this definitely should have been on guitar hero. I'm tryin to learn this insane song on actual guitar and so far i've been working on it for three days and i've only gotten to 58 seconds in and that still needs work.
@dakaduuda Yes it is, I have the sheet music, because they had that track at some point in a guitar mag, can't remember which one. But it says there that the original is tuned down a half step on Yngwie's recording.
his impact on modern guitarists is enormous. I love the guys who say " i hate yngwie", then go rip some fast harmonic minor scales with bach-type sequencing....um hello?
@Gtrplayer77 yea but it's not like anyone else could have just come and transposed bach's techniques from clavi to electric guitar... (i like malmsteen btw, he's just not the super ultra genius hes cracked up to be)
@DOWATTS dude - or dudette... check out Vinnie Moore, Marty Friedman, Paul Gilbert. all kings of shred when shred was in its hay-day. Synyster Gates is a carbon copy of a polaroid of a memo of any of these dudes (some of these references might be before ur time). He's what you get when you cross Justin Beiber w/a shred guitarist. Yngwie Malmsteen is what you get when cross Zeus w/a Strat and a winged horse.
in my opinion..there are better players than him...but considering there are so many out there..who just shred...yngwie shreds with so much feel..even paul gilbert, jason becker and many others have paid tribute to him..yeah he might be old and fat now..but when he stepped into the guitar world,he sure did influence many many players after him..
i dont care how technical players are today, they are almost like robots as yngwie was doing this all on the spot. he has the best tone ever here and he has more feeling in one note than any MAB speed kills lick
@DOWATTS Yngwie is very good, but there are a lot of better guitarists. Also, playing 7859863 notes per second is not enough to create masterpieces. After his first three albums, Yngwie became an exhibitionist
My mate James had the History of the Fender Strat book and Yng was in the back, he was the only one that looked like a metaller so Jim bought the CD. I remember him giving me his earphones at school during interval. I waited years before he came to NZ. In the crowd their were some hardcore Maori Yng fans. One said hey ask my mate what he named his son, so I asked he replied James Yngwie Atawhai J Malmsteen. Fuckin most classic shit ever...
By today's standard this isn't much, but I just listened to almost every "big time" metal album from '83. More precise, their guitar solos, and putting this album in that context makes you understand the extent of Yngwie's grandeur.
In this month's Guitar Techiques magazine's issue there's the tabs for this. I'm just trying to play it, this man is absolutely insane I think and that's why I love Yngwie Malmsteen.
to;randyrhoads82rip-thanks for the superior sound quality-way better than tinny shitty condensor microphone bootleg bush-league bullshit-some of the live recordings are unfortunatly unlistenable.
These Days,i was in my computer and listened this incredible song.At 4:20 to 4:35 i pulled off the earphones and turned the volume up.My mom came, desesperated,to my bedroom and said:
"Is that you playing??"
I turned around with my eyes filled with tears and answered:
@angelds1990 yngwie isn't a girl? with all that curly long hair? and all those rings? and necklaces? and leopard prints? i'm pretty sure it is a girl.
yngwies one of my favourite and im doing the very same he done and going to his roots like paganini and bach, yngwie ftw but i was just commenting on how guthrie blew me away with his speed and precise technique. cheers for replying on my comment as well btw :)
I wish Yngwie had continued down the path of instrumental music...pretty much anything of his with vocals or past the trilogy suite record is so contrived...
3:46 to the end I would like to hear anybody play that part with that level of emotion, tasteful vibrato and phrasing. There are some guys who can run through the notes, but I've never heard anybody deliver the whole package.
@ExtremeBogom Did you make that comment dude??? If so I agree totally, fuckin AAAA++++ You can't compare Yngwie to Gary Moore, Paul Gilbert, Angus Young, Brian May etc... Horses for Courses etc...
Desesperated? HAHAHAHA, Awesome! And Yngwie kicks ass!

As Vai once put it, Yngwie is a shark among minnows.
cjmark67 3 weeks ago
Gguerra has a near-perfect cover of this up - he fingers it more classically as opposed to the 3 finger yngwie method (yngwie has huge friggin hands)

oisinboydisrandy 1 year ago
@oisinboydisrandy
Yeah? And Holdsworth owns Guthrie....
Guthrie Govan is an entirely different kind of player to Yngwie.
You simply can't compare these two guitarists, and remember that Govan never plays classical stuff. Just as Yngwie doesn't play Fusion. You see?
This is no time for dick sizing. Enjoy the music...if you like it.
If you don't, then you know what to do.
