The difference is that true skinhead culture has its roots in the Jamaican Rudeboy scene from the 60's and from the Mods. The early music most skins listened to was ska and R&B soul. That changed in the 70's when Oi came along and provided a harder sound. Most Nazi skins are usually disliked by mainstream trad skinheads. These guys we call boneheads. Now dont misunderstand me non nazi skins arent angels but we're not going to beat you up for being a different color.

Most skinheads are apolitical. We're more interested in hanging out, having fun and doing all the things anybody does. I mean do you have to be right wing or left wing to be a skater? Its the same with us. We're skinheads becuase we like the culture, the values, and because it makes us feel pride in ourselves and in our working class roots. If anything skinheads would be more aware of class distinctions than racial ones.

This means we dress a certain way, listen to certain music, and have a certain set of values but we're not aliens or weirdos. Even though Im a skin I can still have ambitions, hopes and worries like anyone else in this society. I just identify with skinhead culture.
