think their, or his performances makes a lot more impact in clubs than on big ass open air stages... seen them live in a smaller place place back then, so just a thought...
I've just noticed a thing. While with most people vocal abilities get worse with age, Ogre manages to sing better and better with every year. On this record he sounds significantly better than with Ohgr in 2001, and on 2008-10 tour records he sounds significantly better than this. It is really great that he works so hard on his voice.
@chromescream I've noticed the same thing, actually. In fact, his vocals and writing seemed to make a huge improvement after he participated in "Repo! The Genetic Opera." I wonder if the excursion into acting helped him out?
@Nifflagan1 THAT'S RIGHT: PLAY IT LOUD OR NOT AT ALL. You know, we might be separated by the intertubes, but we don't have to shout...unless rocking out to Skinny Puppy has blown out our ears :D
I miss the old skinny puppy even though i am only 13 and never really got to see the old skinny puppy XP aha but i still think it was better, i do love there newer stuff but there old stuff is by far the best :)
@fozzwit I bought Too Dark Park when I was 13. Their old stuff is definitely special and it will never be matched. I love their new stuff for an entirely different reason though, so I couldn't say one is better than the other. It depends on what I'm in the mood for. Music is very personal, so it's all about what you enjoy :)
@DDTea for the first time, I read something about Skinny Puppy's music that I really think, and that was your comment. Many SP fan's like only the old stuff, and some new guys to industrial music only like SP's new stuff. I love the old and the new stuff for different reason, same as you, it depends on my mood. =)
@DDTea Couldn't agree more dude. People spend too much time criticizing music and not enough time enjoying it. Seriously, I remember reading reviews ~13 years ago about how "Last Rights" was "awful." Today, those words would be blasphemy to any Puppy fan. Open your mind, yeah?
i really like that skinny puppy tries their best to do all possible elements of the music live. it's really interesting. they're likely using pro tools or propellerhead reason. with one keystroke cevin key can initialize a sample and focus on a few things instead of playing each overlapping note which would just be impossible. but that's an artform all it's own. search chris vrenna propellerhead reason if you're interested in the internal workings.
british [english] vote count over ere, concervatives want fox hunting back, fuck the connies and fuck labout [im not saying vote lim dem] just whoever u want but if u love this band u got the picture
@Necrothorn666 there is no real purpose to fox hunting, hunting deer is different due to population control issues and the animals becoming sick. hope that's stopped. i'm a conservative, there is a growing movement of a new generation of conservatives that are for cannabis legalization but at the core promote small government. i didn't want you to think we're all uptight dickheads. from Hou,TX
The drummer is indeed drumming. Much of what he is doing is cymbal work but you can see a few tom hits as well. If Cevin Key is still the one drumming he is an awesome world class drummer, no doubt!
all i have to say is when i saw the "original" Puppy in '92 . NO ONE was standing around. Just a sea of motion, if you wanted to be involved or not! still luv the puppy tho.
agreed, got to see them live for last rights in frisco, and was almost crushed by the wave of bodies when they hit the stage. BEST time of my life though lol
miami psycho you are a prick, wat the fuck are you on about??? tut tut, little boy obviously knows fuck all about skinny puppy, go and do your homework u little cunt.
cEvin and Ogre still write ALL the music. Ken Marshall and Mark Walk only play supporting roles--and Ken's been on board since Remission. Only cevin and Ogre's minds could come up with an album like Mythmaker, and it's a damn good album: experimental, homogeneous, personal, layered, multi-faceted...
Skinny Puppy is an amazing band. If you lose your expectations about how they "should" sound and go where they take you, you'll never be disappointed.
Nice live version. The album version of Tormentor has got to be the heaviest recorded song of all time. At least, it has my vote. Try cranking it on your best stereo. It will be worth your time, trust me.
Oh god....that makes me feel so stupid. No matter how many times I have watched their live performances, and have been simply dazzled by Ogre's costumes, I've never realized he's supposed to be a skinny puppy. And it's so obvious too!I guess there's only one thing I can say, in addition to hiding from the world for the next few days --- D'oh!
well you they The truth hahahahahahahahahahaha???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????we will see hahahahaha

@thosch71 Absolutely agreed. Darkened clubs are better for creating Skinny Puppy's disconcerting little worlds.

theKID13194 3 years ago
The costume is based off plague doctors from the middle ages.
DDTea 3 years ago 4
plauge doctors?
theKID13194 3 years ago
Yes, as in the Great Plagues of the 14th century that killed off a significant portion of Europe...
mxr02 3 years ago
yeah, the mask is a combination of the masks those doctors wore, combined with elements from the shape of a dog's head
lagom242 3 years ago
The doctors had some herbs in that mask.. In that ''nose'' , so they wouldn't smell the rotting plague people..
