  • Wow captions work! Stephen Fry must be so enunciated

  • ... I just realized the Guide was narrated by Stephen Fry... OH WHY COULDN'T THEY HAVE MADE MORE OF THOSE MOVIES?

  • This should have been kept in the movie.

  • Screw your debate. I like bacon.

  • god is made up by stupid people that can't understand science. the end. get over it :)

  • @NarcissisticNarwhal Thats not nice to say, i myself do not believe in god BUT you musnt that poeple that do believe are stupid. And btw science does not prove that god doesnt exist neither does it do prove it. so ya.

  • @jorisding mustn't say*

  • @jorisding The burden of proof

  • @NarcissisticNarwhal science can't test if god exists or not.. for now, so you cant say religious people are stuipid it doesn't prove god does or doesn't exist

  • Why are two people fighting on a hitchhikers guide to the galaxy video?! Get a life!

  • I find it so ironic that two people are trying to have a logical discussion in the comments of a video from the Hitchhiker's Guide.

  • as demonstrated.

  • Wait, isn't that an image of god?

  • Im god, and you killed me, but here Im, so then... I exist, because you killed me, but therefor, I never existed.

  • @TheDream Your comment about theories being "promoted to laws" saddens me and every educated person who read it.

  • @dxplq876 I must amid that I am sadden, that my use of “law” saddens you, especially since you thereby hits that I am not an educated person ;) – Well I used the term law, not in the sense of an universal truth, but meant it as a collection of theories that people commonly recognise as be the dominant explanation of natural phenomenons.

  • How funny. Faith should be in proofs, not in blind obedience.

  • God disliked this, and then vanished in a puff of logic:)

  • " It proves you do exist, and so therefore, you don't" I wonder if George Carlin ever saw this.

  • i hope people talkin about the bible know it was wrote three hundred years after "jesus"was born now how can that be acurate.

  • Okay, so then who created science?

  • @Bablet16 No one has created science. Science is the logical and systematic deduction, that builds and organizes knowledge in the form of testable explanations and predictions about the world.

  • @TheDream So science was just always or science created itself because it always was because it's how it works? If that makes sence.

  • @Bablet16 I am not sure that I get your point or that you get my point ;) – No science has not always been around, there where a time where we didn’t had science to help us understand how the world works, but then some really smart people came up with the scientific method of looking and describing the word – a way btw that scientist constantly are debating and looking at as a methodology.

  • @TheDream My second instance of science, I don't entirely mean the methods and stuff, but the things I'm learning about, I just couldn't really find the word for it (Oh look, I still can't XD) Sorry I'm kind of confusing

  • @TheDream no science has always been there, we just didn't have a name for it, the caveman who discovered how to make fire didn't call it science, he just did it, the same for knowing that animal skins keep you warm when it snows, Science is the thought process all go through when trying to solve a problem

  • @TheDream Science is the question: Why. Meaning: for what. What is what? 'What' is a thing. That thing is science. Anything that exists is science.

  • @TheOkami1113 I respectfully disagree ‘What’ isn’t science. It is the object of science, What is the object of why.

  • @TheDream

That was his point. :P Someone came up with the scientific method and logical reason, which allowed them to see the patterns and laws in the universe.

  • @FraggingBard Well I would argue that you don't create science, you practices science by using for example the scientific method and logical reasoning.

  • @Bablet16 Science and math were both developed over time to create a better explanation of the existence of man than that he started with a boy and a rib.

  • @ratherlargepie Okay, I figured out what I mean now. I ment that the scientific answeres (The bacteria and molecues and other such that create the beings which exist) have always already been here. I think. Oh, maybe I should just never mind this, sorry for any inconvieniances

  • @Bablet16 it's all good

  • @TheDream Hate to say it but there you are wrong, Science as we know it was created over many years by different philosophers. The very definition you give for science was postulated by men like Francis Bacon as a response to the Aristotelian philosophy that dominated academia during his time. This is why the science you describe is described by some as "Baconian science".

  • @Bablet16 man himself

  • @Bablet16

The video is not trying to disprove God, merely show a funny logical train of thought that makes less sense than you'd think. Something like The Holy Grail and it's treatise on ducks and witches.

  • @FraggingBard I know, I was just asking

  • i understand now

  • "and then for an encore, man goes on to the prove that black is in fact white and gets himself killed in the next pedestrian crossing." --Adams

  • Check out some stuff by Neil deGrasse Tyson about the beauty of the universe. youtube.com/watch?v=VOzkEwaMnaE

  • @toverkleet He is such a boss.

  • @Revenwazhere hell yeah :)

  • LOL. Only our future selfs could become this stupid.

  • "You do exist, and therefore you don't!" XD Stop trying to take this video as a serious debating point, everyone. It's a joke from a movie based on possibly the funniest book ever written. It neither proves nor disproves anything.

  • @CaptainAndyman You Should read the entire series. There Great

  • When I was about 7I was doing up my shoes, tied the last loop, looked up and there was a green skinned man with short white hair wearing a white robe with bare feet. He was just standing there with his hands clasped in front staring at me. I stared back. We just looked at each other for about 7 seconds and then he disappeared right in front of me with no sound or anything. He later tortured the living shit out of me. What am I supposed to believe? Believe me and no one else ! Did he evolve too?

  • @yvettefoto Now THIS is trolling! :D

  • "Vanishes in a puff of logic."

I like that. In future situations, I will bring it up and use it as if I thought of it :D

  • evolution can be proved. all living things mutate and evolve to adapt and survive. we know that but Religions say thats just a theory..its not a theory, its a fact. Look at the bonestructure of old fossils we humans have found from a millions years ago. according to the bible we are decendans of the first humans, Adam and Eva but thats wrong. there are no human skeletons of million years ago because we just didnt exist in the way we are now. we were animals then, and we looked like animals.

  • Who ever takes this argument seriously is, to put it mildly, very silly. 1. there is no such thing as a babel fish. I really really wish there was but alas I have no such luck. 2. The argument is: If there is proof of god then he doesn't exist.

  • It would be interesting to do a research of the average age of all the commenters so far. I personally wouldn't be surprised if it come out to be a number between 15 and 18.

Sorry if I am wrong but it sounds awfully alike highschool bashing to me. It's like I am sitting in a classroom and hear a bunch of morons argue about something which none of them even begin to fully comprehend, at an exceedingly loud voice. Just shut the fuck up already, will you!!!!!

  • I'm a christian and this in no way is even a proof. I don't understand how this should make other Christians start a debate. It is satirical humor on the human race and that can be enjoyed by everyone. Plus, those of you who know Christ should know the incredible things that He has done far outside the explanations of any modern theory.

  • 42

  • The volume for this video is sure low but this was an interesting video.

  • y r people arguing about evolution and god just leave it alone and get on wit ur lives not every1 wants 2 hear ur opinion plz the video above is funny just argue about this somewhere else plz

  • "Oh, that was easy," says man, and for an encore goes on to prove that black is white, and gets killed on the next zebra crossing.

  • Also @HolyFiyre

And yes it is a Theory, and yes it is called a theory why? Because it could be proven to be wrong at some point, that is what science is all about, the constant search for proof or disproof of a given idea. Every year there is scientist trying to disproof gravity, even though that the theory of gravity has been graduated to a “law”. Calling something a theory doesn’t mean that it still is a untested thesis, just that it haven been completely explained and completely proven.

  • @TheDream

Wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong. Theories can NEVER be elevated to a law. A theory explains a law. The theory of relativity is there to explain the law of gravity. I'm assuming this comment is referring to evolution, the theory of evolution explains a natural, observable phenomena that happens every second.

  • @mike3667 You are right, I was wrong in equating theory with law, but that where why I put it in Quote ;) - but you are right :D

  • @TheDream

Scientific Law - Explains what happens.

Scientific Theory - Explains why it happens.

The Big Bang theory (not the show..) can never "graduate to a law", as it explains how/why the universe was created. The Atomic Theory can never "graduate to a law" as it explains how/why things exist. Newton's Laws of Falling are laws because they explain what the rates of falling are, not how it happens.

Besides, the theory of Gravity has already been disproved, by a little man named Einstein.

  • @TeaBagOfTruth1776 @TheDream,

    Two things:

In hindsight, this looks a lot more attack-ish than it was originally intended. I apologize.

Newton didn't do Laws of Falling, (or if he did, they were not the ones I was talking about), Galileo did.

  • @TheDream

It's a theory accepted as fact, which would be the debate I'm not going to get into. Merely here to point out that gravity definitely exists, the what or why on the other hand is something beyond our current knowledge. Somewhat like light in that manner, don't know how it works, we only know the effects. No-one tries to disprove gravity, since jumping off of a building is something they'll never do. They just come up with various thoughts on how it works. All ultimately failing.

  • @TheDream A law is something that can be demonstrated to be true under certain conditions.

For example, the LAW of gravity says that things will fall down.

The THEORY of gravity is an attempt to explain why things fall down (That is a rather large oversimplification)

It doesn't matter how solid a theory of science is, it will always be a theory. Cell Theory is arguably one of the strongest theories in Biology, but you wouldn't call it Cell LAW.

  • @HoyFiyre

Sorry but that just ridicules, so the Catholic church have accepted the theory of evolution, just as long as we all pretend that it where gods will to run the big experiment? Isn’t that the same as saying after the fact that it was what I intended all the time, regardless of what the intent where?

  • @TheDream And that's why, as someone with a science degree, I leave it as "Maybe God caused the Big Bang. But you'd have to go back at least that far to fit him in easily".

  • Also @TheMidwestAtheist

The theory of evolution is simply that, a theory describing how things may have happened, and one way to explain how the diversity of life as we know it came about. The theory in and of itself contains no statement about religion, it simply gives an explanation as to what may have happened.

If it means anything, the Catholic church has actually stated that evolution is an acceptable viewpoint so long as it's members view it with as God's method.

  • @TheMidwestAtheist

My type of colorblindness causes blue and purple to be indistinguishable from another. So in my reality, the sky is neither. It's sky-colored.

  • What was God's announcement to the Universe after its creation? =D Anyone know?

  • @heresthadude1080 "We apologize for the inconvenience."

  • @arccollins xD Made my day when I first heard it

I'm Christian, though so I don't want to be sacreligious

  • Lol

  • Lol I don't think that most of you realize that Douglas Adams was an atheist

  • This movie is too funny. I love it. People (namely extremist christians/catholics) need to stop being offended at the drop of a hat. And youtube commenters need to stop debating philosophy and beliefs over the internet.

  • @ hotfuzz456 "MAN AND APES BOTH EVOLVED FROM A COMMON ANCESTOR JESUS CHRIST..." ???? That is the dumbest thing ever written on you tube! Millions of people existed before Jesus.

  • @TheBrokenheartist

Trust me man, I think this guy is stupid too, but...I think he meant "JESUS CHRIST" as part of an exclamation...unless I'm wrong. And there is a massive hole in his argument too: what is stopping that common ancestor from being an ape?

  • where did you get this video from?

  • Make a video mentioning religion in some form:

Get hundreds of comments heatedly arguing over religion

  • @abbaraki no there is no proof of evolution. Natural Selection is a plague on mankind. It's going to cause nothing but holocaust after holocaust. Its not misunderstood that evolution is not a fact. the only type of evolution that has been proven is microevolution and the Bible supports that.

  • @CloverfieldMonster95 Mankind is enough of a plague on itself. Also, because of medicine and technical progress, the question is to what extent natural selection still has an influence on mankind. Microevolution = evolution, and why look for biblical support for anything? But I guess we can just keep on discussing until the apocalyps :p It's useless to try because according to my devilish atheistic views science rules out religion, and you stand by you beliefs I assume :) I can respect that

  • @TheEchoesofMetroid Don't be fooled by this pseudo science they put in our textbooks. Its not science and its not proven. open your eyes.

  • Part of being a catholic is definitely being constructively judgmental to abstract ideas but to accept ideas and theories from other religions and beliefs and not let it affect your personal faith.

  • I think, Therefore I am. I don't think, therefore I am not. Poof! I'm gone.

At least until someone thinks me back into existence.

  • @easy99 really? because Genesis says different. God formed man from the dust of the Earth.

  • @heavymetalking98 you can't be a Christian and believe in evolution at the same time. It's a good thing that Evolution is still a theory and not proven.

  • @CloverfieldMonster95 "you can't be a Christian and..." not be intellectually subnormal.

    -fixed

  • @CloverfieldMonster95 Evolution does nothing to harm the belief in God.

  • @CloverfieldMonster95 that's single handily one of worst comments I've ever read in my life. LMAO look up "theory" first before you use it.

  • @CloverfieldMonster95 Evolution is a fact, the scientific proof is overwhelming. The evolution theory is a theory, because the precise underlying mechanisms are only partly understood to this date. Darwin's theory is now already adjusted with all the genetic evidence that was uncovered. The argument that evolution is just a theory is a general misunderstanding. The problem is that you cannot explain evolution in a few sentences, while it's very easy to put in a capital letter and say "it's God".

  • Does anyone else realize that the joke is that the logic equation is a flawed one, and that's what makes this funny? Also, since when did God ever say anything of the sort?

  • Here's a thought to ponder: if there is a god and he did in fact create the world, it doesn't necessarily mean he has control over what happens. Just like a scientist in a lab, he creates and observes.

  • Why does God look like Darwin?

  • God doesn't run on a treadmill, he's all about acupuncture.

  • I want this voice to narrate my entire life.

  • This is the strangest thing I have ever heard about God.

  • Comment removed

  • @heavymetalking98 You are right that could be the case, but if that where the case wouldn’t that mean that 99% of the bible is wrong then, and if the bible is wrong what basis for belief in god in the first place do we have?

  • @TheDream Honestly i'm just spit balling here I just said that hoping to make sense of the whole god made everything and science theories stuff. I'm not trying to step on any toes here but people can believe in whatever they need in order to help them live there lives. To me this is just a really funny movie and zooey deschanel is cute as well so there's that. But like I said I hope i'm not offending anyone here I just wanted to say what was on my mind.

  • @TheDream @heavymetalking98 the way that the bible is interpreted is up to the person. In Catholicism we view the genesis as highly metaphorical. Did God pick up clay to make man? Maybe. Could he have also picked up clay (i.e. apes) from the ground (the world) and formed (through evolution) man? Sure. Could God also not exist and all of this happened by chance? Alright. It really depends on the way you choose to look at the world, so long as we are respectful we should all be better off

  • @BlueStrikeP Well it is hard to disagree with you – But the problem is that only one of those options can be true, and that makes the rest a lie. But you are right as long as we are respectful and we don’t tries to force other to see the world as we does we should all be better off ;)

  • @TheDream It would be infinitely easier if we could prove one of those to be correct eh?

  • @BlueStrikeP @TheDream "But the problem is that only one of those options can be true, and that makes the rest a lie."

Indeed! If I said, "Is the sky purple? Alright. It really depends on the way you choose to look at the world..." No, I think those of us who can see in color realize that the sky is some bluish hue, but certainly not purple. If you think the sky is actually purple, you'd better have some evidence to back up your claim...

  • @BlueStrikeP @TheDream And in the case of a deity, if you don't have the answers ("Did God pick up clay to make man? Maybe." etc.), then maybe you, BlueStrikeP, shouldn't go around acting like you do. Because one minute it is "highly metaphorical" and then the next minute it is "maybe". This presents a bit of a problem. Particularly, how do you get off saying Genesis is a metaphore without knowing how your god created man? How do you know what the metaphore is? This is where we have problems.

  • @BlueStrikeP There are other, much older books where people have turned to in order to get their answers. How about the Mahabarata's Bhagavad-Gita, the Hindu Vedas and the Avestas of Zarathustra? Just to name a few.

Oh and evolution by natural selection (and genetic drift) is all BUT random. It is a non-random process which works with mutations. (which, indeed, happen to be random). But it is a cumulative process, so calling it random is sort of a redherring.

  • @bboyCrazyLegs The reason I chose the bible is because that is the book that I am familiar with and the one that was previously brought up in the discussion that I decided to join. I was simply telling TheDream that just because man came from evolution it does not mean that the bible is 99% wrong.

I'm afraid I'm not entirely sure where you're coming from.

  • @BlueStrikeP Evolution is not a chance process it is governed by natural processes that are well documented. The only thing random in evolution are mutations, the selection of the mutations depend upon whether or not the mutation manages to maintain itself in the next generation. DNA formed and is sustained every time species reproduce because of the benefit it brings towards making new offspring. That DNA(double helix) did not form out of no where it mutated from earlier RNA(single helix).

  • @BlueStrikeP I'm an atheist.....That DOESN'T mean i love Satan ('cause that's a satanist)...I just think some of the stuff in the bible are a little... far fetched....

  • @DTZMasters sorry but... where are you coming from? I don't even... wha-?

  • @BlueStrikeP lol

  • @heavymetalking98 HUMANS DID NOT EVOLVE FROM APES YOU STUPID MOTHER FUCKER, and that goes for anyone else who thinks we evolve from apes.

MAN AND APES BOTH EVOLVED FROM A COMMON ANCESTOR JESUS CHRIST YOU PEOPLE ARE THICK AS FUCK.

  • @HotFuzz456 Hey motherfucker when I made that comment i was just saying what was on my mind no need to overeact over it. Jeez fuckhead lighten up will i mean to me this is just a really good movie and zooey deschanel is cute. Also alan rickman played marvin dead on perfect and mos def was good too.

  • @HotFuzz456 -trollface-

  • @TheDream @heavymetalking98 "Like he made the apes to evolve into humans or something like that?"

I have just a slight issue with this. That wouldn't be evolution then... just like if the reason we don't float off into space is because angels hold us down wouldn't be gravity. To put it another way, the whole idea of evolution is to find a way to explain the diversity of life without invoking a deity. Once you invoke a deity, it is no longer evolution by definition.

  • @TheMidwestAtheist I'm now starting to realize that putting that comment was a bad idea. I really don't know much about all this god and science stuff to me Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy is a really funny movie. Also zooey deschanel is really cute.

  • @thepeterlong That's because it is :) It's Stephen Fry

  • What's with the music? The movie clip is excellent without the piano in the background.

  • Love it. Next time your casually high on acid open up the book anywhere and read a few pages. Mind blowingly deep. Espescially the bit with the whale :)

  • the bable fish is sooo cute! I love it! <3

  • i knew i'd find a fight on here. enjoy the show!

  • That series books has so much more to say about God and religion than just that, ie, the curse of eternal life, the abusurdity of creationism, etc etc. I'd go as far as to say the series was a big huge dig at Christianity and other similar religions. Adams was a satirical genius.

  • Once there was 42...

  • Well, that About Sums it up for God.

  • is this stephen frys voice?

  • @lizzithelion Yes. His narration of the guide is the only redeeming feature of the new film.

  • @lizzithelion No, I can't recall who it was now, but it wasn't Fry.

  • @lizzithelion Sorry, my mistake, I was thinking this was from the old BBC TV series. Now I realise it was from the more recent movie, which I think was Fry.

  • I love this clip. It shows it's one big paradox!

  • I didn't click on a video about the Hitchhiker's Guide to read through philosophical dissertations.

  • Meh, I'm a Catholic and a big fan of the hitch-hiker's guide (both the book and the film)...way I see it if I let my religion stop me from enjoying such a wonderful story of existence, purpose and our own feelings of futility in the vastness of the universe then I'd just be culturally ignorant.

  • @newsboy600 Great comment :D

  • @newsboy600 Could not have put it better myself. Well, well put. I'm Christian and I very much love the books and the movie.

  • this guy sounds like the guy from littlebigplanet, you know, the guy who teaches you what to do? thumbs up if u know wut i mean.

  • @CheatShop That's probably because it is the same person...

  • iz da lbp guys voice!! :O

  • Why don't my books sound like Stephen Fry?

  • Faith precedes knowledge.

  • I disagree with God's first line. I don't have faith in God. I KNOW God exists, from personal experience, observation, and research disproving the Big Bang. We cannot just happen by chance.

If you get into the Christian argument, then the faith would have to be placed in the idea that Christ can save us when we die. We can't prove it. God won't prove it because that denies faith. Sure, it's said in the Bible, but most don't consider that 'proof' anyways.

    idk... :P

  • @Janiemanie1993 When are you religious numbskulls gonna learn that the big bang has got nothing to do with chance calculation

  • @Insomnium2188 Sure it does. SOMETHING (I've searched for what it might actually be, but haven't found anything) exploded, expanded, and somehow concocted life on a planet that could support it. Sounds like chance to me.

  • @Janiemanie1993

A: The big bang was not an explosion

B: We can't look further back to t=a few milisecs. what exactly happens on t=0 or what happen before is and probably will forever be a mystery

C: The big bang has nothing to do with abiogenesis and evolution of life on planet earth.

D: Can you please explain where and how chance calculation applies on the happening of the big bang itself?

E: Props for you for actually admitting SOMETHING instead of using the endless "out of nothing" argument

  • @Insomnium2188

I HATE the 'out of nothing' argument. It's overused and I didn't think you'd appreciate it.

... Everything I've ever found about the Big Bang says that it was an explosion. I also disagree with C. The Big Bang was the start of the universe. I don't see how it could NOT have something to do with evolution on Earth.

If it's not chance, then something or someone planned it. That's usually how that works.

Can you send me a link or a book title for where you get your info?

  • @Janiemanie1993 It is true that a lot of sources maybe even a lot of scientific ones use the term 'Explosion' to describe the happening of the big bang. The term of explosion is a misdemeanor in the sense that matter didn't literally exploded into existence but the dense universe in the first few seconds expanded many times it's own magnitude. Because of this very fast initial expansion people like to use the term explosion.

  • @Janiemanie1993 Well the big bang started the universe where the earth eventually formed, but the earth and the evolution of life on it is not a direct result of the big bang. You're basically skipping the division of forces, stellar formation and evolution, planetary formation and evolution, and abiogenesis, before arriving at life on earth. Nor does the big bang play a role at explaining evolution. They are both separate theories.

  • @Janiemanie1993 I think that we use different definitions for the term 'chance'. I think, and correct me if I'm wrong, that you see 'chance' as a synonym for 'randomness' and if something is not random then it has to be planned. What i mean by 'chance' is the probability calculation. i.e. how great is the chance of picking a green marble out of a bag of red, green and blue marbles and such. We can't calculate the chance of the big bang happening because...

  • @Insomnium2188 because we don't know anything beyond our own universe nor do we fully understand the big bang itself.

  • @Insomnium2188 ... That's the most in depth thing I've ever gotten from anyone on youtube. Congrats!

See, everything you said was all new information for me. When you go to a Christian school, it's hard to get unbiased information. Really quite annoying, actually.

Yes, that's how I was picturing chance as.

Here's another problem I have with the Big Bang Theory: It's a theory. It can't be experimented about, it can't be proven, and it cannot be recreated.

  • Thus, the Big Bang might not even be true. There have been theories in the past that have been disproved, classic example being the theory of a flat Earth.

The argument between us cannot be solved unless there is undeniable proof for one side or the other. Theories don't satisfy me, and the Bible doesn't satisfy you. I could list modern miracles, but you'd explain them away. You could point out the 'fallacies' of God, and I'd explain them away. We'd just create circular logic.

  • It's terrible that humans on planet Earth don't have more answers. There would defiantly be peace if we had them all.

We'll just have to agree to disagree before this gets out of hand.

Or I could drag the 'out of nothing' argument in. ;)

Seriously, though, where did you get all that info? I'm trying to research so that I can have better and more relevant points so I'm not the stupid Christian girl who uses arguments like 'Because GOD said so'!

  • @Janiemanie1993

yes.. at least i finds humans like you...

completely entertaining...... i could tell you the answer...

    but you won't like it......

  • @ChaosKingZera .... What exactly are you replying to? Cuz I don't know what question I asked that you have the answer to. Entertaining??

The last line is from the movie, right? haven't watched in a while.

  • @Janiemanie1993 You do know that a theory does not equate to an idea right? The scientific model works like this: teacher.pas.rochester.edu/phy_labs/appendixe/appendixe.html. A theory in scientific context, actually constitutes empirical evidence. certain aspects of theories maybe false. Theories even may be false in its entirety (Which is called a scientific revolution). This does not explain away previous evidence (now facts) though.

  • @Insomnium2188 Science does not claim to hold absolute truth and changes itself because of it. Your bible and religion in general does. Scientific theories are simply models that best describe the current human understanding of reality as per the evidence. Nothing more nothing less.

unfortunately the word theory is often misused in common tongue and things might be labeled theories even though they did not stem forth from science.

  • Yes, I know that a theory does not equate an idea. But the current human understanding is bound to change.Because of this, there is no undeniable truth for either side, which is exactly what I said before.

You believe in science because you have faith in it. You believe that even when it changes, it will still partially explain what happened in the beginning and how we came into being. Why does it matter if I have faith in something else? Why continue try to try to explain the unexplainable?

  • @Janiemanie1993 I believe in science because there is actually good reason too e.g. actually evidence, working models and a method which ensures consensus. Belief in religion is baseless, based on emotional appeal, up for interpretation of ancient religious texts, most often asserting dominion-ism and absolute truth. You assert that it is either religion or science which is a false dichotomy. There are plenty of scientists who are religious: Ken Miller for example.

  • @Janiemanie1993 Our origins aren't unexplainable. We have perfectly fine working models of our origins namely evolution, big bang theory for example. In the future we might even add abiogenesis to the list. If you want to believe it is divinely ordained, steered, whatever that is up to you. One thing is for sure it most definitely did not happen as described in genesis. .... but in the end. if u prefer blind faith over truth that is your business

  • Could you please explain what working models of our origins is? I don't quite understand that phrase personally.

  • @Janiemanie1993 Nothing? :3

i really don't know anything!!! hehehehe.... and even if i knew...

why would i tell a normal human the whole background of reality?

    hypothetically of course!!!! hehehehehe... ^_^

  • @jamesdrummerman this is just a bit of fun, no one is trying to force religion (or lack thereof) onto you. Lighten up. :)

  • Wow, really guys? You read the Bible and give me ten good reasons to not believe in God. Babble fish don't exist anyways.

  • @jamesdrummerman You read the lord of the rings and give me twenty good reasons not to believe in the power of the one ring:O! And I happen to believe that the Babblefish does exist, I have it here in a bowl in my room:O It's how I learned English and German.. Yet for some reason the Babblefish doesn't want me to learn French... I wonder why:(

  • @evildeathmonkey1 It is babelfish not babble

  • @jamesdrummerman

give me ONE reason to believe in him that doesn't involve the assumption that he exists. to give the bible any credit as divine text is to assume already that god exists. Obviously this is not a position that you can work from when questioning whether or not god exists.

that would be what's known as circular logic.

the bible "proves" god "proves" the bible "proves" god "proves" the bible "proves" god "proves" the bible proves nothing.

  • @jamesdrummerman Same reason you don't believe in the Babel fish. It's written in a book, without any outside evidence.

  • Why does God look so much like Santa?

  • @screamwriter1 Because me made both of them up.

  • i dont remember this in the remake, hmmm. Censorship?

  • @Forserean it's in the special features on the dvd.

  • Regardless of your beliefs on the existence of god, if you're arguing about such things HERE, on a HITCHHIKER'S GUIDE TO THE GALAXY YOUTUBE VIDEO, you need to reconsider some aspects of yourself.

  • Douglas Adams' own beliefs aside, I wonder why The Guide has so many references to God. I thought that Zarquon was the most prevalent deity in this particular universe, wasn't he? *lol*

  • who even gives a shit what someone believes? atheist or theist, we all need to find better things than to fight about proving the seemingly unprovable. bc no matter what someone of another belief might say, we already assume we are right and then it's a waste of time. again, who gives a shit?

  • our very headstong man who just proved the nonexistance of God just set out to prove that black is white and got himself killed at the next inner-city crosswalk
