As a fellow bittern follower I can appreciate how hard this must have been. Your filming and editing is top notch. To get this close to a bittern and be able to film it quite frankly is breathtaking. I live on the south coast in Sussex and make many trips to Dungeness and have seen bitterns there just once whilst flying. I have seen 3 bitterns on my only trip to Minsmere and no bitterns on about 10 trips to Leighton Moss. People don't realise how lucky they are to watch your wonderful film.
@angelshweet Its becuse the sound the bittern makes is form of infa sound it does not register on computer speakers just headphones from what I can gather so sorry about that
There is just one word needed for commenting on this video - and that's: superb! You are going to make a lot of birders dead jealous with this posting! The people in the hide sharing that encounter with you can count themselves seriously lucky that day!
Brilliant! I always find it amazing how well they blend in with their back ground, amazing!
I'm slightly also jealous that you got such a great view of this bird....hopefully someday I'll finally see one :D

I've both heard and seen them, but I haven't been fortunate enough to observe them making the call. What a beautiful bird!

it would have been even better if it wasnt for the constant nattering from the women in the background.

They never seem keen on moving anywhere fast, do they? Very slow and precise in their movements

This bird is very rare. It's very difficult to film. Only one time I heard it in the reed. Thank you for sharing.
