  • i've worked with mark on the door's of kings cross back in the early nineties, & let me tell you the man is exceptionally fast for a big guy. and you dont want to be on the receiving end of those hands, elbows & especially the forearms.

  • one word: excellent

  • I like the fact that the wooden dummy has moving arms. Although I would never think of using my hands on the feet, but the rest was interesting and precise. Thank you for the video

  • I wonder how many different styles uses wooden dummies.

  • BRAVO SUPER

  • What's the function of the bar on the top of the dummy?

  • The bar is used to practise to strike/avoid a higher moving target. When the student has learnt the forms basics the drills can help to focus on other defences/attacks.

  • good but move FASTER

  • Yes the aim is to move faster as we practise but this video was only meant as an introduction to the shaolin wooden men of Choy Lee Fut. The form is first drilled slower with emphasis on hand and foot co-ordination with power against the dummy to build calleous on the arms and knuckles

  • Somebody name a specific person he could fight with. Then I can imagine it lol Good Job umm Mark? Keep going I would love to learn this myself. I took wushu but I would like to learn to fight. Jia You!! :D

  • as wc guy...

I totally admire and respect my Choy bros.

wish there were more of the choy vs wc matches like the old days =)

    I miss old sanshou

  • awesome~~

  • Ive seen Mark break a wooden dummy..

we block and punch at the same time

    as our punches are blocks...

if mark hit your arm with his fore arm to

    block a punch...

Smashing your arm is not at all impossible...

  • Un saludo Sifu Mark y feliz navidad y prospero año nuevo

  • every movement looks long and wide why is that dont get me wrong its great video just wondering why every strike is wide wing chun i train in every things short

  • Choy Lee fut is the only Shaoiln style to still have all 18 wooden dummies. The Ching jong is a basic form teaching long and middle distance strikes and blocks. our founder Chan Heurng called them 1st and 2nd gate. There is 3 other dummies that just train the 2nd and 3rd gates=close range and a single wooden dummy teaching close quarter pressure point strikes. CLF moves from long to short and short to long but we start with long to short with all beginners to teach reach and agility

  • Walungma, you seem knowledgeable. In Choy Li Fut, is there any ground work? I know that Kung Fu systems had large emphasis on standing, but are there schools which try and round it even more than it is by adding ground work? Is it a complete system?

  • if by ground work you are referring to sport grappling then, no. because that kind of fighting is not appropriate in an environment where you are fighting multiple armed opponents.

  • @dbyammy Choy lee fut has some specific forms that teach cumla (grappling) and sut da (wrestling) The cum la is all stand up then take down. The sut da fong faart is take downs and on ground joint dislocations/holds. However Choy lee fut such a stand up style that few teachers even know these forms as they were kept in the Chan family. My Teacher Master Chen Yong Fa started to teach this training in the late 90's to a small group of us and we all have scars and torn ligaments to show for it.

  • @wailungma Thank you for your information.

  • as someone who has trained both styles i can say that the range that choy lay fut likes to play in is different than wing chun, and the wide movements hide a lot of non striking applications. the emphasis is on power generation. choy lay fut can be played with a short bridge as well, just like wing chun still works in long distance

  • muy bueno ,gracias

    saludos

  • thanks for the tutorial!!

greetingd to brohers of Hung sing choi li fut.

    saludos

  • Buen trabajo sifu whelan,un saludo desde España

  • Sorry we make all our dummies here in Australia. I know that our Chan family school in finland make all the dummies to sell. Contact them via website. Chan family choy lee fut finland.

  • I pity the dummy that messes with this guy.

  • Whare do you get this Wooden dummy I need that for my school

  • Thanks for sharing this, don't care about ignorants comments

  • Please remember that Kung fu has lasted thousands of years and was developed for actual combat with multiple combatants with the sole purpose of killing. MMA is just a spin on wrestling and kickboxing that lets two guys wrestle until one submits. If you were in an actual fight would you want to end up lying on the ground with all your limbs wrapped around some guy while his friends stamp on your head. Kung fu is intelligent fighting and takes a long time to master.

  • Why do MMA guys search youtube for kung fu videos just to disrespect the practitioners? Kung fu isnt for meat heads who just want to beat someones head in. If kung fu guys had as much fighting experience as professional MMA guys i'm pretty sure they would go along way, they just don't feel the need to. Any fighting techniques would be better than the simple punch and kick of MMA, once the fighter was conditioned to take a beating and keep fighting.

  • aw master mark these fools have no idea. the arm bangs alone would have them submit, and any great fighter needs punching bag work and the wooden dummy takes that training to a hole other level. great work. i cant wait to be as good as you.good video.i do not doubt your expertice.

  • Hi folks, why don't you stop this rubbish and get yourself a decent teacher. I know wailungma (Mark) personally and 1. he is a very good teacher. 2. I would not want to get to him on the wrong side, he is a very good fighter.

and to answer your stupid question why you do dummy training, you want your trainingpartner not hurt. Here you can develope the power and strength. And believe me this form is strong training and for sure no bull shit. I know and practise the form myself.

  • Hey I am happy to exchange techniques with you what is your real name and address and I will be happy to come to meet with you. My face is on the video but you seem to hide behind some bullshit name. Or unless you are writing all of this bullshit from your prison cell after you hacve busted all these jaws. Show your face you coward

  • If your sitting here defending your art thinking its the shis, why don't you sign up for a amateur mma fight and see how you do? It only takes a little bit of paperwork and is very easy to sign up.

    ruckusinthecage(dot)com

Wait, you won't sign up. Because you don't want to get your ass kicked in a actual fight. This stuff may work on a wooden dummy, but it won't work on a actual person.

  • Ok wanker your next I have had many fights amatuer and all the above and I know my skills. I am happy to sign up and see if you can catch a few punches and strikes....Oh I forgot you like the other two hide behind the internet.!!!!!!

You are all young foolish and without a good teacher as you lack of guidance is obvious

  • LOL. Are you kidding me. This would never ever work. This guy would be dropped on his head in a matter of seconds

  • You too Mr nickel add on at the end . Wheres your face and your address I will fly there and drop on your head. Big words but I dont see your video up there??? Or maybe its in your pants

  • Type in my name jackass. Pete Snider and you will see what I do for a living. I am a real fighter, not a jackass messing around with a dummy.

  • I've seen this work in real freestyle combat with my very own eyes. What he is doing here is conditioning his tendons, ligaments so that if he were to hit you, full speed, with any of these techniques, you would be on the ground and any chance of continuing on with your "freestyle" combat would be nill. JawBreaker sounds like in a real fight he' d probably carry a knife because his ego/judgement/arrogance would get in the way of him defending himself with out a weapon.

  • which is why this bullshit has never worked in any form of freestyle combat competition... its because its bullshit you idiots. Why do you think we dont see this bullshit in mma? its perfectly within the rules. its because it doesnt work wow you people are dumb

  • I think overall 'JawBreakerJimmy', you should consider the fact that Kung Fu is the one of the, if not the oldest form of martial art. It has lasted through periods of history much more brutal than our own, when wars were common and killing was a necessary evil.

You may not see what you saw in this video in an MMA fight, but you should not make ignorant comments completely devoid of any study or knowledge of what you are talking about. It is disrespectful. You only degrade yourself.

  • Dummys like the ching jong are training tools, this is not a CLF combat simulation

    Peace

  • Sifu Mark is nothing less then out of this world. Many thanks for this video brother wailungma.

  • Jawbreakerjimmy...

do some research before making very stupid remarks like that.

    I pray for your family.

  • That is cool, but I have a question. What is the bar on top of the dummy used for? I didn't see it used in this video and was curious as to how it comes into play. Thanks

  • the bar is an additional part to some dummies, you would strike it and it will swing around towards your head, to either block or strike depending on the routine. Nice set. good to see something other than wing chun with a dummy

  • try getting into a real fight sometime with that shit

  • I think you've got the wrong idea of this form, this is only a way of training. Come to a real fight with any real CLF instructor and I can ensure you you will get 'that shit' in your face. JawBreakerJimmy will get the Jaw Broken before he's opening his mouth.

  • Mark Wheland es una leyenda del Choy lee fut, desde España, le envio un cordial saludo Sifu.

  • why is there a tarp?

  • Tarp is there to stop the outside distractions when we filmed

  • you have got to be fking shtting me. Stop embarrassing the shat out of urselves posting vids of ur completely useless made up "techniques" if u can even call them that with a strait face

  • Hey man its one thing to know about choy li fut and disagree with the way he performs specific techniques, but that is a choy li fut wooden dummy and those were in fact choy li fut movements. If you dont like the style thats fine but direct your critique at the style, if you know the style and dont like how he does it direct it at him. Be specific jawbreakerjimmy..

  • You are of those few people in the world, who deserves to be as unfortunate as to have the lack of common sense of questioning this legendary CLF Master's skills personally and face to face... And leave with a straight face.

  • JawBreakerJimmy, you are of those few people in the world, who deserves to be as unfortunate as to have the lack of common sense of questioning this legendary CLF Master's skills personally and face to face... And see if YOU can leave with a straight face. Your comment was considerably uncalled for, to say the least...

  • LOL....dude ur so ignorant...if you only knew who he is and what he could fukking do to you...I don't think you would have even the slightest bit of nerve to say that to him within a ten mile radius. LOL....JawBreaker...you seriously need to get a life

  • I think is difficult to find a choy li fut wooden dummy

  • What a beautiful art!

  • where i can get a wooden dummy ?

  • His name is Obama

  • like to see sifufrank hit the bar that hard.

  • excellent choi lei fut!

  • nice one Mark Sifu.........I saw you training Arthur in this dummy form in the Goulburn St gym. You were very descriptive of each move. You know that dummy like the back of your hand..............literally
