I was at school with Jimmy when he had a band called Nick and the Sinners. I used to hung around the beer cellar they rehearsed in at the back of his dad's pub. I recall that he took time out to give me my first ever guitar lesson-C,F and G. Later I entered a local talent competition in Dunbar with the band I took up with. Jimmy's band was the main entertainment and he let us use their fancy gear...vox amps and sure mics! A Whistler won! Jimmy is a kind guy and always gave folks the time of day
I know jim.....i have pictures with him at his home in 82 in twickingham...he was a good guy...When your in the bizz, people can be jerks on any given day. Yes drugs were a bad thing...He told me "coke is a expensive hobby"...He treated me very well!
We partyed till 4 every morning...Fun times folks..Burning bridges in this bizz in common place...Win some, lose some...
Never heard Jimmys side of things. I kind of have to believe him, The same shit happened to Bob Daisley. 2 of my favorite bassists treated like shit. Those early Dio albums wouldnt sound the same without Bain's Powerful rumbling bass lines.
ronnie has always made the concept clear that dio was a band and not solo albums reguardless of what happened with viv and all that shit i still think hes delusional ronnie ran a good ship
Does anybody remember a group called 'CHOKER' that Jimmy Bain played bass in along with Roddy Mackenzie (of CODY) back in 1973-75?
I have an acetate but that's about it as far as releases for the group go...

I've read a few interviews about Bain and his junkie years - apparently he was a rude arrogant arsehole. I know Phil Lynott's mum hates him.

Because JB was a JUNKIE and that caused a problem with the bands performance, he got fired, and rightly so.

Not delusional at all. Jimmy Bain's account of the early Dio days backs up what Vivian Campbell has said.
