  • @toumzaa, yes, in the dry season it is like that. Now it is more like Three Holes! 55555

  • @Udonthani3750

Thanks for Information . I ve never been there.

At Kaeng Tana Rapids are nearly same looking holes in the Rocks.

It is closely before mun - river meets mekong.

    Best regards !

  • @gongylus, I have been to the area where the Mun meets the Mekong, and the water has two colours. It is called Menam Song Si (River Two Colours). There is a nice wat near the site, and an even more important one above the hill at this place. Thanks for the information about the Kaeng Tana Rapids. I might try to visit that place next year.

  • Is this video made at rapids of Kaeng Tana NP close to Long Chiam ?

    Reminds me a lot !

  • @gongylus, thanks. This video was made at Saam Paan Bot, in Ubon Province, around 7 April 2009. At this time of year, the water is too high from the rains to see the scenery. During Songkran you might be able to walk across the river to Laos.

  • Is this Video made at Kaeng Tana Rapids ( NP ) close to Kong Chiam?

Reminds me a lot to this place.

  • I m so admire with all her music so beautiful, tai looking solovely, thanks never enough for me to watching her video,

  • @tphetlakhone123, thanks for your touching remarks Toni. Tai is indeed one of the great performers in the world.

  • @tvhavan, thanks for the heads up. She will also be coming to Toronto, Canada on 23 October, and she just appeared at a live a free tv show in Korat, Thailand along with Tukatan Chollada on 21 August.

  • @Udonthani3750 I can't wait to see her on stage sing. She's the only singer that I think keep me relax and in good mood during stressful time.

  • @tvhavan, have a great time at the concert. I agree that listening to Tai can remove one's stress, and provide a relaxing atmosphere.

  • Tai is sooo gorgeous!!

  • @88OneS, thanks for the comment, which is sooo true.

  • @tonibabydoll1063, thanks for sharing your thoughts Toni. This is such a great song and video. I showed it to my university class this past week. It was their first experience of Isaan culture. What better way to start an introduction to Isaan than with Tai Oratai?!?

  • I miss my music so bad I m so happy to be back thanks ,

  • @tonibabydoll1063, I am really glad that you are back. You are a great contributor, and you really love and appreciate Thai/Lao/Isaan culture.

  • @nikita12326, thanks. I did not get all of that, but I agree with you that both Tai and Tukatan are very popular. Tukatan has a new vcd album, which is a collection of 'love' songs. These are songs taken from previous albums.

  • also all her dancer they are amazing excellent so solf all of them the same they very good dancing the hold body the hand amazing . looked tai she dance so solf ,

  • @ToniDoll63, oh yes, the dancers are great, in particular, Tai. However, the men and women who dance are also excellent. You cannot beat a Tai Oratai video when she is dancing to traditional songs.

  • even if I listen too many singer although I love so much every singer however I still come back listening and tai oratai she make me to be fascinated by her voice I falling love with her voice and her music, thanks again

  • @ToniDoll63, your remarks are very perceptive and thoughtful. Many posters agree with you that Tai is the best for dancing, singing and everything. She is a good lady who remembers who past well. Yes, I can watch her video all day long to and want more and more. 55555

  • lol.. can someone tell me what she's saying?!

  • Thanks. Mostly, she is telling listeners about Isaan people and culture. I do not have enough time to do a translation as I am really slow about it. However there is a website that you can ask the members to translate songs for you. I cannot remember it offhand.

  • she is so suay mak mak............!!!!!!

  • Thanks for your remark. Tai is indeed very beautiful and talented. By the way, she has a new cd/vcd available.

  • @Udonthani3750, the new cd/dvd is it about lum or someting else ? I would love to watch it.

  • @Laowest, thanks for your question. No, this album is not mor lum; however, it has a lot of very good songs.

  • คุณค่าของหมอลำ

    ต่ายรักษาไว้ให้ได้นะคับ

    สวยมากกคับ

    สู้ๆ

  • Thanks for your comment. I agree that Tai should be admired for keeping Isaan culture alive, and for promoting it to a wider audience. If possible, you should visit this area in the dry season. It is spectacular.

  • I'm heading there soon - I can't wait to get back...it's my second home.

  • Have a wonderful time. Will you be going to Ubon, Isaan?

  • I'm so proud to be E-San :D thank u

  • You should be proud. Isaan people are courteous, friendly, kind, and have a rich culture, history and heritage. You gotta love it!

  • A great Song , i love Isaan lam plern, She dance very nice. I love this song and all song from her very much .I miss thailand and tai Orathai

  • Thanks for your very nice comments. Tai is an excellent performer in all ways. Do you know that Tai released a new cd album on 24 Feb. It is excellent. I am looking forward to the vcd, which has yet to be released.

  • I listen watching tai right now I can not get away she so sweet voice yes bob me and her from ubon. but I m not lucky like her. I can not sing. thanks bob. love tai a lot.

  • she it the best about dancing about sweet voice .and she lovely too. she came to USA people love her a lot.

  • Thank you ToniDoll. And Tai is from Ubon just like you! Yes, Tai is a superb singer and dancer, also, she is very beautiful. I like the way that she can make her songs popular in Thailand and Laos and other countries around the world. In this regard, she is a very important singer.

  • Tai is the best. i have not met her yet but know I will in future. I am from US but am in Issan alot. My heart is there always. All I listen to for years is Morlam luftung and have met Sirioporn at her concerts. Hope to meet you soon Tai.. Paul

  • Thanks for your comments Paul, they are appreciated. You are fortunate to have met Siriporn, and like you, I would like to meet Tai some day. I really want to see one of her concerts. Isaan is a great place to be.

  • Hi, thanks for getting back to me. do you spend alot of time in udon? my good friends play in band at yellowbird. i am wondering how i can get involved with promoting musicians and music. any ideas

  • I am not sure what to do in Udonthani for promoting musicians. The son of my very good friend is in a band promoted by Yamaha. It came first, playing heavy metal, in the Yamaha contest for Isaan held at Khorat in October. He also won first prize for classical guitar.

They will go to Bangkok in a few months for the all-Thailand competition.

If you mean promoting Thai bands like this in Thailand, you can contact Yamaha in Udon. Let me know and I can get a phone number for you.

  • she has very nice voice,it seem better then the original lum by banyanh or angranag don't guite member.

  • Thank you for your comment. I did not know anyone else had sung this song. Everything about it is impressive: the song itself, the scenery, Tai's voice, the dancing and the clothing.

  • her voice and singing style is amazing,I listen to all her music. not to mention the most beautiful artis

    out there.

  • It is difficult to disagree with anything you said. Thanks for the comment. Tai Oratai is amazing...and beautiful.

  • - Ms.Tai Oratai is from BanKumSaenChani, Pornsawan, Nachaluay, Ubonrachatani, Thailand.

    - The place where the music video was taped is at "Sarm Phan Bok"(สามพันโบก), (in summer), ( in the middle of) Mae Khong River, Posai, Ubonrachatani, Thailand. (สามพันโบก อ.โพธิ์ไทร จังหวัดอุบลราชธานี)

    - It was taped in summer when there's less water so you can see a lot of rocks.

  • Thanks for that very useful information. I visited there this past summer but there was too much water so one could only see 3 bots, not 3,000. 55555

Nevertheless, the area is beautiful, and I am glad to see that Tai is promoting the area, and culture, through her songs and dance.

  • I did not know that Lao was a royal language used at the court. I really hope that I have not mis-read your statements because I feel they are very meaningful to you and others. Thanks.

  • I love this Essan Lum Plern so much.

  • Thanks. The lum sung and danced by Tai is wonderful. I am intrigued by it, and I really love this song a lot. It inspired me to visit the area in which it was performed.

  • This is the song that inspired me to visit this area. Some of the other songs on the vcd were filmed at the Phra Taek National Park.

That park is very special as it contains some of the oldest writings/drawings in the world.

The clothes, the dancing, the singing, the scenery are all so wonderful.

    Thanks again for your comments.

  • Yes, the Phra Taek National Park has national beautiful views. I am sure not only many Issan people love this part, but also do very eminent Issan leaders such Mr. Adisone Piengket and Sutin Khamsang. I am sure that both of whom love listening Mor Lum and playing Kaen which is the symbolically heartened important instrument of their life. Long-lived Lao Issan people!

  • I am sure the gentlemen you mentioned will be pleased with the mor-lam and the scenery, which is spectacular.

It rained much of the time I was there; however, I still spent over three hours in the park much of which was hiking up and down the cliffs to visit the petroglyphs and to see the unique land formations. I would highly recommend people to visit this park.

  • I love all her songs. Especially this one. I love all her outfits too.

  • Yes, I agree with you. Her outfits are impressive as is her singing, and this song is really outstanding.

  • Udonthani3750,it could happened,the possibilities are endless....

  • Possibly, and it was certainly the dream of Pol Pot, Lon Nol and Sihanouk to recover the glory of Angkor, but very unlikely that it will ever happen. Well, it is true that they never mentioned Tai Oratai! I know you are having fun, and I take it in that spirit, but be polite to Thai ladies please.

It will be great to see Cambodia progress and improve to equal that of other ASEAN states.

  • Louk kao Nieow-Pau Khaen louk lahn lao

  • Yes, a child of kao nieow and of the Lao. Very nicely put.

  • If we ever conquered thailand, you boys can keep the treasure, the gold, the silver, the money, the loot, the land, the queen, the princess and every other thai bitches. But bring Tai Oratai to me...

  • This is a funny comment, and it will never happen. 55555

Tai is special alright and so are the other Thai/Lao/Isaan ladies.

  • yes, Tai is a very special person indeed. Lao/Issan and Thai all have very rich culture.

  • I hope that she continues to perform the Lao lum (Isaan morlam), as she can do it so well. Tai is a wonderful ambassador linking Lao/Isaan and its culture to Thailand and many communities around the world.

  • Not only can she be a musical ambassadorial singer representing for a Mor Lum, but she has been tremendously able to elevate the status of the Mor Lum of Lao and Issan people to an unprecedented level, which has become quite more broadly recognized in society. Can anyone remember in the past about listenning Mor Lum? Listening Mor Lum in the past was categorically characterized as destitute rural and uneducated people known as Kon Ban Nok? I was one of the people that had been insulted by.

  • I am so glad those bad days have, for the most part, passed, and that Lao culture is appreciated by many thanks in large part to entertainers like Tai who can bring the culture into the mainstream. Chaiyo for Tai Oratai!!!

  • Not only is she a special singer, but she's been able to elevate the status of Morlum to the pillarized unprecedented level. Durng my trip to visit relatives in Ubon, I would like to impart with you what they said to me, "my son we didn't have anything to dine you, but we cooked Koy, Larp and Bamboo soup " that your paternal and maternal grandfathers and mothers have inculcated us. They turned on Tai' s Morlum during a dinner. My tear instantaneously dropped on my face. Long-lived Lao-Issan!

  • What a great comment! It is so touching too. It is interesting how culture, and its performance, can touch us in such a heartfelt way.

When I went to a internet cafe one evening in Ubon Ratchathani, the owner called his family members over to view...right...Tai Oratai performing this song. Long live Lao-Isaan culture...morlam (lum), lukthung. I wish Tai could read some of your comments, I am sure she would be touched by the sentiments expressed.

  • During my trip to visit relatives in Warincharap, I am sure that you know about the floating restaurants on Mun River, most of which had turned on Ms. Tai Oratai's songs and morlums. I would say it was the finest moment in my life. I believe you had gone to have lunch or dine at the floating restaurants on the Mun River in Warincharap, Ubon. You can also see Dok Kun flowers on the bank of the Mun River, which are so beautiful indeed.

  • No, I did not know about the floating restaurants on the Mun River. I will go to Ubon and Warincharap next summer and eat at those restaurants.

I did go to floating restaurants in Loei Province, and went to a restaurant just outside of Sakhon Nakhon wherein one had to walk along very thin planks in a village to get to a small straw-made restaurant. Both of these restaurants were memorable. I have not come across anything like this in Canada.

  • I'm happy for you. I bet you have the best of time.

  • It was great! Thanks.

  • I still have problem with this song is this a karakoke version no singing just the music well maybe my iPhone can't download it

  • Hi! It is a vcd, karaoke version, but it includes the singing as well as the instruments in the background. Maybe you are correct that the iPhone cannot download it. I know nothing about that process at all.

For myself and others, we can hear Tai singing.

  • Every time I listen to Lum, I'm home sick. อด คิด เถิงบ้าน ไม่ได้.

  • I sympathise with you.

Every time I see and listen to this video I want to go back to Isaan, and visit this area at Songkran.

  • No wording again what is going on here only instrumental?? I want to listen to the whole song

  • Hi! Maybe youtube had a technical problem for awhile. I can hear it fine. If it happens again, maybe you can ask youtube to see what is wrong although they might be slow to answer. Sorry about that as it must be frustrating for you.

  • i want to thank you for translating most of the song names. it helps my understanding much better. khob khub lai lai

  • Thanks for that nice comment. Remember that I am not fluent in Thai; however, I can read most of the words. Nevertheless, I do make mistakes as some people have pointed out.

  • All Issan people and Lao people in Laos and Lao in abroad should be so delightfully proud of their very unique traditional Mor Lum because it is so unique that you can not find in other countries except in Laos and Issan. To let you know, one of American scholars residing in New England, USA, wrote a Ph.D dissertation with the assistance of Master Mor Lum Ai Lao who reside in Rode Island. Long-lived Lao-Issan. So proud of being Lao-Issan and Lao person and Lao-American.
