@big4x4mudder He's not that big, okay let me rephrase that. He's not big enough to kick off of an airplane. He had the armrests down, and can buckle the seatbelt. He flies quite a bit (numerous times a week I guess) and he's never had a problem. If you want his side of the story just Google "smodcast southwest" and you'll hear his podcast with his wife, it was done right after he got home. Seriously how cool would it be if you're sitting on an airplane and KS sits next to you.
Now although "what have you been smoking?" was pretty clever on its own, I'm going to push you a little here. You see, I'm convinced you have some kind of cogent argument to contribute. Don't hold back--share it with us!
I'll help by getting you started: Which part is irrational in your mind? Perhaps paying attention to customers? Maybe the part about social media being powerful? Come on now... elaborate!
Although I can see why you came to that conclusion, you're most likely wrong.
Yes, Kevin Smith got an awful lot of press for this story. But look again, and you'll notice that his film received hardly any mention at all.
Say what you wish about Kevin, but he's clearly a smart guy--and a rather adept marketer in his own right. If he had intended to get press for his film, I have a strong suspicion he would have found a better method.
You're quite right. I've never met him before. For the record, I haven't met Tom Cruise or Cyndi Lauper either.
I'm surprised you've never heard of him before, though. I suspect that in this respect you can count yourself amongst a small few. (For what it's worth, he's directed almost 20 films, and been in nearly 30.)
Hey, if it means anything at all, I came back, watched your most recent post here, and it did not give me the same impression. I think the key may your tone. Or less caffeine?
Part of it is just trying to get my feel for video. I'm really more at home writing than in front of a camera--it might take a while to get my bearings in this setting.
@jvorus The problem is they weren't following their own policy in this case. He got both armrests down, and buckled in without an extender, wich is supposed to be thier criteria. Where he passed that criteria his ejection from the flight was unwarranted. They were just being dicks to a fat guy, and clearly this isn't an isolated incident for 'SW fatty-hating airlines'.
Southwest isn't a fatty-hating airline. There are tons of fatties that work for them, including me. They don't hate me. There is one guy on the ramp who spits his tobacco-juice perilously close to your shoe every time you talk to him...they may hate him. I know he was a standby passenger (meaning space-available, not guaranteed until the doors are shut) on that particular flight and he had two paid seats on the next flight for himself. Who knows what happened for sure? Except those involved.
@Manta8ray Apply a little logic and understanding of human behavior. Kevin Smith was the one who made this incident public, and he wouldn't have suffered the embarrassment of doing so if SW hadn't been legitimately in the wrong.
hmm, i gotta agree that if a person is too fat and he's body requires 2 seats, they have to charge for 2 seats. But Kevin Smith ? He's not that fat for god sake.
0:27 "I don't know what motivated the crew to make that decision..." How about the fact that Smith himself has referred to himself as morbidly obese. What's the mystery?
Of course he did. He was humiliated and he's in self-defense mode. He's also in horrible denial of his condition. The pilot is the judge of who's too fat to fly - not the passenger.
As I noted in the video, I'm not really prepared to discuss that part of the issue effectively. I don't have all the details, nor am I sufficiently educated on the topic to speak intelligently on it.
What I'm commenting on is the way that the situation was addressed, and the associated fallout for the Southwest brand. It strikes me that they made a clumsy call and have fumbled since then. Meanwhile, the negative press associated with this blunder continues.
Has Kevin Smith gained alot of weight? Last time I saw him he was not that big.

Kevin Smith didn't direct Fanboys, as you show in the clip, he's IN the movie along with Jason Mewes but only a cameo.

@disobediance Yes, I believe someone else noted that as well. It was an error on my part.

Oh! Come on. You probably never meet this man before.
By the way,
before this incident, I had never heard of this person. Peace.

Am I suppose to be impressed (20 films & 30 films)? Because I'm not.
There's another life besides the Movie Industry. I don't do movies (for the most part). Personally, I prefer to read a good Novel.
I do do Old Movies though, you know, back when they routinely made movie of 'Quality', before they had to start rating them. Peace

Dude, policies are policies. The guy is a little to big. If you know that you can't fit in a standard size seat then purchase another.

Kevin stated that he was seated comfortably, with the seatbelt fastened and armrests lowered.
