Radio Shack, they call it an ohm meter. The ones you can buy can run about $20 and have leads attached to finger tips by Velcro straps. Or you can become a scientologist and spend a couple thousand for one.
I have always wanted to know the truth, but I am afraid to even look at the Dianetics book. It seems to have some crazy brainwashing components to it. I don't want to be sucked in to thier expensive pyramid scheme. If you have to be rich to be involved then it has to be evil.
Thats exactly what i think, im really curious about what goes on in these churches but after reading what happens to some people who do i dunno if its worth the risk
hmmm, the emeter can detect negative mental image pictures..the negative energy in your mind blocks the electricity...what a load of absolute cobblers! It's just a crude resistance meter- like a lie detector.
Beware giving intimate information in "auditing" sessions then leaving scientology, anything you said is likely to be used against you if you speak out and become "fair game"
Absolutely! They get private information out of people by telling them that verbalizing it will help them to get better. They write it down in your file to use against you later if you decide to leave or "blow" as they call it. It's basically blackmail. Come on! How can they honestly call themselves a religion when they do this sort of underhanded bullshit?
What I find amazing is that the organisation hasn't been closed down and the leaders indited for blackmail and harassment. I have a feeling that youtube will expose the truth about the nasty side of their "fair game" policy and the cover groups linked to $cientology.
I have to hand it L Ron, though, the way to make money is to invent a religion!
Exactly! It's such a scam. Unfortunately, people don't realize that it is until they're in it for a while and by then, they're so indoctrinated that they will either not realize that what is being done is a bad thing or be convinced that anything negative about Scieno is a lie. With the internet, more info is out there about what it really is, much to the chagrin of the Scienos. Until recently, there wasn't much objective info out there about it so people went into it blindly. YAY internet!
The fact is that we do have mental image pictures. Hubbard researched and presented the data in a way so that we can use it to improve.
The "pinch test" demonstrates that pain and unhappiness is recorded in the mind and by recalling the experience several times it reduces as can be seen on the E-meter.
No the "pinch test" demonstates that the mind can cause your skin to react by remebering an outside stimulus which in turn causes galvanic skin response, as used in lie detectors. When you lie or show anxiety your skin reacts and you sweat more. The e-meter isn't recording the weight and mass of your mental images, just another L Ron falacy.
I will let the Australian Government answer for me: The Anderson Report, an official inquiry conducted for the state of Victoria, Australia, found that the auditing process involved a form of "authoritative" or "command" hypnosis, in which the hypnotist assumes "positive authoritative control" over the patient. "It is the firm conclusion of this Board that most scientology and dianetics techniques are those of authoritative hypnosis and as such are dangerous."
Give me independant sources that state that this process has been tested and is safe for the public to do. Hubbard had absolutely no medical or scientific training, that is damn dangerous. King1821E I have asked you numerous times for independant sources and you keep going back to the rantings of Hubbard, quoting from Hubbard or his books is about as reputable as quoting from any fictional novel.
It is as safe as recalling a day at the beach. Can you recall a time? Where were you? Who were you with? What were you doing? Can you picture the scene in your mind?
I reminisce quite often thank you. I don't need a book written by a liar, wife beater, racist, bigot, child abuser, satanist, failed sci fi writer, thief, convicted criminal and cult founder to tell me how to do so. I will choose to continue to believe the reports and opinions of the Scientific and medical communities as well as Government reports who all say that Scientology and Dianetics is dangerous to the individual.

Hubbard showed no "scientific" data. He conducted no controlled tests and to this date no controlled tests have been conducted that show that any of Hubbard's ideas to have any benefit to humanity. He was a straight out liar and fake, this has all been shown to be FACT. Why have so many Scientologists commited suicide over the years if Hubbard had actually found the cure for all mental illness? The answer is he didn't.
I think you are mistaking fact with theory. Mental imagery is a theory, as it hasn't been proven. I will help you out a little with a quick lesson; Fact - Hubbard lied when he said he was a highly decorated war hero as his military records show otherwise. Theory - John Travolta is gay, a lot of info points in that direction but no proof exists.
The mind is made of mental image pictures. If you think of a cat you see a picture of a cat. That mental image picture contains matter, energy, and exists in space and time.
Mental image pictures are not tangible, I can't grab one and give it you however we all can "see" that they exist.
Energy units are a mass times a speed squared (E=MC^2). The mass of a body is a measure of how much matter it contains. In space our weight is zero but we still have mass.
I specifically asked about weight...if weight is zero then it doesnt exist. maybe the mass does but not weight. Your a crazy bastard..Im done arguing with you about silly dreams and scientology. WOW KING you are crazy...are you Tom Cruise....lol lol lol lol lol lol
Oh King182E, It is so sad to watch you ramble on about the false claims of $cientology and be constantly laughed at because of your lack of knowledge. Why is it that you keep changing the subject everytime you have been proven to be wrong? Wake up from your dream world, reality is just a few key strokes away. Google search "Operation Clambake" have a read, educate yourself and stop looking ignorant.
So the lady said...everyone in scientology has mental problems and believe that scientology is the answer....so its a cult full of crazy people just like all sane people think. big suprise!!!!!!!
Have you ever been sad about something. That is a mental problem because we have our attention on it instead of living life.
The "pinch test" demonstrates that pain and unhappiness is recorded in the mind and by recalling the experience several times it reduces and can be seen on the E-meter.
There is only one liar here King1821E and you have been called out on your lies over and over again, yet you keep spewing the lies never the less. It is a crude lie detector and holds no benefit to sane people.
A 1971 ruling of the United States District Court, District of Columbia, specifically stated, "the E-meter has no proven usefulness in the diagnosis, treatment or prevention of any disease, nor is it medically or scientifically capable of improving any bodily function."
Acknowledge truth when you see it. The mind is made up of mental image pictures! If you think of a cat you see a picture of a cat. That mental image picture contains matter, energy, and exists in space and time.- Dianetics
Nothing in Dianetics and Scientology is true for you
Why must you continue to quote nonsense from Old Mother Hubbard? Quoting Hubbards words to show Scientology as being a wonderful caring organisation is equal to quoting Hitler's words to validate Nazi docterine. Independant sources are needed, not the twisted ramblings of Hubbard the fool/liar.
The E-meters main component is an instrument called a wheatstone bridge, functions like a galvanometer, indicates changes in a subject's resistance. As per the CoS, the resistance corresponds to the "mental mass and energy" of a subject's mind, which change when a subject thinks of mental images. These concepts have no recognition among scientists outside Scientology; the action of the E-meter is scientifically attributed to galvanic skin response, as used in lie detectors.
Mental imagery isn't a Hubbard discovery and the e-meter doesn't have anything to do with mental images other than showing the galvanic skin response, as used in lie detectors.
Like all good little $cientologists you go and change the subject when you are being shown to be a total ass. Now you are trying to say that people should forget what the vast majority of health professionals and Scientists say about the dangers of Dianetics and $cientology and that they should head on down to the nearest "church" and drink from the poisoned well.
You have experienced Dianetics and Scientology and have received the full powers of the placebo effect it offers. Quoting L Ron Hubbard has no sway with anyone outside the $cientology community, when you can quote credible independant sources people will listen to you. Until then you are just a cult member spewing the cults word and you sound ridiculous.
I'm trying to help people and you are trying to push their face deeper into the mud, where they have no hope and try to solve problems with drugs and alcohol.
I'm trying to improve the condition of the planet to have a civilization without insanity, without criminals and without war, where the able can prosper and honest beings can have rights, and where man is free to rise to greater heights, these are the aims of Scientology.
No, they are not the aims of $cientology. You are just quoting more L Ron Hubbard lies. L Ron also said the following, "The problem with China is there are too many chinks" and "Don't break your back scrubbing the floors, get yourself a nigger, that is what they were made for". Would you like some more wonderful Ron quotes that are as equally hair curling, just google search "Operation Clambake" and read.
I am not trying to "enturbulate" you, I am trying to educate you in the evils of your cult and the founder of the cult. I have no doubt that you believe that $cientology is trying to do these things, but they aren't. The CoS is in it for money and power, they don't care how many Lisa McPhersons are created by the CoS as long as the money keeps pouring in. Stay blind to this FACT if you wish, but stop trying to justify the actions of the cult by using their lies.
"you are trying to push their face deeper into the mud". Incorrect, I am trying to clear the mud away so that people can see with clarity the truth about the CoS and LRH. You are the one who is muddying up the water by only quoting from CoS propaganda and not even attempting to look at the independant sources. If only YOU would open YOUR mind and be honest with yourself.
It's unfortunate that you can't read. Scientology has effective literacy and study skills for life programs. You can see the Dianetics DVD which can explain it to you.
Go ahead & dump your money into that. When you reach ot III you'll see what its really about. What I don't get about scientology is that they put this front about just being a spiritual religion, like buddhism. Why don't they just state outright they believe in "body thetans" & xenu. Why do you have to reach ot3 to find out?
The Xenu story is from a science fiction screenplay called "Revolt in the Stars". Xenu is not found anywhere, in the context of Dianetics, the volcano represents the release of the mind's boundless energy, just as a volcanic eruption is a release of the Earth's boundless energy. In 1950 when it was first published the cover was green with black and white polkadots.
In a 2006 interview with Rolling Stone, Mike Rinder, the director of the church's Office of Special Affairs, said that "It is not a story, it is an auditing level," when asked about the validity of the Xenu story. King182E you don't even know the official stance the Cult has taken on Xenu. Again I say to you, read more and educate yourself before making stupid, ill informed comments.
King182E "It's unfortunate that you can't read", that statement is comical at best, tragic at worst. Google Search "Operation Clambake" and read. Stop preaching the $cientology crap to people who have looked into the dark side of the cult and see it for what it really is.
The organization didn't exist in 1950 when he wrote Dianetics, people were using the 10 step procedure to improve health, happiness and intelligence. Even today you can get Dianetics at the library and use it at home with friends or family for free.
It seems I miss understood you. We're talking about scientology here as a religion. You are refering to dianetics independently from scientology as lessons in literacy and study skills. You and duggler are talking about two completely different things. He's talking about scientology as a religion. You are just talking about the book dianetics. So the question still stands, why does the CoS not just state outright they believe in "body thetans" & xenu.
Don't make an apology to King182E, you didn't misunderstand him, he is a $cientologist through and through. You were correct in everything you said and shouldn't back down. Dianetics and $cientology are fucking dangerous, $cientology lessons and $cientology the religion/cult are one in the same, the lessons rope people into the religion.
The Anderson Report, an official inquiry conducted for the state of Victoria, Australia, found that the auditing process involved a form of "authoritative" or "command" hypnosis, in which the hypnotist assumes "positive authoritative control" over the patient. "It is the firm conclusion of this Board that most scientology and dianetics techniques are those of authoritative hypnosis and as such are dangerous."
Dr W Sumner Davis - "Dianetics is nothing more than an example of pseudoscience trying to legitimize itself. Hubbard, had he indeed been a scientist, would have known that truth is not built on axioms, & facts can't be found from some a-priori knowledge. A true science is constructed on hypotheses, which are arrived at by the virtue of observed phenomena. Scientific knowledge is gained by observation & testing, not believing from some subconscious stipulation, as Hubbard would have us believe".
Prof Robert Carroll - "What Hubbard touts as a science of mind lacks one key element that is expected of a science: empirical testing of claims. The key elements of Hubbard's so-called science don't seem testable, yet he repeatedly claims that he is asserting only scientific facts and data from many experiments. It isn't even clear what such "data" would look like. Most of his data is in the form of anecdotes and speculations. Such speculation is appropriate in fiction, but not in science".
Eight physicians (Jack M. Blount, M.D., Ronald Davis, M.D., Paul Jaconello, M.D., Warren Levin, M.D., Rex E. Newnham, D.O., N.D., Ph.D., Gus J. Prosch, Jr., M.D. , John Parks Trowbridge, M.D., Kathleen Kerr, M.D.) were asked to review Dianetics.
They concluded that Hubbard's first method for relieving illness, including arthritis and aberrant behavior patterns, involved a technology of assisted self-confrontation, where stored, but "unconscious," moments of pain and emotion could be wholly alleviated, thus resulting in disappearance of either the illness or its counterpart, the compulsory behavior pattern. The result was more freedom to choose, and less subjection to undesirable stimulus-response mechanisms.
They did not conduct controlled studies as is needed for true scientific analysis of a treatment. Again all they witnessed was a placebo effect. King182E you really have little to no idea of the Scientific means to validate something. You keep crediting Hubbard with the discovery of the storing of uncoscious moments of pain, when in fact Freud made this discovery 50 years earlier. Hubbard just twisted it and made it a dangerous form of "authoritative hypnosis" for dummies.
If you are going to quote a report by Physicians then it would be wise to look into the background of said Physicians beforehand, because you can be damn sure I will; Ronald Davis, Paul Jaconello, John Parks Trowbridge and Kathleen Kerr were/are all Scientologists as per Scientology records.
Continued; Rex E Newnham and Jack M Blount both stated that a possitive attitude assists the patient in controlling symptoms, they never stated that Dianetics was the cure for arthritis. Newnham claimed that "Boron" was the cure for arthritis. Blount claimed that the drug Clotrimazole was the cure for arthritis. Both were very dubious of Dianetics.
As for Gus J Prosch Jr, it will take a little more time to research as there is a lot of information regarding this man and much of it is veiled by privacy laws.
So far 7 of the 8 have shown to be unreliable sources of your claim by way of; conflict of interest (scientologists), misrepresentation of statements and 1 case of gross malpractice. This is the problem with Scientologists, they only believe what they are spoon fed by the CoS.
Not to mention the fact that no study was actually performed by these people and they were all hand picked by the "Church" to comment in the document you refered to for obvious reasons (see comments above). For there to be a valid study, independant sources must conduct the tesing in a contolled test.

SlappyThePenguin 4 years ago 2
When I think of a cat my mind does see a cat.
Mental imagery isn't a Hubbard discovery and the e-meter doesn't have anything to do with mental images other than showing the galvanic skin response, as used in lie detectors.

Nothing in Dianetics and Scientology is true for you
Unless you have observed it
And it is true according to your observation.
That is all. - L. Ron Hubbard
I have experienced Dianetics and Scientology for myself and it helped me improve conditions in my life.
King1821E 4 years ago
Like all good little $cientologists you go and change the subject when you are being shown to be a total ass. Now you are trying to say that people should forget what the vast majority of health professionals and Scientists say about the dangers of Dianetics and $cientology and that they should head on down to the nearest "church" and drink from the poisoned well.
SlappyThePenguin 4 years ago 3
You have experienced Dianetics and Scientology and have received the full powers of the placebo effect it offers. Quoting L Ron Hubbard has no sway with anyone outside the $cientology community, when you can quote credible independant sources people will listen to you. Until then you are just a cult member spewing the cults word and you sound ridiculous.
SlappyThePenguin 4 years ago 2
I'm trying to help people and you are trying to push their face deeper into the mud, where they have no hope and try to solve problems with drugs and alcohol.
I'm trying to improve the condition of the planet to have a civilization without insanity, without criminals and without war, where the able can prosper and honest beings can have rights, and where man is free to rise to greater heights, these are the aims of Scientology.
King1821E 4 years ago

SlappyThePenguin 4 years ago 4
"you are trying to push their face deeper into the mud". Incorrect, I am trying to clear the mud away so that people can see with clarity the truth about the CoS and LRH. You are the one who is muddying up the water by only quoting from CoS propaganda and not even attempting to look at the independant sources. If only YOU would open YOUR mind and be honest with yourself.

It's unfortunate that you can't read. Scientology has effective literacy and study skills for life programs. You can see the Dianetics DVD which can explain it to you.
King1821E 4 years ago
Go ahead & dump your money into that. When you reach ot III you'll see what its really about. What I don't get about scientology is that they put this front about just being a spiritual religion, like buddhism. Why don't they just state outright they believe in "body thetans" & xenu. Why do you have to reach ot3 to find out?
stopcrazypp 4 years ago
The Xenu story is from a science fiction screenplay called "Revolt in the Stars". Xenu is not found anywhere, in the context of Dianetics, the volcano represents the release of the mind's boundless energy, just as a volcanic eruption is a release of the Earth's boundless energy. In 1950 when it was first published the cover was green with black and white polkadots.
King1821E 4 years ago
In a 2006 interview with Rolling Stone, Mike Rinder, the director of the church's Office of Special Affairs, said that "It is not a story, it is an auditing level," when asked about the validity of the Xenu story. King182E you don't even know the official stance the Cult has taken on Xenu. Again I say to you, read more and educate yourself before making stupid, ill informed comments.
SlappyThePenguin 4 years ago 2
King182E "It's unfortunate that you can't read", that statement is comical at best, tragic at worst. Google Search "Operation Clambake" and read. Stop preaching the $cientology crap to people who have looked into the dark side of the cult and see it for what it really is.
SlappyThePenguin 4 years ago
The organization didn't exist in 1950 when he wrote Dianetics, people were using the 10 step procedure to improve health, happiness and intelligence. Even today you can get Dianetics at the library and use it at home with friends or family for free.
King1821E 4 years ago
It seems I miss understood you. We're talking about scientology here as a religion. You are refering to dianetics independently from scientology as lessons in literacy and study skills. You and duggler are talking about two completely different things. He's talking about scientology as a religion. You are just talking about the book dianetics. So the question still stands, why does the CoS not just state outright they believe in "body thetans" & xenu.
stopcrazypp 4 years ago

SlappyThePenguin 4 years ago 2
Dr W Sumner Davis - "Dianetics is nothing more than an example of pseudoscience trying to legitimize itself. Hubbard, had he indeed been a scientist, would have known that truth is not built on axioms, & facts can't be found from some a-priori knowledge. A true science is constructed on hypotheses, which are arrived at by the virtue of observed phenomena. Scientific knowledge is gained by observation & testing, not believing from some subconscious stipulation, as Hubbard would have us believe".
SlappyThePenguin 4 years ago

King1821E 4 years ago
They concluded that Hubbard's first method for relieving illness, including arthritis and aberrant behavior patterns, involved a technology of assisted self-confrontation, where stored, but "unconscious," moments of pain and emotion could be wholly alleviated, thus resulting in disappearance of either the illness or its counterpart, the compulsory behavior pattern. The result was more freedom to choose, and less subjection to undesirable stimulus-response mechanisms.
King1821E 4 years ago
They did not conduct controlled studies as is needed for true scientific analysis of a treatment. Again all they witnessed was a placebo effect. King182E you really have little to no idea of the Scientific means to validate something. You keep crediting Hubbard with the discovery of the storing of uncoscious moments of pain, when in fact Freud made this discovery 50 years earlier. Hubbard just twisted it and made it a dangerous form of "authoritative hypnosis" for dummies.
SlappyThePenguin 4 years ago
If you are going to quote a report by Physicians then it would be wise to look into the background of said Physicians beforehand, because you can be damn sure I will; Ronald Davis, Paul Jaconello, John Parks Trowbridge and Kathleen Kerr were/are all Scientologists as per Scientology records.
SlappyThePenguin 4 years ago 2
Continued; Warren Lavin, had his medical licence pulled in 2005 after not contesting a malpractice charge regarding illegal testing and research.
SlappyThePenguin 4 years ago 2
Continued; Rex E Newnham and Jack M Blount both stated that a possitive attitude assists the patient in controlling symptoms, they never stated that Dianetics was the cure for arthritis. Newnham claimed that "Boron" was the cure for arthritis. Blount claimed that the drug Clotrimazole was the cure for arthritis. Both were very dubious of Dianetics.
SlappyThePenguin 4 years ago 2
As for Gus J Prosch Jr, it will take a little more time to research as there is a lot of information regarding this man and much of it is veiled by privacy laws.
So far 7 of the 8 have shown to be unreliable sources of your claim by way of; conflict of interest (scientologists), misrepresentation of statements and 1 case of gross malpractice. This is the problem with Scientologists, they only believe what they are spoon fed by the CoS.
SlappyThePenguin 4 years ago 2
Not to mention the fact that no study was actually performed by these people and they were all hand picked by the "Church" to comment in the document you refered to for obvious reasons (see comments above). For there to be a valid study, independant sources must conduct the tesing in a contolled test.
SlappyThePenguin 4 years ago 3
Nice video, got to laugh at the cult.
