  • What kind of Components are installed in the front and rear and what amp are powering them? It sounds amazing!

  • @palmer307 There's actually a detailed 3 part blog about the entire system in the Crutchfield "Know Zone" Simply click the "Research Tab" at the top of the main Crutchfield website and type the title of the blog in the search window: "Laying the Foundation". HTH!--Crutchfield

  • Hey N1 Video.whats the Song called?

  • @David290889 The song in this video is called “Your Steps Alone” by Sokoband. And that’s one of the two core band members that we’re watching in the video! The album is available at Sokoband.com, and it can be heard for free on Spotify. Enjoy!

  • I have a question, i have been looking to buy an alpine radio.

Now i see the CDA-117RI and the CDA-9887R.

both have an imprint module option but i have seen a movie about the usb on the 117 that si terrible. Bad loading speed etc. what i wanted to ask is wich is better in audio quality, the 117RI or the 9887R ? thanks allot . Vince

  • @snotsokken Please accept my apologies for the delayed response. The CDA-9887 model is slightly older and has been discontinued. The CDA-117 model is the most comparable replacement currently available. We have not had widespread complaints about the USB speed on the CDA-117. If your audio files are good quality (minimal compression), the internal DAC of either model will make them sound their absolute best. Feel free to call for additional assistance: 800.315.0030--Crutchfield

  • @crutchfieldtv

Thanks for the info and no problem about the delay,

I am also not always on youtube,

    Vincent

  • Alright. Well it's going in a pretty sedate Honda Accord and it gets slightly louder at highway speeds. I feel pretty confident however I feel as if the imprint will give me the best acoustics. Now let me ask this, is it easier to have the imprint set up AFTER I install the alpine cda, kicker cvx's, infinity kappa four and Polk components OR BEFORE? Not trying to have to unplug and re wire stuff just for imprint.

  • @palmer307 Please accept my apologies for the delayed response. The information for this particular model is a little outdated as both the stereo and the compatible calibration kit have been discontinued. On the latest models, you can add an external Imprint processor and an optional tuning kit. For this option, you can add the Imprint processor but wait to use the tuning kit until all of the components are installed. Feel free to call for additional assistance: 800.315.0030--Crutchfield

  • Hey I'm buying an Alpine CDA 117, possibly from crutchfield, paired with an infinity kappa four to power MM691 coaxials and M6501 components, do you think the IMPRINT is really that necessary with the mic and everything? I heard the CDA 117 is such a stellar radio even without it. I would appreciate expert ideas. I'll also have 2 12" KICKER CVX's in a ported box powered by a 1606D mono amp.

All this powered by an OPTIMA yellow top battery in trunk.

  • @palmer307 Please accept my apologies for the delayed response. Even without the external IMPRINT processor, the CDA-117 model offers robust equalization and digital time correction. If you feel confident in your abilities to adjust these settings yopurself, then the processor is really not necessary. If you want the system to calibrate itself based on the acoustics of your vehicle, then you should get the processor and the tuning kit. Feel free to call for asistance: 800.315.0030--Crutchfield

  • I was wondering, which of Alpine's audio processors will work best with my Pioneer P5000 DVD? I would really like to have the PXA-H800.

  • @puradaj The “PXA-H800” model is one of the few that Alpine offers that can be used with other equipment. Most of the “Imprint” processors are Alpine specific and will not work with anything other than Alpine receivers. The PXA-H800 offers conventional RCA inputs so you can use it with your Pioneer receiver. Feel free to call for additional assistance: 800.315.0030--Crutchfield

  • Thank you very much for the demo. I have an old Sony Mobile ES HU with Dynamic Soundstage Organiser (DSO), and this seems to match the quality of the DSO.

I would like to request a similar demo for Kenwood's KIV units. They have a settings menu for car type, speaker location, etc., which I would assume would be for correcting the soundstage, but there is very little info available on it, only that it's there in the menu. Could you please demo what these settings actually do to the sound?

  • Do you connect the "PXA-H800" with Alpine cable from HU to Processor ?

I mean not with RCA Cables ?

  • @muzXnet At this time, the Alpine “PXA-H800” is a new item and not yet available in our inventory. While Alpine lists this processor for both factory integration and aftermarket stereo applications, they do recommend adding the RUX-C800 controller for display and adjustments. We will have additional information on the Crutchfield website once the PXA-H800 is in stock and available for purchase.--Crutchfield

  • can i do this whit my alpine cda 117

  • @20cias91 You can add the IMPRINT processor (PXA-H100) to your CDA-117. For automatic tuning of the processor in your vehicle, you would also need the KTX-H100 kit. Both products are available on the Crutchfield website. You can also call for additional assistance: 800.315.0030--Crutchfield

  • @hs786uk It is certainly recommended to use any crossovers that came supplied with your component speakers. Install the speakers and crossovers before tuning the IMPRINT processor to your system. Basically, you want the speakers set up the way they were designed before enabling any processors. Feel free to call for assistance: 800.315.0030--Crutchfield

  • I want to keep my 9887, but want to run a processor using an optical interface. So, with that said, the best route Ive come up with is getting an Alpine cda changer with optical out. With the 9887 connected to the cd changer, via AInet, then the changer feeding a pxa-h701 or the h800- when its released- via fiber. Will that work properly?

  • @druzzy03

That should work just fine. Nicely done.

We have the PXA-H800 on order, awaiting word from Alpine.

    Thanks,

  • Will the Ipod classic 160 gb run on this unit?

    tnx

  • @ograhtak

Indeed it will. For full details go to the Crutchfield and search for CDA-9887, click on the radio, then click on "Hands on Research" and scroll down to the iPod compatibility chart. We do this for all our products that work with iPods. It's pretty cool.

  • I was wondering how does this imprint work i just bought the CDA-105 and it has a imprint marking on the faceplate and what all does it do

  • @The96sunfiregt

Here's what is says about IMPRINT on the CDA-105 page on the Crutchfield website, in the "Hands on Research" section:

"Imprint: With the addition of the optional PXA-H100 Imprint box (500PXAH100, sold separately) and KTX-H100 tuning kit (500KTXH100, sold separately) a car's inherent acoustic shortcomings can be overcome with the MultEQ feature. Imprint also gives you much more sound adjustment flexibility..."

Find the CDA-105 on our site for more.

  • sounds like you lost a lot of midrange response with multEQ turned on although it sounded like the imaging was better

  • Go on ebay got one for $250 + free shipping

  • This guy is selling one in my town for $350 should I Get it?

  • I know this may be out of topic but do you know if the Alpine CDA117A can store eq curves like this radio can? Thanks in advance and take care.

  • @FollowThisDream

    Yep it sure can.

Sorry it took so long to get you a response, been quite busy around here lately.

  • Holy cow, what a huuuuge difference. :)

  • MIKE out in the ukon, i have been thinking about getting one of theses. but all the post i have read have not been good. i guess i have to try it for my self and see. most of what i have read is personal opion. and in many cases dont apply to anyone except the person writeing them. how can you go wrong with a 500 band eq. i want one. lol

  • Comment removed

  • @the14u36

Personal opinion aside, you can't argue with the capabilities of IMPRINT. Try it out. With this item you can buy it, use it, return it, and simply pay $50 for using it to set up your system. Pretty sweet deal.

    Hope that helps,

  • This Imprint thing isn't too clear to me yet. I read this is about the advanced sound settings like time correction, advanced filtering, and eq (all not unfamiliar to me). But does that mean this headunit cannot use these without the Imprint processor, unlike the older models that did have it built in? Or can these filters/time corr/eq still be set manually without the processor?

  • @JesseFDB

The CDA-9887 did allow you to manually adjust for time correction, had a built-in 5-band parametric EQ and 7-band graphic EQ, bass and treble, and built-in crossovers. To take advantage of "MultiEQ" you'll either need to take it to a professional Alpine installer or get the Tuning Kit for self installers.

For other Alpine stereos that are compatible, there's a different Imprint module and tuning kit available. Basically, the answer is yes, you need the processor to get IMPRINT.

  • I just bought the CDA 117 and the powerpack KTP 445 but it doesn't sound like this. This sound awesome what is imprint? And Do I have to buy something else to do this?

  • @sasgino20

The CDA-117 is compatible with Alpine's PXA-H100 IMPRINT audio processor and KTX-H100 tuning kit. You can find them both at Crutchfield. Call us to discuss it further.

    Thanks,

  • That sounds amazing with the imprint on. I have an Alpine CDA-9885 in my car now which is basically the same as this but without the imprint EQ. I think I am going to get the CDA-9887 and sell my CDA-9885 because the imprint EQ makes such a big difference!

  • I had imprint tuning done on my CDA-9887 head unit. I upgraded to all alpine speakers and amplifiers, the 2 equalization curves don't sound that good, they both sound like the tweeters are way to high.

  • @caraudioman16

You should always trust your ears, if it doesn't sound right, something needs to change. Did you run the imprint again after replacing your speakers or is it still set up for your old speakers?

If you bought it from Crutchfield, you should talk to our tech support department, their direct number is on your Crutchfield invoice. You can also call us at the number below and we can transfer you to tech support if you don't have your invoice handy.

    800 315 0030

  • @crutchfieldtv I already had all aftermarket speakers installed when the imprint tuning was done.

  • @caraudioman16

Then it sounds like it's time to call Tech Support, see my last comment for info on how to do that.

    CrutchfieldTV

    1-800-315-0030
