  • Can you even get the fiber from the flaxseed if it isn't ground up? I thought that the whole seed itself usually cannot be digested in any way cos the husks is made up of fiber that our digestive system can't breakdown?

  • All over the world people want to use only natural and environmentally friendly materials like linen and cotton!

  • DO NOT BUY already ground flax ! ! It will be RANCID ! Only eat if you grind yourself as you need it. Do not expose flax to heat or it will be robbed of all its benefits. Drink plenty of water for every tablespoon of ground flax-it needs to hydrate and gelatinize.

  • Flaxseed is safe to eat and has been for several thousand years. Europe doesn't want GMO flax - that's why there was a ban. They'll certainly continue eating flax there. As far as the FDA is concerned, if someone bases their health and lifestyle choices based on their recommendations...all I can say is good luck. What if wheat didn't have GRAS (Generally Regarded as Safe) approval from the FDA - would you stop eating bread?

  • well is she selling the goodness of seeds (that i use every day and put in protein shakes) or is she selling the oil?

  • @omikeyz BOTH

  • Flax seed is banned throughout much of Europe and our FDA will not even grant it G.R.A.S. status (generally regarded as safe). I've read that flax can act as both a vitamin B inhibitor and a thyroid interrupter. A far better and safer option is Chia.

  • I just bought 500 grams of flax meal...paid only under 4.00 canadian for it...Im hoping it will help releave constipation and sooth iritable bowl..

  • Cant I just chew the seeds... isnt that the same as... grinding?

  • @tedoymisojos you probably won't be able to chew flax seeds well enough to crush most of the seed hulls. They will pass through your body undigested. A couple seconds in a coffee grinder, small food processor, or blender is all it takes to grind flax. -- The freshly ground seeds are better than the oil or pre-ground meal, because the seed contain fiber, & the hulls keep the contents fresher longer than is possible for extracted oil or seeds that were ground months ago and packaged.

  • I'm sorry. Did u jus say Estrogen?

  • Put flax seed in coffee grinder

  • this is good stuff

  • flax seed and omega3 gave me nice shiny mane

  • i use flaxseed for brownies

  • I buy the seeds and grind them in a coffee grinder.

  • The freshest way to do it. Keeps the nutrition intact from oxidising. Bulk seeds are really cheap and amazing nutrition! I just got a nudge/inutive hint to eat some, and i was like 'whoa i must need something in them'. Good stuff! Nice sprinkled in a salad or made into dehydrated flax crackers or mixed in with walnut and raisin cookies.

  • hehehe i wish i had a nudge/intuitive hint to eat something my body really needs. Instead I have a hint to eat junk food.

  • sorry about your dental issues.

  • hi, do you know if Arrowhead Mills flax seeds ground or not? I just purchased one and not sure about it

  • I believe you can get them both ground and whole. Sometimes the ground flax seed will be called "flax seed meal". The ground looks real powdery; the whole looks like whole seeds. Store both in the freezer.

  • thanks

then mine are not grounded : (

  • Flax seeds, as with all raw seeds, pass hamelessly through the body. Even if you chew them thoroughly, the worthwhile nutriments are tied up with indigestible raw starch. These foods need processing like grinding and cooking to make them bio available.

The problem of indigestibility also goes with most raw nuts and vegetables. You also need to cook these foods.

  • so what do u mean...flaxseeds are nutritionally worthless unless ground up??

  • The problem is that ALL seeds are designed to pass through animal digestive system untouched. Birds with gizzards are the only animals able to digest seeds.

  • wot if i grind em up? in my grinder??

  • Did you pay any attention to the video?

  • Go for it! They also grind up great in a coffee grinder.

  • @youbeenowned1 - If not ground, they just pass through your body, if you know what I mean.

  • thanks for posting

  • You're welcome! ~R
