Very nice Standing LQ!!! I hear most SLQ that are found had rubbed off dates, and you were able to dig one with a readable date!! Excellent find, very nice sharp Mercs as well
I would guess that he found a clad nickel with the war nickle and wheatie becuase the wheatie was green. That usually happens in the presence of a nickel.
Old fair grounds, boy scout camps, picnic areas, old train stations, old houses, etc. These guys do research all the time. I know I do. Use Google Earth in your your area, Topographic maps, history books, the library, and above all talk to old guys and gals from your are.
They know where old houses burnt down or where they use to picnic with their parents.Researching will find more places than you can possibly search in your entire life. You can't be lazy if you ever expect to find something cool
Glad I was there when you snapped that drought. I know you needed a good day out there after a month or so. Man was that a brutal morning! I don't ever remember it being so nasty at that time of the morning. If you stood in the sun it was like being under a magnifying glass, and the shade offered no relief with the hordes of thirsty mosquitoes I'm slapping this vid up on my site because it's one of your best. Maybe next time I'll be the star.....
What a good way to end your drought. Still looking for my first SLQ. My parter found 3 in the last 2 years me zero... I'm in a drought too no where to go.
Fantastic hunt T F . After many many hours of digging and swinging and digging and feeding mosquitos and digging and searching, it's a Sweet reward to find a great coin like a S L Q . I think you found a great spot. This fall you should be able to hunt in those trees and make some great finds. Congrats on your 4silver day and SLQ . HH.
Freakin' awesome hunt!!! What a way to come back after a month, eh? Nice finds. That Standing Liberty Quarter sure is sweet. Excellent silver finds! How'd your buddy do?
He didn't find anything too old but he is just takin the time to learn his new machine and didn't expect to find anything old anyways. He has an older Fisher that he kills everytime he uses it but he wanted to upgrade.

OK, I'm totally hooked! Stayed up waaay too late watching all your vids, but it was worth it. :-)
Question.... Do you carry a small backpack? Would be very handy for water, bug spray, ect.
Can't wait for the next hunt!
