  • havent scrolled back that far into the comments but if im not mistaken peter was the lead singer for bauhaus before his solo career-i remember that haunting performance they did in that vampire movie the hunger with david bowie, catherine deneuve and susan sarandon

  • Indigo is the color of the deep midnight sky. YES.

  • We all know someone we once put this on a mixed tape to in the 80s.

  • Just when I thought I had heard every beautiful song there is, I discover this gem. Another song that changed my life...again :-)

  • Baita som!!

  • Such an elegant voice, brings to mind this performance from the Thompson Twins in 1983:

Thompson Twins - If You Were Here (Live in Liverpool)

  • So beautiful!

  • His voice will NEVER get old... incredibly soulful, this album.. got me through some times!!

  • Absolutely sublime.

  • Remember I was here.Thai 6:36AM 10/21/2011

  • Classic.

  • Got see him years ago, he opened for NIN! When no one ever even heard of them....Peter was awesome....and I really liked NIN too, but we mainly went there for Peter

  • @oldpunkster i'd have went for Peter and left before NIN.

  • Wow! I'm so grateful for the internet and places like YouTube that have given me endless delight in rediscovering some of these incredible songs, real gems from a very fun but not horribly distant past. Very cool tunes here, achingly absent in this day of R&B and rap/hiphop drivel.

  • awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Peter is one of the most frenetic live performers around. He is like a live wire on stage.

  • Excellent song, Peter Murphy was a real gothic singer

  • @qotsa18 - I think he invented gothic, Bauhaus was certainly there at the beginning.

  • If you like this check out his first solo LP (If the World Should Fail to Fall Aparrt). I like it better than this one but this one is good too.

  • @sqwuade Case in point; check out "Never Man" on YouTube (From If the World Should Fail to Fall Apart LP) - Amazing song and production! It's actually a cover of an old Pere Ubu song I believe.

  • post-punk & new wave !

  • by the power vested in me by the holy church of lizard king Jim Morrison i pronounce awsome

  • WTF I woke up with this super gay song stuck in my head

  • MI FAVORITA ......

  • Love Hysteria simply captivated me - Quite a break from the Bauhaus Neo-Goth. I fell in love with it when it first hit the record bins....Very beautiful.

  • Peter Murphy's best song...never did stuff this good with Bauhaus

  • My very favourite Pete Murphy song.

  • Indigo Eyes is a song that makes me remember my grandfather.Playing in my mind is a video full of fond memories of my grand father. From the kind, quiet demeanor to the description of his rough, dry hands...Insane? no, just misunderstood by most...Thank you Peter Murphy.....

  • bauhaus!! !:D

  • This song still sound so fantastic on ancient vinyl and a 30 year old mid-grade turntable. Thanks for the inspiration to get it out.

  • So magical and mystical!!!

  • Yep, the best of the best

  • THE 98 VERSION OF THIS IS GREAT, VERY DARK,DEEPER VOCAL.

  • The hyped up singers who win the Grammy's and sell the billions of cds have NOTHING on Peter Murphy. His talent eclipses ALL of them. He is woefully underrated and under appreciated! He has a NEW CD coming out June 7th called "Ninth" Go to Amazon NOW and pre order it!! I did :)

  • @krallstello, AMEN. Peter Murphy is indeed an artist that deserves much more recognition. He is one of those artists/musicians that has a positive effect on the stream of consciousness for many beings.

  • great music

  • Es un tema que me hace volar dentro de mi conciencia , gracias Peter

  • WOW @ this tune. I have just realized that people have no idea what's out there. Absolutely brilliant from every angle.

  • @littleboeep

Wow. Such great bands and great memories, though for me it was Salt Lake during the 80s. A few others for you would be Julian Cope, Midnight Oil, HooDoo Gurus, Mr. Mister....

  • @littleboeep The 80s - the best decade for pop music ever!

  • Peter Murphy does perfectly what most artists can't do at all.

  • "Orphie in some thunderworld"? Wasn't it Orpheus in the Underworld? Whatever, great piece by Murphy, so lovely and moody

  • I was at a summer festival and never heard about Peter Murphy. My head instinctively turned, to see whose voice was that... I will never forget that moment. He was dressed as a turkish king.

  • [] ( @ N

  • I loved this song so much growing up I couldn't hear it enough times on the radio!

  • Nothing like playing this song after a crap fulled day. It always brightens me up. Youtube is like a personal Juke Box. Whatever melody or rhythm would run thru our brain, we can call it up on this site. How fricken Sweet/\

  • Ohhh this song is one of the best new wave song that I have listened.

I only am 23 years old and I know about this 80´s music by electronic remember sessions, and I have listened Peter Murphy only in remember sessions by internet.

It´s fantastic and a perfect voice and melody, maybe the best voice in the gothic rock, new wave and sinthe pop.

Best regards from Spain, and this song is one of the best together This is a Seagul (Snake Corps) or Nowhere girl (B-Movi), etcetera.

  • I have the indigo vinyl somewhere.

  • brilliance!

  • conduciendo coche sin capote no?y la vida hacia delante.....................

  • ESTUPENDOS,¡¡¡¡¡¡¡ DESDE VALENCIA. MUCHOS RECUERDOS. SEJO,,

  • This song sure ain't like Bauhaus lol, it's strangely plesant and sweet...

  • Sophisticated lyrics that makes it practically imposible for a homie or a hoe to understand. Talent at its best, with band or solo.

  • Great song !!

  • lovely song, gorgeous man!

  • i missed the 80s....i miss being young again, i miss being in good health, i miss my kids being small again....so many regrets.....

  • @sosidecop64 i just just wish i'd been born then. i'm only 14, i missed such a great decade...

  • Comment removed

  • @sosidecop64 beautifully and sweetly said. the phenomena of the past and reflection.....so romantic and dramatic.

  • I personally consider this to be one of the duller tracks on Love Hysteria. It's a nice melody but it has that bland Roxy Music circa 1980 production feel about it. Probably his best solo LP, although I've been listening to Dust on YouTube and have just ordered a copy and apart from a musically excellent version of My last two weeks, which Murphy all but ruins with totally over the top vocals, that sounds like a superb LP.

  • love love love love love love this song!

  • does anyone know the title of the Peter Murphy song that includes the lyrics "the moon and the sun, partners in light"? I had a bootleg tape of it off the air, from the DC underground FM station WHFS, but can't find it now -- it had sort of alchemical lyrics and a nice feedbacky-guitar instrumental break - please help me find it!

  • @SupernalOne The song is "Seven veils" off the "Deep" album.

  • @SupernalOne The DC underground WHFS??? Oh now THAT brings back memories....I'm from Baltimore! Listened all of the time in the 80's...now I have that Bug In My Head! I'll ask around...or it will pop in my head! Hope I can help!

  • Such a beautiful song...

  • i missed the 80s so much

  • @sosidecop64 Tell me about it....

  • Vox sound like greenday lol

  • He's a cross between Bowie and Ferry. Good stuff!!

  • This is when you know your talented. This song makes me feel like the sky isnt even the limit. What a beautiful song. Thanks Peter.

  • The best music the best times the best groups...

  • LMFAO!!!! Good call.

  • i wish a current band would step up and cover this song. its reaks of new wave, but i can't think of band who can do it justice now

  • NAH

  • this is a lovely song. Thanks for posting it. Does anybody have Seven Veils by Peter Murphy, that they might post? That one is nice as well, with a real mystic-anthemic quality and a nice on-the-verge-of-feedback guitar passage -

  • Jesus christ, you are a complete loser if you are posting comments about "shit". Why do bother? I know. You have no life. Find a hobby.

  • Oh my...

I would have to RUN AWAY from 'hands' like that, even Peter Murphy's!

    : )

  • Ha.... funny... touche'

  • Haha yeah I bought the LP a month ago, and finally took it out the other day, had a real look and was like... wtf were they thinking when they made this album. Awful colors and a humongous hand.

  • Yeah, its a great LP but the artwork sucks.

  • Happy Birthday, Peter.

  • yes! Sorry..Highline Ballroom!!! Tonight he is in PA!

  • Saw him at the Ballroom in NY -7/6th! Awsome show! He sang everything I could wish for and loved his NEW SONGS! Loved his voice beautiful voice and moves! ONE THING I HAVE TO MENTION! There was a little boy around 8 years old there with his parents in the front row (next to me). I thought that was the coolest thing. He thanked the little boy and his parents and GAVE THE BOY his KEYBOARD! He was truely great to us last night! His performance, energy, emotions, and his connection to his fans!

  • Highline Ballroom?

  • ha,... now we're talkin,...wow.. I was all about this one for sure,...

  • So tell us how was your last commercial record recieved? Nah, didn't think so ... Small people inhabit small minded worlds ... where they are 'rock gods'. The open minded have no option but to put up with them ...

  • Magnificent words and incredible music. Makes me dream away.

  • Impresionante canción!!

  • I agree. His lyrics have the intricacy of poetry. Such a great voice as well.
