Chrysler ran magazine advertising (End of the road for the Do- It Yourself Kit) for a 1971 Challenger T/A before Chrysler pulled out from SCCA Trans-Am road racing. Although one promotional 1971 T/A was falsely rumored to have been built, the car in the advertisement was a graphic artist's depiction of the proposed 1971 Challenger T/A. Chrysler denied that any 1971 Challenger T/A's slipped out the back door because none were ever built.
