  • you sound like a dork

  • cut your nails

  • the 'thumb studs' aren't actually thumb studs they are to stop the blade from opening to far

  • hard to sharpen ?

  • You have Elven-like finger tips and a magically Elven-like knife collection. Are you an Elf?

  • Does that lanyard get in your way in using the knife? I've always thought lanyards looked cool, but after carrying knives w lanyards for a while, they seemed to get in the way of my use. (Good thing, b/c now I'm reasoning my way away from those pricey starlingear beads.)

  • I see that you carry it with a lanyard only. Do you pocket carry it in that manner, and if so, How well does it deploy compared to pocket clip carry?

  • hey dave this knife is full ambi right?

  • Haha,

I was looking for a good review on this knife, just did a trade with someone, actually a really good deal, a rat izula with a custom sheath on my end + 100 bucks for a NIB 300? About 160 for a 220 dollar knife.. Anyways, Just wanted to see if it was worth it or not but after this video I'm solid on this deal.

Thanks for the great reviews, they really come in handy. :D

  • Whats your preference for EDC between the 300, 350 and 200?

  • I love my knives, but I'm sorry, there is absolutely NO reason to shell out 625 bucks for a blade *cough cough STRIDER cough, the most you should ever spend on a knife is 200, maybe 250. anything beyond that is conspicuous consumption. the best way to shop for knives is to google the make and model, click "Shopping" in the left hand panel, then switch to the "Price High Low" sort.

  • @decimator22 Cost of a ZT 300: $236

  • your from NYC and carry any of these ? LEO MIL?i live in nyc most of the year an di have toobust out myCCW ID regularly just to carry my EDC knifes .

  • question do u have small hands ?

  • I just received a ZT 0300 today in the mail. I bought it second hand off some guy from Bladeforums. Everything is great except for this rattling noise I hear every time I shake the knife. I'm a little worried that it's the torsion bar about to break or something. What do you think Dave?

  • @ZeroToleranceKnives

Congrats, Man. It does sound like it could be the torsion bar. Have heard others experience the same. You could try taking it down and have a look. It's not too complicated. Otherwise you could send it in. Sorry can't be of more help.

  • @ZeroToleranceKnives whats a torision bar? i bought a 0301 and it ratles aswell!!

  • @ZeroToleranceKnives i have the same noise in mine. it only happens when its open. I believe it is the small ball that is loose on the inside of the of the titanium lock. It is the piece that lets the blade open and close without touching the actual titanium lock.. that is my hypothesis but i could be wrong

  • @ZeroToleranceKnives mine does the same thing. i bought it brand new. and it has no other problems like you say. i think it is the small ball on the inside of the frame lock that allows the blade to open and close smoothly without making contact with the actual titanium. that just my guess though because it only happens when the blade is open.

  • @c00cam7556 The rattle is from a torsion bar inside the knife which acts as a spring for their assisted opening mechanism. This is common on all of Kershaw's assisted opening knives It only rattles when the blade is open because the torsion bar is under tension when the blade is closed.

The common fix is stuffing the area where the bar moves around with grease, but it's usually temporary. The other solution is to remove the torsion bar.

  • @ZeroToleranceKnives Mine rattles as well, very annoying for a $260 knife. I sent it in to ZT to have fixed...it came back w/ no rattle but w/ in a few weeks the rattle came back. I emailed ZT about the rattle and they said some "glue" was loose inside? GLUE?!?! I brought it to a local knife dealer, he did not think the rattle was a problem but was really skeptical that there was glue used inside.

  • Overbuilt....now that's a understatement! :-0

It is now my go to EDC. What a beast! Since I got my 301 I can't stop playing with it. It's challenging to deploy then one hand close due to its massive size. I rub my index finger on the jimping every time I do it. That is the ONLY thing I can whine about. I have just under 200 blades 3/4th are folders and this ZT 300 series just makes me happy! Thanks for the great review it's help like yours that made my decision for me. Cheers!

    Peace.

  • @PrinceofPeace9957

Very cool, Man! Much congrats on your ZT!

I've been meaning to do an update on this knife... it really has stood up to some serious use... Very impressed overall.

Thanks for watching, and enjoy that ZT!

  • once a again another great review, I have the ZT 0121 fixed blade. It's one tough blade, a little heavy for it's size but it hasn't let me down yet. It's stood up to extreme desert heat, freezing cold and a lot of punishment.

  • @wilowhisp

Awesome to hear, Man! The ZTs really are overbuilt knives! Without a doubt! Great to hear it's served you well!

    Thanks for watching!

  • Hey nycdave212 I'd like to ask if your "ZT 300" has a faint noise if you shake it while the blade is deployed?

Just noticed it a while ago...

  • I have an 0300(and a 0400 and 0200 as well).

The slight rattle is just the assisted opening spring in the right hand side handle.

It really isn't a spring,it's a piece of s.s .070wire that acts like one as the blade is rotated.

It's ok to have a little rattle.

That knife is tough as nails and I love all ZT's!

  • Hi dgl1962! Thanks for sharing your experience I should just get used to that faint noise that the assisted opening spring makes when the blade is deployed.

When it's closed there is no sound at all...

True that one tough folder no blade play at all!

  • i would have likes this knife SO much more if the AO was a bit more.... urgent. seems kinda slow :(

  • @Vsca

I hear ya, Man... more tension would have been an improvement for sure.

    Thanks for watching!

  • I just received my 0300 and I just bought the 0400 as well.

They are solid, somewhat heavy, but built like tanks and don't have that lightweight, plasticky,Chinky feel like my SOG's.

  • @dgl1962

Very cool, Man! Congrats! Enjoy 'em!

  • Great video, im debating between the zt 0301 or the kershaw tyrade

  • @NTNGMAN

Thanks, Man! You can't go wrong with either... My vote, of course, would be for the ZT... either way, enjoy and thanks again!

  • Hello Dave

    Just ordered my zt0300 today.

Great review...your review really answered my questions on the knife making the purchase easy!!!

    Thx alot.

  • @maddoido

Awesome, Man! Congrats! Hope you enjoy it! Glad the vid helped!

  • recently added ZT300 and AFCK D2 to my collection thanks to Dave's excellent reviews, couldn't be happier with both thank you, few things Dave get's right in his reviews and why I trust his opinions- quality camera, lighting sound and nondistracting background, he's educated and articulate his commentary is trustworthy, knife comparison's are relevant and much appreciated, he's gracious with his time and responds to viewers, deserves more than praise from his subscribers

  • Congrats on the ZT & especially the AFCK (one of my all time favorites)! You should make a couple of vids for them.., go for it!

And thanks very much for the compliments and the support. Greatly appreciated! As long as the vids help viewers out, it's all good for me ;)

  • leave the vids to you, can't imagine the time that goes into your reviews, the AFCK balance, handle shape, blade profile all near perfect, should've bought one from the start and passed on lesser knives...

  • I got the ZT 302, love it. A bit heavy for edc in my opinion but extremely well built. I think the best place to carry it out is when I go camping :) nice vid by the way!

  • Congrats, Man.. the 302 is sweet.... and I hear ya... it's a beast... when you don't feel like carrying this one, the 350 is a great alternative (As you know ;)

    Thanks much!

  • yeah, but I think 302 is more classic.

  • Another GREAT review! I just purchased a 0350 (thanx in part to your review) but considering the size of the larger 0300/1/2 series, I MUST own one of these. I've collected about a dozen different spyderco knives but it is definately time to step my knife game up a bit. Thanx!!

  • Much thanks, Man! Glad you're enjoying the vids!

Once you get those ZTs in, it's time to start making some vids, huh? ;)

  • Some commentary removed as some comments were removed which made the discussion incoherent and irrelevant. Thanks!

  • Hey Dave, I live in Canada, I am wondering if these knives are illegal in Canada because of the switch blade policy? Thanks

  • Heya, thanks for watching!

I wish I could help you, but my knowledge of Canadian law is really non-existent, sorry. My suggestion would be to give a call to your local (local is important) Prosecuter's office and simply inquire with them to get the definitive answer.

Spring assisted technologies are coming under very tight scrutiny currently, so, best to be err on the side of caution and legality! Good luck!

  • no they are not, because you are starting the blade with your hand

can be purchased online in canada

    from warriors and wonders

  • Just came across a series of tests done by KnifeDealsPlus on the Zero Tolerance knives...

Definitely provides some food for thought regarding the strength of these knives. Have a look :)

  • Dave, I looked at this knife at a gun and knife show today, but didn't get it because they wanted $250 for a used knife. Again great review, thanks.

  • $250 Used?!?! Wow man.. glad you know your stuff and didn't pick it up... Check your inbox :)

  • Always been a fan of the recurved knife, which seems to be a favourite of Ken Onion.

This one seems to have an only slight recurved, but it is still there and give it a great look!

Nice lock, I like frame locks better than liners, but that is just personal preference,

Great review though, you seem to say everything that needs to be said, and give great size comparisons! Again, be sure to keep up the size comparisons, I have started doing it as well, like the Bolo Video.

  • Dave, That was a great review, very informative. Really like how you compaired the 300 to other knives. Sometimes it's hard to tell how big or small a knife is in someones hands. Great job there! You spoke with confidence and smoothness. I really enjoyed the review 5 Stars, Awesome!
