  • I had the privilege of briefly meeting Ben in St. Paul, Minnesota on Libera's 2011 US tour. He was very warm and personable and obviously works very hard and continuously to help bring together Libera's amazing performances. I am deeply grateful for all he has given to Libera over the years, along with the many other devoted members of their team. Thank you, Ben!

  • you can actually see ben in 0:21

  • "Tell me where is fancy bred,

Or in the heart, or in the head?

    How begot, how nourishèd?

    Reply, reply.

It is engender’d in the eyes,

    With gazing fed;

and fancy dies, and fancy dies

In the cradle where it lies."

Notice the rhyme with "lead", as she wishes him to ignore the caskets of gold and silver and be led to pick the casket of lead.

  • ben is so talented. this is not ben in the film the real ben is very shy

  • I know Ben sings this on the soundtrack but that has to be an actor lipsinking at 0:21. The boy is way too short to be Ben Crawley.

  • I thought Jocelyn Pook sang this song. Oh well.... who cares? This song is very beautiful. <3

  • I'm played bassanio in the Merchant of Venice once! It was amazing!

  • this song is so lovely and Ben sings it so well! haha, you posted this video a day after my 12 birthday, i just noticed that!

  • It could also mean this:

Where does true love come from?

Is it from the heart or from the head?

What is the cause of love, what feeds it?

    Answer these questions,please.

  • One if my friends was thinking over the lyrics and trying to understand what they might mean. She came to a similar conclusion, but not exactly the same...yours sounds right to me! Thanks!

  • Tell me where is fancy bred

For in the heart or in the head?

    How begat, how nourisheth

The modern way of saying this would be:

Where does true love come from,

Does it come from the head or the heart?

What causes love, what feeds it?

    Please answer my questions.

I studied this film for my GCSE's so I know what I am talking about.

  • Portia is so nervous here: this is finally the guy she wants to see succeed.

  • the one singing is Ben Crawley from libera, he was 16 or 17 here when he sung the song

  • How did he keep his treble at that age? Did he transition later than average or did his voice break and he simply kept his treble? amazing!

  • he just didnt go through his voice change until later in his life.

  • Hi,would it be possible to uppload this verrsion of the song, with this ending....not the soundtrack version....only with a little more space at the end.cheers
