La Muerte es mentira... Y Esbjorn está mas vivo que nunca, tan solo su cuerpo terrenal dejó de respirar, eso es una anécdota... Misión mas que cumplida, ya que entendió lo que pocos entienden.
3:33. The silence. Step by step you realize that your journey will finish one day. But you do not stop. You still walk second by second, minute by minute, day by day. More and more knowing the purpose of your life. Knowing today can be the last day of your journey...
That's soo true ! I thank you very much for this comment. It's so good to know, that sone other people feel like I do. All the best for you and enjoy your life...every moment! sayeyes
It's a movie called All The Notes it was taped in 2004. I've watched two movies regarding Cecil one is Imagine The Sound(in whick Cecil is one among Bill Dixon, Archie Shepp, etc) and All The Notes that is a movie made exclusively with him! Is incredible really worth watching. Cecil at home talking about music, life and philosophy.
Justino - It happens that I like this one the best :). Please give me a suggestion to what I should listen and perhaps I will change my mind (and I'll be very happy to find even a better music). But at the same time you are not qualified to talk about my taste - I can like whatever I want :)))
with all my respect to Mr.Esbjorn, this over sentimental MUSAK introduction and the superficial use of strings is everything that Thelonious Monk didn't want for his music. It has literally nothing to do with Round Midnight. First of all, I wonder if you have ever heard Monk's own rendition of this piece. And just to give you an example of something that is largely more musical than this, try Miles Davis version with his famous quintet.
Dear Justino, I've listened to how Monk played it and also Miles. No doubt, it's excellent music and I have much respect for both artists. I agree, it's Monk's piece and his interpretation is which counts the most (it's his idea). But I still like this version best. What can you do :)
it's ok...artists and music need to be discussed...opinions, facts, reality, unreality...it doesn't hurt. I very much respect Mr.Esbjorn as a person. I don't mean to offend anyone in here.
axx111: I am not discussing your taste actually. I am hoping to be discussing music and time. Today, people do prefer "lighter" stuff. It's a fact, unfortunately.
Je vous ai vu en trio a Nantes en octobre 2006 un grand concert qui m'a fait vous apprecier encore plus vous étiez un Grand musicien je ne vous oublierai jamais je vous ecouterai encore longtemps !
Yep. I've had this lump in my throat and tears in my eyes all week. Sometimes I just can't believe it's true that he's gone. How I wish there would have been bad weather on Saturday so that he wouldn't have gone scuba diving.
RIP my friend. May your music live on in our hearts and your life in God's hands.

I think it's the right time to quote Cecil Taylor in All The Notes, the movie:
Have fun in your life.
When teaching Cecil Would say: If you don't like what you do here, go do sth else, sth that you like. Have fun in your life.

Any doubt write me. Or if you can't find it. :D

so try listening to MORE versions because you must be out of your mind. There are PLENTY of versions much better than this one.

Taste could be so different, but I adore Wynton Marsalis version of 'Round Midnight.
One can be more hectic than the other. (unlike this one, Wynton's version is kinda hectic)

Have you heard Courtney Pine's version to 'Round Midnight?
gnasher1993 3 years ago
I haven't..! is it good ?
olivercarlehed 3 years ago
It's amazing. Nothing like this though. Its on his album 'Destiny's Song'. But you'll be lucky to find a copy of the CD. Probably an ebay job ;)
I first heard him play it at Hull Truck Theatre in August and I was absolutely astounded. I'd reccommend it to anyone
