  • Considering a 'case study' as a sample is a serious error, mostly committed by positivist mindset. Case study is a not a 'datum', and it is not a sample, which is required to generalize over a universe. Case study generalizes to a theory and there are many situations where a 'single case study' is higly reliable, and if the case is properly defined, a few good case studies can result in very solid conclusions based on deep insights of a phenomena, not achievable by other methods.

  • @salman125 See my video on sampling and you will see that a case study does fit the definition. However, a case study is a sample that is small and usually not representative.

  • @salman125 See my video on reliability and you will see that some forms of reliability can apply to a case study, and others would not. However, I do agree that some case studies can provide very rich data in terms of illustrative power.

  • @salman125 OK, most case studies are inherently qualitative and vulnerable to subjective biases.
