My experience in recovery from bulimia has led me to see how a person's relationship with food is indicative of many other aspects of her or his life. Recovery takes years, and is a process, but in the same way that spiritual growth and self awareness are processes. Healing happens. Knowing oneself is key, as is learning to honor and trust whomever that turns out to be. Being aware of one's needs, both physical and emotional, and recognizing the difference between the two is life changing.
this may sound like an obvious question: Leija when you say being your true authentic self, that is assuming that every true authentic self is loving and good?
This really helps! Thank you so much! I have "binge eating disorder" and recently set out to conquer it. Apart from 2 books, I have not found any advice on it except for this video.
I would really really love to hear more about your views on the conventional education system! This issue isn't spoken about enough! I'm one of those early-20's people you mentioned and just realizing the possibilities of the world. If you ever feel like making a video on the subject, I would love to watch it. :] Thank you for your insight!
i see what your saying, but what about tasty foods that we just cant stop craving, how do you say no to them ? i find that i have a craving for something sweet the best thing to do is have a banana or some dates, good food but sweet, what do you think ?
But what if you honestly enjoy the school system, and getting a degree is more to you than just trying to "be somebody." You seem to be degrading conventional education which happen to enjoy and would not rather be doing anything else.
@Arctandem All I'm implying here is that the conventional education system does NOT give us all our options & it's not for a lot of people. If there's a desire to be a nurse, school teacher, or cop for ex. & that is your passion, that's FANTASTIC & I say go for it! My issue (well one of them) is that the education system isn't holistic- Spirituality is completely ignored & imo, it's the most important subject!!! Kids aren't taught about their alternatives. For example, I had no idea back in...
@LeijaTurunen I do agree that post secondary education really is the "thing to do" these days, and that there are a lot of people at university who really shouldn't be there. But from experience I know that University has probably been the best time for self-discovery I've ever had. I ran head first into University not knowing shit from putty, and only after 2 years am I exactly where i want to be. But I wouldn't change it for anything because I have learnt more about myself than i ever have.
@LeijaTurunen Also, as a government institution, public schooling needs to be secular, lest someone make a complaint. And frankly I'm satisfied that's the way it was. Spirituality should be a personal thing, to be explored on your own, rather than thrust in your face by some teacher.
@Arctandem public & high school that I could be doing what I'm doing now. When you have an understanding of the agendas on this planet, it makes sense why they wouldn't want us to know about our other options, learn about the power of our intuition & spiritual self because that means rebellion. If spirituality & intuition was nurtured, we'd collectively see through the bullshit. Anyway, that's a whole other topic- One I don't feel the need to get into unless you're on the same wavelength. Cheers
@LeijaTurunen Well I don't know exactly the "wavelength" you are talking about, but I'm one of the philosophy of "I wish the human race would stop bickering over pointless shit and work together so we can go to Mars" kind of deal. High school is bullshit but I think our concurring view is the result of different experiences. Personally its the inadequate and time consuming approach to education in high school that is so BS. University is an entirely different. A sort of collaborative enterprise.
@Arctandem BTW, I could go on about how so much of what students are learning in their colleges and universities are either complete lies and/ or extremely...SICK!!! The brain washing that goes on in medical schools is just... WOW!!! Don't even get me started on conventional medical science, aka BIG BIZZZZ!!!! :S So many of my clients come to see me because they are sick and tired from their doctor prescribing them all these drugs and/ or having no idea what's going on with them!!!
@LeijaTurunen Great video L, thank you for your smashing perspectives on tings. I'm one who practices practicing the appereciation of all, and I appreciate the different perspectives on it, but generally pour moi..school certainly was a very, very, very long winded dull coloured prison for boredom, discord, fiction and pushy limitation...However, I did learn something extremely important: Forced growth makes rather tasteless fruit. ;)
IMHO entheogens are among the most powerful and useful tools we have in deconditioning all that brainwashing and to clear our perceptions , but of course there are many effective tools for us grasshopping types
Oh, you must get lots of comments, but it´s true. listening to our inner self. i´ve noticed that lately, and listening REALLY listening myself took a while and then I had enoug. 3 weeks ago, i quit my job (actually at the moment im on sick leave) and I´m planning to quit my job complitely because it´s not for me at all. I´ve started to see things so totally differently than ever before and I just know that whatever I choose to do, it happens for a reason. <3 and I feel free! blessings.
Thanks for this video, Leija! It has made me realize how I have been trying to suppress my feelings with food wich isn't healthy for me. I'm just trying to understand how to face my feelings, but I must say it is really hard from time to time.
I think that a lot of "emotional " eating is unidentified drug addiction......because most junk foods contain high quantities of opioid peptides and betacarbolines in them which lead to the same addiction as heroine....i.e. If a person is addiction to dairy products, which are very high in opioid peptides, then it's exactly that which the person's brain is craving.......and opiates lift one's mood. People don't emotionally binge on broccoli or lettuce. The cause is chemical
This is awesome. ^-^ My aunt actually used the "go for a walk and see if you still feel like it" method to quit smoking. It was twice as effective, because she'd come back having trouble breathing, and remember just how much she really wanted to change that habit.
I love how you casually go into saying the truth, which is the conformity of the brainwashing educational systems. Im 17 junior year. Cant stand highchool, and ovbiously i see the flaws. I am gunna be a star one day ^^ haha
I want to manifest more people like you and Felipe into my life. I want more positive thinking, happy, energetic beings surrounding me. Sometimes it's hard straying from mainstream thinking, but then again it's a lot more fun!
I felt strongly about the gray shoehorning element of the college system, and deprogrammed myself in the mid- to late 90s. I just had to believe that I know better about this than my parents, my girlfriends' parents, EVERYONE.
Two drops out of college and a destroyed relationship (partly over this) later, it was still worth it. It's a bit gratifying to see that since then more and more people are realizing that college isn't the end-all, and for many it's just a colossal waste of time.
I always eat when I'm bored or when I get home from school i'll pretty much mindlessly eat the whole cupboard. Thanks for the suggestions, I will think of them next time I feel the need to eat everything.

I've just finished my first year in college and have realized I've wasted an entire year. And the only reason I decided to go to college was because I didn't know what else to do, so I just went with what was expected of me. But now, I'm realizing this path isn't for me, but now what? Thank you so much for making this video. I really appreciate your honesty by sharing your personal experience with emotional eating. You are so beautiful inside and out. I'm so glad I found you on youtube!
What stopped me overeating was when I found out that I never felt good enough. In my appearance or who I was as a person. Now I keep telling myself that I AM ENOUGH so I don't need anymore.
Hey! Im in London and your videos usually reach me around the morning time. I love to listen to them whilst I'm typing at work, they are so inspirational. I look forward to your videos. Thanks :)
Mom helped me figure out that we are gluten intolerant! In about a month of gluten free eating, I feel like a different person. Even my sugar cravings have gone down a lot. I still eat when I'm bored, but I find that 1-eating full meals instead of snacking all day helps and 2-get moving and keep busy! Sometimes I have too much time on my hands :)

A huge Wave of Love in your direction... I so enjoy what you choose to share with the world... I see World class transformation as a real possibility and on the personal level... Love and thank you, for giving some more insights to my own (almost gone) emotional eating
Beautiful! Just thank you so much! Even if we know all this things we always need somebody to remind us to stay connected. Thank you for staying connected with us! :)
Oh Leija!!! I love you so much and I need you so much! :))) Because this video it`s loke you did it for me! I have months struggling with eating good food. I gave up coffee first and I felt great and then I tried to become a vegetarian but I couldn`t and I got like 5 kg more because of eating a lot of bread and rice...And now I try to eat healthy and lose some weight and the more I think about it ...well I t6hink you understand what I mean....
Yeah EFT is a great energy healing technique. You can learn it for free and can do it on your own. I have gotten rid of lots of emotion blocks using it. Another great video Leija. :)
@starseedawakenings Absolutely! I share this technique with all of my clients. It may seem silly to some, but it really can help a lot! I encourage people to give it a try! :)
Very helpful. Thanks for sharing.

A huge Wave of Love in your direction... I so enjoy what you choose to share with the world... I see World class transformation as a real possibility and on the personal level... Love and thank you, for giving some more insights to my own (almost gone) emotional eating
