When Konishiki was healthy, he could beat anyone, including the great Chiyonofuji. However, he had bad arthritic knees, due to his weight, and he was so close to yokozuna promotion, but he was one tournament win shy of promotion. Jesse and konishiki paved the way for Akebono and Musashimaru.

Chiyonofuji was a genius, I first discovered Sumo in the 80's/90's (stumbled on it on Channel 4), I'd love to see these classic bouts on DVD or something.
@adriantjensen The one who loses can run 100m in 11 seconds. That's pretty fast. And he weighs about 125kg (which is about 20 kg lighter than average for a top class sumo) These guys are a lot more athletic than you would think.

They stalled out Konishikis accent. Having said that he did make the crack that allowed for Akebono to become Yokozuna.
This was a gr8 victory for SAMOA'S favorite son KONISHIKI defeating tha gr8 legend of SUMO , "THE WOLF" , YOKOZUNA CHIYONOFUJI frm tha KOKONOE HEYA..

@bellaliHc I am a fat guy. He was has since had bariatric Surgery ect, and is paying dearly for his size. He was a athlete.
