  • I love Rim's vocals. Him & Herma Keil are my faves of that era.

The best is the song he sings on the train at Kuirau Park in the film. (thats under Rim D Paul & The Quin Tikis now)

  • These guys were awesome ! I've edited a few Quin Tikis clips from the film 'Don't Let It Get You' recently.

    They're on my channel :)

  • thanks for uploading-great memories-hope they did well.

  • Awesome to hear Rim back in the day when the musos played real instruments with no pre-recorded backing

  • Check out young Dame Kiri Te Kanawa was @ 0.25!!!!!!

  • 感激です。 WOW!

A BUNCH OF NICE LOOKING GUYS.

The singer has got a GREAT voice... LUV IT!

    from Little Bay, Sydney

  • Viva o Blues!

  • i was just looking at the comment's that was about the Quin Tikis um Bill Rawhiti is my Grandfather he told me a lot of story's about being in the Quin Tikis wear thay went in New Zealand and Oversea's and much more.

  • Do you have the rest of the movie?

  • Well who would've thought!! Quin tikis eh. My Uncle Bill Rawhiti was bass player. He had a chain saw accident and lost four fingers saving a friends life but was still about to be a mean bass player with a mean smile!!

  • One minute of bliss!

It looks like Kiri Te Kanawa in the audience shots.

Is this from an early NZ film?

  • the audience is stoked ... !

  • This was filmed in 1963/64 theme to the movie Runaway. The Quin tiki's was Rim's last showband group before going solo. Yes Denis (with one 'n') is his name hence the 'D'in Rim D Paul, but not a name he used professionally. His cousins called him Dinny but thats as far as it went. He's currently HOD of music at Rotorua Boys High School.

  • Shades of the old pop back in the 50s. Very good!!

  • HIS STAGE NAME WAS CALLED RIM D PAUL ALSO HE WAS BIG IN SYDNEY AUSTRALIA IN THE LATE 1960s 1970s ERA FROM THE MAORI HI FIVES.

    AOTEROA

    DAVE PENETANA.

  • Thanks jimzvidz, that confirms what I had found also. Cheers.

  • Just had a message from the madmaori(junior tuatara)who tells me the singer here was also a member of the Maori Hi Quins and goes by the name of Dennis Paul

  • Back in the 60's a group called the Maori Hi Quins made it onto the TV in England...I think a few of them stayed on and became an annual attraction at Blackpool...Years later i met an ex member in a nightclub in Benidorm calling himself the Mad Maori and doing a brilliant act...Just out of curiosity i just Googled Mad Maori,to find he's got his own webpage at madmaori424 dot com..take a look

  • Hey who are these guys and who is singing?
