Added to favorites. You can hear the Whiteman sound evolving on this record. It's still great - but distinctly more modern than his late 20's sound which lasted thru the King of Jazz film a year earlier than this record.
I first heard this sung by Carla Normand with the Royal Society Jazz Orchestra in the Claremont Hotel in the S.F.bay area a few years ago and I was smitten. Smitten by the tune and Carla! LOL Oh, how that band can play sweet 30s tunes! Zowie!
Thanks for letting me know that a new tune is coming! Can't wait !
I love this! One of my favories from the depression era. Thank you Pax41, for promoting these wonderful songs of the 30s and earlier ones, Love your style!
I hope to post a few more during the upcoming holiday. YT has been busy suspending accounts again and I prefer not to be one. My pleasure to share this gem with you.
Great post! Superb orchestra playing a wonderful song with the remarkable Mildred Bailey doing the vocalizing ..... does it get any better? This is a fine example of why the music of the1930's can't be surpassed!

I play this quite often. Just a fabulous vocal. What emotions I really feel the pain. Just doesn't get any better.

So heartfelt isn't it? Just love the old music! It's not too optimistic like good old ragtime, but fun to listen to after a glass of wine!
