching, but I'd like to keep it original. Enguaging the lever from under the batt box isn't a big deal as long as I'm carefull. This was my first time using a gravely with the rotary plow, we had to chew up some crab grass so I figured I'd try it out in the yard. Don't worry, I check my oils regularly. If you'd like, you can see the most recent plow video of our garden in my videos from the last few days.

  • This is very cool, but you need a couple of things. First, get the optional lever that will disconnect the drive to the plow, it makes it much easier and safer. Then set up your garden to plow for a long distance, you are killing yourself on a small garden.

Lastly, check your oils every day you start, these machines are old and can lose all their gear oil in a day.

Good luck, you have a great machine. I will post my vids of my '48 plowing in a bit.

  • No I don't I was just wondering because my l8 runs to fast for my snow blower and I have to take a bite and let it eat it up before continuing

  • @64gravely Thanks. From what I hear they won't because of the enguagement lever mechanism on the axle. Do you have a pair?

  • Nice gravely do you know if gear reduction wheels fit on a L-8 with the 2 speed axle?

  • @superrf85 Thanks! They sure are rugged machines! And definatly my favorite.

  • Wow! So that's how those things work! I have seen photos but I didn't realize they were that scary to use. Good video! Those Gravelys are built like tanks.

  • @ashepherd89 Pulling a gravely with gear reduction wheels backwards, especially an LI, is quite hard on a hill. Althought there is the adjustment you can make to the lever for the "safety" reverse setting. Good luck on getting yours running!

  • nice tractor and plow hope to get mine running soon.

  • i would sooner pull my tractor backwards then use the reverse.

  • @philipx2 That's neat. Let me tell ya, you know you're working when you use one of these all day, even when you're letting the machine do the work!

  • @mrbreeze732 No he didn't, he died naturaly years before I got these. And if I'm reading your comment right, I'm only 16, I ain't married yet.

  • I used to help my dad run our Gravely rotary plow when I was a kid. He just got rid of it recently has an upgraded Deere..... Brings back memories... Like the vid....

  • Did the guy die using that machine? You said the wife gave it to you...Give it back before your wife gives it away
